A word from Japon
The success of a restaurant all depends on the cooperation of its staff. When people take pride in what they do and enjoy their work environment, it shines through to the customers and employees alike.

Here at Japon, Owner Miki Hashimoto opened Japon with one thought in mind; He wanted to create an atmosphere where people could experience a mini vacation while dining in their own city. Miki-san adds to the intrigue of Japon by keeping it an exciting dining destination for people around the metro area. Just as Japon’s menu and decor changes, so does Miki-san, and always for Excellence.

This was our last visit to Japon, as they are closing at the end of October (the building owner sold the space). It was wonderful as always and we are looking forward to the new concept they will be opening next spring in the new location. Get to Japon while you can. :)

I have never had sushi served the way they do at Japon. Veggies were tied on top of rice with seaweed ties. It was beautiful, unexpected and delicious! The eight piece Veggie sushi was more than enough food for me. I also had the spicy edamame via my friend who shared, and they were wonderful; as was the veggie tempura, lightly fried and wondrously diverse. The service was excellent, and I can't wait to try the new restaurant in their lodo space coming next summer..

Went to this place a few months earlier and really enjoyed it. This time, not so much. The sushi quality really decreased. Even the edamame was not what I was hoping for--completely over cooked and mushy. Server was nice, nothing special. Not sure I'd go here again considering there is cheaper sushi elsewhere that tastes the same. Maybe it was just bad luck this time around?

Visited early in the evening (530) and it was not crowded or busy, seemed to be staffed just right yet our server was slow, unattentive, failing to refill our water until we were receiving the check. Dessert sat plated for several minutes as our server chatted with other staff. It was as though we were an after thought. Unfortunate. Have been here 3 times now for the sushi, which is great, but equally disappointed in service each time.

We ordered the executive dinner that consisted of at least 10 dishes and were warned of the long prep time. We had a few appetizers and the two dinners were out in no time. The dishes were varied, delicious and prepared very well. We have not had this type of presentation except in Japan....menu was very extensive...we want to return to try other dishes!

We visited Japonon a Sunday night -- not always the best for sushi elsewhere, but it was my son's birthday. Everything was delicious. Our server, Katsuko, guided us with recommendations about what was particularly fresh or good that night, and it was perfect. The menu is a little confusing, but that's a small thing. We left we feeling well taken care of and definitely well-fed.

Having lived 12+ years in Japan and now living in Denver, Japon is one of my favorite Metro-Denver Japanese restaurants. The food and atmosphere remind me of many of the places I loved in Japan. The majority of the dishes are traditional Japanese; while a few have modernist twist. The traditional and modernist dishes alike are rooted in Japanese inspired taste. My absolute favorites are the sushi and agedashi tofu. If you are a ramen lover or want to find out what real ramen taste like, get the ramen. The ramen's comforting broth and perfectly cooked noodles are perfect for adults and kids alike. Japon is on my short list of places to go when disappointment is not an option.

We were at Japon for 5280 and to celebrate a family birthday. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and so much I had to take 1/2 home. The waiter was very friendly and compitent. It was busy so we had to wait a bit, but that was understandable and the waiter apologized and gave us extra saki. The bar area was vibrant. The noise level was a bit high, there were 5 of us trying to talk and it was a bit hard to hear one another. Will definately go back!

Had a great meal. Very busy for a Wednesday night, but it was almost the end of Restaurant week so that could have been it. The main course and dessert were a little slow to arrive, but our group of 6 was having fun talking so it wasn't a major deal. We all got the $52.80 four course meal and it was very good. It was my first time for sushi, so it was fun to do it with family helping me!

The 5280 menu was incredible the fish was so fresh and cut quite thick verrrry good. The only draw back was the table are verrry close together so if you are trying to go on a romatic or private date/conversation I would not suggest this place. Otherwise, it's a very cute and fun atmosphere and the food is outstanding.

It was a good experience. I used to live in neighborhood and went to Japon often. But since moving out of the area, it's easy to forget that it was there. It was great to get re-acquainted with the restaurant. Thank you Restaurant week for giving this opportunity. By the way, when I checked in at the hostess table. They did not have the reservations. Luckily I did have the computer generated confirmation. I don't think they were able to give me credit for Open Table. They said they would look into it and for me to also mention it to Open Table.

We attended via 52.80 and not only did we get plenty of delicious food but plenty of it. The house wine, sauvigon blanc, was recommended and was very goood. We enjoyed the wall that was, basically like an aquariam, without the fish. It was beautiful to watch because it bubbled the entire time. This wall was behind the sushi chefs... we could watch them and the peaceful water works.

Nice place to have sushi. The night my wife and I went to dinner it was really buisy and took us about 15 minutes past our reservation to get seated. While we waited we had to listen to the loud bar that meets you in the front. After we got seated, we were quickly taken care of. The diablo roll was excellent and the sushi was also very nice. Table seating can be somewhat tight in some areas but the food choices, presentation and value are excellent. Parking can be difficult but valet is available and complimentary. Servers are friendly but when a very busy night, bring your conversation to help fill in the gaps. HIghly recommended as a less expensive sushi experience with no drop in quality.

Great sushi in a bright and energetic atmosphere. Great for casual group dining or a romantic dinner for two. A staple in the Wash Park neighborhood for the last two decades, there's a reason this place has been going strong for so many years. Do yourself a favor and try the specials from the sushi bar like a plate of sashimi or one of their non-traditional creations.
