some of the best sushi that Maui has to offer. Service is great, superior portion sizes at a great price. Fish is fresh and is better value than driving to Mama Fish House which is over priced and a tourist trap.

Several friends recommended the food and I have to say the sushi is excellent. Our pupus were also very good and the bartender (John) was excellent. We weren't crazy about the crab dish - too much sauce. But overall, the view is excellent, the service is great and an easy place to get to for a cocktail and a quick bite or a full dinner. They sat us outside, it was a little windy but the view was gorgeous amd my kids loved it. Our waiter rocked, I think his name was Joey. He brought our 6ur old daughter a towel just in case she got cold. He new the menu and every small detail. Our filet & prawns were awesome!! Hamachi Kaka is a winner for a starter. The weather and sunset were dreamy. Kathleen took great care of us and was very attentive. She was professional and thurough. We left filled with the best sushi any of us had ever had. What a great restaurant setting and menu. We also had a very helpful busser who's name I didn't catch, but definately deserves praise. Sushi was amazing and the rolls were much larger than the other sushi restaurants on the island. I had the pork chop and hash; delicious! My friend couldn't stop talking about the forbidden rice with her mahi. This wasn't our first time and still the sushi exceeds our expectations. Bobby and Gerry took exceptional care of us!!! We all savored Bobby's recommendation for the Tootsie Roll along with my favorite Tempura shrimp roll. This was a first time for our friends and they are going back for a special romantic dinner. A terrific feature of the restaurant is half servings at half price for many of the restaurants offerings, allowing diners to try many more dishes.
The location of Japengo as well as the ocean view of Lanai and Molokai cannot be beaten, particularly during certain months when the sun sets into the ocean between the two islands.

Turned out James Taylor was playing Maui. We stayed at the Westin but when we tried to add an extra night to our stay-they were sold out--lucky 4 us. We stayed at the Hyatt. Serendipitous as we found Japengo.
Its is a remarkable spot. Everything from its menu to servers and location are superb-quite wonderful. Their cuisine is "Pacific Rim." Lots of fish but excellent meat-veggie too. Oriental influence-but a little bit of everything. Their preparations are the finest around--truly innovative.. We came back for dinner a second time. Unprecedented for us as Maui-goers of long standing. Japengo is our new fav on Maui--

We got a great table, and the service was very good. The drink menu was extensive, and we thoroughly explored it. We went with the chef's choice sashimi to start and very much enjoyed it. Well,after dining at Japengo at the Maui Ka'anapali Beach Hyatt Hotel, I have revised my opinion. This has to be the best view, best food and greatest service I can remember at any hotel in the world. The Asian fusion cuisine is delicious and interesting,and the offering of half size plates enables us to select several dishes to share at half price. And, the night was extra special as we were celebrating my birthday that had fallen earlier in the week. When we arrived, my husband told the host that we were celebrating my birthday, and as such, "Jimmie" arranged for a lovely table on the point. Then, our waiter, Joey, was superb. Fantastic service all around. I didn't care for my menu selections though... yet I think it was my own taste and not a situation of poorly prepared entrees.

We finally sat in the lounge area because the hostess looked lost and didn't know what to do after standing there for 15 minutes. I made this reservation well in advance and they were not even busy. We were also staying in this hotel so I felt we should have been treated better. I work in food service so to not be offered any free drinks or apps is a big "no no"!!! Such a shame, beautiful location for dinner and ruined!!!
