A word from Jan's On The Beach
Jan’s on the Beach is White Rock's newest seafood restaurant - fully renovated - with a new ocean view deck at a great location "on the strip".

We offer a "Seafood and more" menu inspired by the multicultural flavours of the Vancouver area, along with a full appetizer menu. All our dishes are made to order from scratch with fresh local ingredients.

We offer daily specials, and on occasion we'll put on wine pairing dinners for you to enjoy.

We also are open for Breakfast and Lunch, and have a Beach Favourites Menu with dishes such as "Fish Bites & Fries" and a tasty Calamari bowl.

Top it off with homemade desserts such as White Chocolate and Blueberry Creme Brule, or Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with Grand Marnier Strawberries.

We hope to become your favourite place to enjoy a great dining experience with one of the best views on White Rock's Marine Drive!

  • "The lamb was brilliant as was the Bison burger...the pasta a bit stodgy, exacerbated by presentation in a bowl....salmon underdone. However the waitress was very helpful and arranged for us not to be charged for the salmon entree. (Thank you!) I liked the large windows that make indoor dining still manage to feel al fresco and close to the beach. I would return and give the food another go."

  • "I reserved a table for 1:00. Our table was not ready,but the server offered to clean one which was by the sidewalk in the sun. A large group of 14 people was seated nearby.We ordered drinks,the Sangria was fruity & flavourful, & a hot artichoke & spinach appie which was served with celery sticks & deep fried pita quarters. Lunches were a Caesar salad with chicken & a winter salad with prawns. The chef actually came to the table & said they were out of the hazelnuts for my salad & asked if I would mind a substitution.Our salads were served just as we finished the appie. AND THAT WAS THE LAST we saw of our waitress!!This restaurant did not seem able to handle service to other patrons with the large group occupying all their time."

  • "Went to Jan's for Valentines Day. They offered a 3 course meal with wine pairing, which were extra. I did not know that they had taken off everything else on the menu, and my only choice was to spend $110 (before taxes and tip) for me and my friend to enjoy a meal. I might have been okay paying that much, but the atmosphere was average, the portions were small, and the food was a little below to a little above average. As I said, I feel like they took advantage of the fact that it was Valentines day and everywhere else was booked to charge us an exorbitant amount of money for an average meal. I hate to give a bad review, I am all about the little guy, but I also would not want someone to have the same experience I did."

  • "I discovered Jan on the Beach about a year ago and have been back 4-5 times for various occasions with family and friends. It's a great place for lunch or light dinner. It's a comfortable little bistro place amongst the pubs along west beach close to the pier in White Rock. The food is always fresh and Jan cooks it to perfection. My favorite is the clam chowder and the french fries which both never disappoint. I know I will go back due to it's quiet atmosphere and the great food. Suzette from White Rock"

A table was ready, but it appeared there was only one cook and one waitperson on duty, so the service was agonizingly slow as they apparently tried to cope with us and other diners. Good location."

  • "We arrived to a table right beside/on the duo music group. After asking to sit outside we did manage to get a table after someone left.. Appetizers didn't come until we reminded waitress of the order, about an hour wait for that. Tried to order 2 different appetizers that were 'sold out'. Dinner came after 2 hours and they were terrible. Tiny portions of chicken, steak and prawn dinner was not good. The appetizers my friend and I were sharing were awful. And that was after settling for things we didn't want. We will not return and will tell people to stay away. Ruined a birthday celebration."

Outside seating with a good heater made the experience perfect for a late spring dinner.It is a good thing we were not in a hurry though, because the service was painfully slow. This restaurant needs more staff in the kitchen as well as wait staff. The chef (Jan?) apologized to me saying they got slammed. Understandable except only half the tables were occupied!The food was very good. Served hot and well presented.If Jan's can solve the staffing issues they will behave a restaurant that fits the White Rock Beach dining scene as an equal to any restaurant there."

  • "The food was good. The other reviews said that the lamb was "fall off the bone" so I tried it but found it a bit dry and burnt on some sides. My wife's steak and lobster looked like steak and large shrimp. The chocolate fondue was not to my expectation, presentation wise. Was just a bowl of hot chocolate with large chunks of bread and fruit. Kitchen concept was a great idea so the chef could interact with the guests however, that also served as a downfall to my impression because it was valentines day, the restaurant was full...and we found out that the chef was alone. Our dinner took 1 hour to arrive. They should have served bread while people wait. I spent a fair bit of money on that dinner so I was expecting a bit more."

  • "My husband and i were there for "Bite of the Rock," and chose the $25 menu. The lamb dish I had was delicious; the leg of lamb was large, tender, succulent and juicy. The desserts were good, too. My husband's salmon wellington was okay. A very small restaurant with just 8 tables, and the right wait time between courses. Live music on Saturday night, but only a few diners."

The specials were perfectly done and everything seemed so fresh; in particular the Lamb Shank special was melt in your mouth, with a red wine sauce that really complemented it. Prices are quite reasonable. We also enjoyed the subtle live music, which we understand is every Fri/Sat evening. Since we live in the area, we'll be sure to go back and take some other friends as well."
