A word from Jane
Jane is a casual American bistro located between Greenwich Village and Soho. Since April 2001, neighborhood regulars and destination diners alike flock to Jane for its value-priced brunch, lunch and dinner menus. Jane also serves as an ideal location for private events, from business dinners to baby showers.

At Jane, the menu showcases an affinity for local ingredients with what New York magazine calls “cleverly tweaked but unpretentious American cuisine.” To complement the food, Jane offers a hand-selected, extensive wine list and seasonally driven cocktails.

Jane is the sister restaurant to The Smith East Village, The Smith Lincoln Center and The Smith Midtown.

  • "A little crowded, but fine place to grab brunch with friends. For that many people, the food was served fast enough. Would be great to have outdoor dining available. Will be back"

  • "Jane is a really great place to go for brunch. For their Sunday brunch they offer a complimentary cocktail to accompany your delicious food. BUT, be forewarned, if you are there for Sunday brunch NY State Law prohibits them from serving you alcohol before noon on Sundays!"

  • "I took a friend from out-of-town here and we LOVED it! Friends joined us for the meal and everyone had nothing but the best to say when walking out!"

  • "The food was delicious! We started with the gnocchi which was to die for. So delicious honestly it's the signature plate of the restaurant. We had it as a starter but they do have it as a meal. We also had the crispy bacon it was a little too fatty for us but if you're into that you may like it. I had the lobster roll which was very fresh and delicious. The rosemary fries were a great side. For dessert we had the milk and cookies. OMG it was perfect it's an other must have at Jane's. The service was great and they had a great sense of humor. They gave us great tips and make us laugh. All in all a great time."

  • "this is my third time back and each time was really good!"

  • "Pleasant and casual neighborhood dining. Fresh food prepared well with good sized portions. Gnocchi was very good and brick pressed chicken was moist and flavorful. Interesting wines by the glass available. Very attentive and helpful servers. Only unsuccessful items were Brussel Sprouts (nearly burnt to a crisp) and ice cream (all ice chips, little cream)."

  • "French toast was the best I've ever had...don't pa an extra $5 for the fruit, not worth it...Eggs Benedict...delicious..."

  • "I had heard good things about The Jane, so I was happy to score an online reservation for Sunday morning brunch. I didn't check until Wednesday, so they were completely full between 10:45 and 2:15, even just for a party of 2, so we ended up on the earlier side. Still, there were a lot of people waiting outside, and the restaurant was packed. We ran a little bit late, but were still seated without a problem. The ambiance was vibrant and bustling, but not too loud to hold a conversation. The food was definitely above-average, the Vanilla Bean French Toast was both formidable and delectable. Prices were fair, and included a drink with our entrees, which, unfortunately, couldn't be served until noon, but ended up being worth the wait."

  • "We met some friends from Bklyn (we're up in Inwood) and Houston Street seemed like a good "in the middle" location. It was a quite surprise. The food was excellent and the staff very pleasant and helpful. We had an 11:30 reservation and we were seating as soon as our full party had arrived. Would definitely recommend the place and come back again."

  • "Visited Jane in July 2014 while on a girls trip. The French toast was everything it claimed to be. Brunch cocktails were great, although my menu stated you received a complimentary cocktail with brunch entree and when we received the bill were told that is only Sundays. Still a great brunch experience and location in NYC. Would definitely recommend."

  • "I have been to JANE several times and have never been disappointed. This time I brought out-of-town friends and they enjoyed it very much, too. We'll definitely be coming back!"

  • "Good food (the brick-pressed chicken was moist and delicious), friendly service, widely spaced tables, an excellent spot for a long late lunch with friends at reasonable price. Instead of trying to get rid of us after more than two hours, the manager came over to ask if we were being taken care of. We were."

  • "The good: Perfectly poached eggs & Crispy potato fries, delicious! Very attentive service! The not-so-good: Breakfast corn dogs' batter was 'freshly made' but the ingredients may have been sour :( Jessica, the very nice hostess, took it off the bill & gave us a basket of pastries. Thank you! :)"

  • "We have been going back to Jane for several years now. Their salads are amazing. Same for the gnocchi. We are addicted to the steak frites (sp?). And we've always enjoyed the desserts. I recommend the milk and cookies. They also have homemade sodas that are worth trying. We are already looking forward to returning, and we just went last weekend."

  • "The food was fresh and tasted divine. The only bad thing was I wanted more of everything! Our waitress was well informed and wonderful. The gnocchi's were done to perfection and the cherry pie melted in my mouth. Loved it."

  • "I love this restaurant especially for their brunch menu. My favorite is the Benedict Jane, always delicious. I make reservations because otherwise there is a wait, and I always get seated on time."

  • "Ok...I've read the reviews, looked at the photos and expected a wonderful Sunday brunch experience at Jane but the famous vanilla French toast was just alright. I've had better in LA for half the price. The Benedict Jane was average (and I know my Benedicts) and the potatoes were too crispy. I'm really seriously bewildered by the hype of the reviews of the amazing food--did I go to the same restaurant? Sorry, Jane, but I'm not impressed."

  • "Just a great place for two friends that want to catch-up and not feel as though they are imposing on the staff...we wanted to take our time and enjoy the evening. Everything was just precisely as we ordered, when we ordered and how we ordered. Just a perfect evening with wonderful food...service and care."

  • "The food was good by New York-standards (aka I've had better meals, but it was still near the top of the list) and the interior was so cute. Our waitress was awesome too. So nice, very attentive, but not overly so, and she made the experience that much better. Absolutely recommend it!"

  • "Sorry, Jane was my neighborhood go-to place for brunch. My recent experience was disappointing and makes me worried that Jane has seen better days. The pleasant waiter seemed harried and clearly was more eager to wait on others than us. Entrees took 50% longer to arrive than usual. Benedict Jane was predictably good but my dining partner's chicken and waffle entry was dreadful. An overly seasoned chicken cutlet and dense I-swear-it-had-been-frozen waffle. The chef needs to check out a real chicken and waffle restaurant and revise this entree. Staff could not have been nicer about offering another entree but we just wanted to leave. No offer to comp anything on the bill, not even the extra juice."

  • "We knew to order the gnocchi before we went and were not disappointed. We finished it off quickly and wished we had ordered more. We found ourselves even craving it the next day! The steak salads were good though too, so the meal overall was incredible. We were celebrating a birthday so enjoyed a sampling of desserts. Once again, even this was amazing! We would definitely recommend Jane!"

  • "I've been to Jane numerous times for brunch and it never disappoints. The food and cocktails are delicious and the service is consistently high quality. I've tried every eggs benedict on the menu and usually order a vanilla bean french toast for the table. On my most recent visit I tried the brunch crepes, which was on the lighter side and a great option if you're starting off with a french toast app! My friend ordered the steak and eggs which she was also raving about (it comes with a mac and cheese croquette). A little bit of a pricier option but if you're willing to pay for a good meal, this is a must-visit. Don't forget to make a reservation, otherwise you could be waiting up to 2 hrs for a table."

  • "Jane Restaurant was a great way to start the weekend. I had the Vanilla Bean french toast which was made to perfection. My party member had the lobster eggs benedict and it was equally wonderful!"

  • "I had never been to Jane and decided to give it a whirl since the reviews looked good. They were right. Watermelon salad was fresh and delicious and the gnocchi was creamy delicious. The main courses were a lobster roll and scallops... Another nice choice for both. My friend and I enjoyed hours chatting and so did the rest of the restaurant. I never felt rushed and very welcome. I am definitely recommending this place and going back. It's a keeper !"

  • "My husband, 3 year old son, and I went for brunch on Father's Day. I made reservations ahead of time and we were seated right away. My husband ordered the classic eggs benedict (somes with homefries) which was delicious. I ordered scrambled eggs w/bacon & homefries, which was also great. The bacon was extra thick cut and cooked perfectly. We also ordered a basket of the glazed donuts for the table which I highly recommend. My only complaint was there was no options for my 3 year old other than to order off the regular menu. I paid $11 (plus his juice) for scrambled eggs and bacon ,which he probably ate 1/4 of."

  • "Jane has staying power and has survived changing trends in New York City. It seems to always please - no matter the age or sex of the guests. Beware, however, of long lines and lively chatter on weekends around brunch-time."

  • "I am a frequent diner at the jane (couple of times a month). All of a sudden their menu changed. No more complimentary drink, no more extended drink menu, running out of items at noon.... Not to mention to the food and drinks that were ordered were sub par. Service was great that was the only positive! For a lavish more expensive brunch there are much better options... They should go back to their old ways as maybe that's why it was less crowded on a a Saturday.... Too bad because it used to be a gem"

  • "Went here this past Saturday with a few friends for brunch. The service was excellent, the bloody mary's were spicy and strong, and the food was delicious. Good for any occasion!"

  • "We arrived early for our reservation on a Tuesday (about 20-30 minutes) and they seated us within ten, and we had our orders in by our original reservation time. Staff was very friendly and brunch portions were very filling. Love the special soft drinks as an alternative to the alcoholic ones. "
