A word from Jane
Jane is a casual American bistro located between Greenwich Village and Soho. Since April 2001, neighborhood regulars and destination diners alike flock to Jane for its value-priced brunch, lunch and dinner menus. Jane also serves as an ideal location for private events, from business dinners to baby showers.

At Jane, the menu showcases an affinity for local ingredients with what New York magazine calls “cleverly tweaked but unpretentious American cuisine.” To complement the food, Jane offers a hand-selected, extensive wine list and seasonally driven cocktails.

Jane is the sister restaurant to The Smith East Village, The Smith Lincoln Center and The Smith Midtown.

All specialty brunch menu items looked delicious. I finally decided on "The Johnny", per our excellent server, Emily's suggestion. It was the first time I had not ordered the truffled gnocchi and I was not disappointed. I ate every single bite. Good, spicy Bloody Mary's, too!

Really kind waitstaff who coped well with the brunch rush. Remember that in NYC no alcohol can be served before noon on Sundays, so if you're planning on getting a Bloody Mary or Screwdriver with your entree, consider sleeping in. Waiting time with reservation: 15 minutes. Waiting time without reservation: about an hour.

I used to always take visiting friends here and would go here for special occasions. They have raised their prices several times in the last year. They changed their recipe on my favorite dish. So not only does it cost more but you get less. The hostess is always rude, even when I was having a birthday brunch there. I'm kinda over this place. I hear Penelope is fantastic.

We discovered this for Sunday brunch and we've been coming for couple of years for dinner; recently we've notices food quality have gone down while the prices have gone up slightly. This was our neighborhood place, we need to look for a new restaurant. For the amount we pay there are many other better restaurant with more interesting menu.

I booked this place for brunch to celebrate the success if a project with my team. It was 8 of us and my one year old baby. As soon as we get there The blond hostess was already being extremely rude to us beacuse we had ONE person missing. The 8th person was stuck on the subway. The baby doesn't understand that we can not eat beacuse we are ahort one person so I explained the situation and she proceed to be rude and told us we would have to wait 30min. What's the point of making a reservation them?? We left and went to Dos Caminos and had a great time!!

I've only been to Jane twice but each time was a great experience. Both times I went for brunch and this time the service was actually better. I wish I could remember the waitresses name but she was sweet and very attentive. Must try the Lobster Egg Benedict! so filling and the buttermilk biscuit instead of the traditional English muffin is an awesome choice.

Tried their sweet and savory brunch items, all very nice. Everything crepe and their rosemary home fries are definitely worth noting. Wish they can expand their pancake, french toast choice, these are very brunch popular, if they can do their own twist and add new elements into them, they should be a big hit too ( now the french toast is just normal, nothing special, and no pancake option).

Finally scored a brunch reservation here for a birthday celebration. Many were waiting for tables but we were quickly seated. Our waiter David V. could not have been more obliging, and there seemed to be backup servers accompanying him at all times. All our needs were anticipated. A lovely young woman brought us a dessert (in addition to those we had ordered) that the waiter sent to our table at the end of the meal. It's hard to make brunch very different (it's mostly about the eggs), but the menu had inventive touches like a lobster benedict dishes; the Balthazar pastry basket ($13) was bountiful and sublime; and the desserts we tried (panne cotta with yogurt, a grownup take on smores and flourless chocolate) were excellent.

Picked Jane to try out for a quick dinner for three of us on a Friday evening. For a busy evening, the service was exceptional -- attentive and upbeat. Can't say enough about our waitress. The menu was fairly straightforward -- salmon, steaks, chicken -- but all well prepared and with serving sizes that were just enough without being either too skimpy or too much. Will definitely include on our list of places to visit the next time we're down in SoHo.

We arrived on a hot, muggy day, inside it was cool, if a bit noisy. We were seated immediately and served promptly. I thought the food took a bit too long to prepare, but realized, when it arrived that 1. it was worth the wait, and 2. you don't get perfect poached eggs if you rush. The food was delicious and my visitor really loved everything about Jane.

I like Jane--the food is solid, especially the quiche, which is delicious (the secret is brie). But overall it's a bit pricey, with brunch entrees averaging around $18, even if the portions are big. They did give us the option to order a half-portion of the French Toast which was still plenty big. Oh and the coffee is kind of bland.
