JamoneraShould be called Ja-mazing-era!Amazing food and fantastic service. Our server's name was Jessica and when we told her it was our first time eating there she knew every detail on the menu and gave stellar recommendations. One of which was "order anything, it's all good." and she wasn't kidding. Tapas style eating meant to be eaten by no more than 5 people per dish, I think 4 would be ideal. Every single dish we ordered had amazing flavors and every single dish had it's own unique flavors so you weren't just getting the same type of tastes with every dish. Scallops were one of my favorites out of the 12 or 13 dishes we ordered as a group. After the first bite I think I temporarily blacked out, it was so good. We're definitely going back and taking friends!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAll six of us loved this restaurantAll six of us loved this restaurant -- they kindly accommodated our extra person, even thpugh we had reserved for five and they were full. The decor is perfect to set the scene for Spanish tapas. The servers were knowledgable and attentive but not overbearing. The food was outstanding -- truly innovative, flavorful, so much better than the typical tapas tastes -- and beautifully presented. They didn't rush us; the place was lively but we could still have a conversation; the drinks were excellent. We all agreed we want to return.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!Great selection of tapas, attentive and friendly service, and a romantic ambiance to boot! Great find!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicioso! The creative team that owns Barbuzzo & Lolita have done it again! Jamonera is a must try- while I wont go into detail about the delicious tapas we ordered (5-6 tapas seems to be the perfect number for a table of 2), I will highlight the best desert I've ever had, their olive oil ice cream over dark chocolate lava cake with sea salt and dark chocolate nips. Olive oil ice cream?? Yes, vanilla ice cream *churned (my best guess) with olive oil, was so unbelievably smooth & creamy. The mix of this ice cream with the dark chocolate and sea salt was the most amazing combo, definitely the best desert I've ever had. Jamonera has made my list of favorite restaurants.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good!A friend and I tried Jamonera last Friday night and we loved the food. The presentation was awesome and we enjoyed all the small plates we ordered.. server was nice but it got busy towards the end and we had to wait for our check. It was no big deal, overall a great place to eat.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentWhile we really miss Bindi, Jamonera was wonderful - excellent food, well-presented, and wonderful service consistent with the other Turney/Safran restaurants. Shaved salad, vegetable tapas board, and paella were excellent.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper! This was our second dining experience. Our server was friendly and super knowledgable regarding the sherry list!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food has been consistentlyThe food has been consistently outstanding at each of my visits. Combined with competent and attentive service, this restaurant shocases some unique food in a lively, fun environment.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNot your typical tapas placeRated one of philadelphia's 50 best restaurants for 2013, Jamomera won't disappoint. Only downside is that it is small, so feels a little cramped especially if more than 6-8 in your party. That being said, tapas were all uniformly excellent to outstanding. They do well with seafood and veggie dishes in particular. Must try their desserts, especially the sundae with sea salt caramel and pound cake.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMVery goodHad a great experience. Food was amazing very flavorful. Waitress was excellent and very helpful with the Spanish menu. We had 6 small plates and dessert we were very pleased with the size of the plates and the prices. We will be visiting here again.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDate NightGreat for date night, which should be an option on recommending this restaurant. Food was very good! The fried dough for dessert is beyond amazing!!! Love the Spanish breakfast and the potatoes.
If you haven't been to Jamonera- what are you waiting for?5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. The eggplantExcellent food. The eggplant fries were a special addition to the menu and were delicious.. perfectly cooked with a soft inside and slightly crunchy outside and a fantastic sauce. A rice dish also greatly impressed as did the octopus and a beat/goat cheese salad. The service was good and the ambiance is nice but the food is definitely the highlight. The bar scene is great here as well!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous! The paella was wonderfulFabulous! The paella was wonderful and the other small plates were excellent! Our party of five shared 9 or 10 plates and a few desserts. No rush on our party although we had one of the few big tables. Quiet enough to catch up with good friends yet a great energetic vibe.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a great restaurant! The food at Jamonera was excellent! There was a lot of variety and the blending of the flavors with the sauces and the spices was outstanding. Our server was very helpful in explaining all the items on the menu. We will definitely go back!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food!We loved our meal at Jamonera. Wonderful combinations of flavors and textures. We ordered a variety of dishes and shared them among the four of us. We enjoyed each dish. The service was excellent, and we did not feel rushed. It's another gem for this restaurant group!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother HitMarcie Turney has done it again. Another Gem in a line of gems. Despite several stiff competitors including Amada and Tintos she has given Philadelphia another delicious and unique Spanish influenced choice. Every dish was fabulous, well prepared, presented and interesting mix of flavors. Only let down was the rubbery squid in the octopus dish. When one orders octopus, they want octopus, not squid. Nice selection of sherries as well as wines. We loved it, and hope this will be the first of many visits5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas PlusJamonera was a wonderful dining experience. The delicious, well-crafted food, the attentive and helpful service and the urban, store front atmosphere made the evening very pleasurable. Ordering just five items from among the small plates, salads, etc. gave my wife and I a great selection to share and savor. The specialty cocktails, wines, and vermouth complemented the food. Jamonera is a first class dining experience in concept and execution. Don't miss it!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and Majorcan wineThe food and Majorcan wine pairings were a delight. The chef and managers know what they are doing!!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, fun atmosphereThe food at Jamonera was fabulous. Particularly enjoyed the lamb with lentil special. Waitstaff was attentive and made great suggestions for beverage and small plate selections. On a beautiful night with the windows open, was fun to be part of the street scene. We'll go back!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMJamoneraGreat place to dine and experience a wide variety of tapas dishes. Food and service was outstanding. I recommend taking another couple with you so you can order more to sample.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Jamonera. This was myLove Jamonera. This was my second time. Felt I'd ordered badly, but still enjoyed the meal.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMKeeps getting better!Every time we go to jamonera, the food just seems to get better and better. I just wish they'd bring back the ice cream sundae for dessert!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGood TapasThe food and service were very good. The variety of the tapas plates was excellent. The tables are rather close together making the noise level energetic. However, make sure your reservations are not "accidentally" cancelled. My reservation was cancelled even though the restaurant called the day before to confirm and I later found out, through Open Table, that the reservation was cancelled earlier on the day we were to eat there. Not knowing this, we arrived a half hour early for the reservation and were told "we are not open yet". They did seat us when we returned at the given time, even though the reservation was not there, but they did find my name in their system.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBrought my friend from NYCBrought my friend from NYC here for the first time. She was overly impressed and felt the food was better quality and more bang for your buck than what she was used to.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed ourWe thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Our server was a charming young woman who was most helpful with choices. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very enjoyable. Look forward to returning. My friends and I dine out for our birthdays and keep a diary of our experiences. This was one of the exceptional ones. Thanks!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMloved the vodka drink madeloved the vodka drink made with passion fruit.
The vegetarian tapas dish was outstanding as was the spanish octopus
we also loved the seafood paella
The warm donuts topped off an amazing meal
The service was a tad haphazard - perhaps because it was a busy night. Our main course came before the appetizers and the drinks were very slow in coming. But the outstanding flavors and preparation of the food more than made up for the spotty service. The server was very pleasant.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time for both my friendFirst time for both my friend and I. Service was excellent and the food was delicious.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall Place, big flavorGreat little place but it's VERY small and the tables are extremely close together and pretty small for the style of dining (lots of small plates). It was difficult to hear each other. The food was really good, we particularly enjoyed the octopus and fried goat cheese salad. It's worth another visit, the next time we're in Philly. Also within walking distance from our hotel.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite restaurantWe try to eat at Jamonera whenever we come to the orchestra or the theater from our home in Bucks county. To us it is all about the food and the food at Jamonera is great.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and nice ambianceGood food and nice ambiance though outdoors is noisy with traffic.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our dinner on aWe enjoyed our dinner on a Friday night. Would love to go again. Service was very attentive. It is a shame the restaurant is so small.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMvery good, authentic spanishvery good, authentic spanish seasoning. great experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSpanish in PhillyVery good Spanish tapas restaurant in Philly. Be inquisitive and adventurous when dining here. Try the paella. Yum!!!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Experience!I have read about Jamonera for over a year and finally had the opportunity (and pleasure) of dining there last Sunday. The food capitalized on simple(and local) ingredients to achieve a very complex and flavorful meal. The tasting menu (served on Sundays) was a great introduction to the various menu items offered. My favorite was the flank steak, but I absolutely loved every small plate! I would definitely recommend Jamonera to anyone who likes small plates and a wide selection of tastes (including a great selection of vegetarian options).4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI go to a restaurant to eat.I go to a restaurant to eat. Jamonera has great, not good, but great food.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMust try the skirt steak!Must try the skirt steak! However, I loved everything from the salad to the sangria. Our server Jess was very knowledgable about the food and drink list! Highly recommend4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food and service.Very good food and service. On my next visit, I'll ask for more time between courses.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodEvery aspect of this tapas restauant was lovely. The food was delicious and well timed, the service helfpul but unobtrusive. We will definitely go again.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Find!We will be back. Tried lots of items which were incredibly wonderful. In a major 'eating' area in Philly an early reservation allowed us a break from the Saturday bustle before a movie date at the other end of town.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is so delicious andThe food is so delicious and innovative..had the same server as last fall (unfortunately I am forgetting her name!) and she is so personable and knowledgable about the menu items. She never has to go "ask the Chef" when asked to describe a dish or to define an ingredient that one may not recognize. Love this restaurant!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI can not say enough aboutI can not say enough about Jamonera. Great food and excellent service. Will be a repeat customer.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDelishThe food at Jamonera was delish. I have already recommended it to several people. It is great for people who are adventurous and like to try new thing because you can order many small plates. We left feeling satisfied, but not overstuffed. Our waitress walked us through the menu to make sure we took full advantages of our dining experience. My husband and I had a great date night and can't wait to go back!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe low, red lighting withThe low, red lighting with loads of candles created a great vibe. We chose the bar over our table because the stools were nice and cushy. It turned out to be the right choice, as our bartender was incredibly knowledgeable about the Spanish wine selection and allowed us to taste each wine before selecting! There wasn't a bad choice on the menu, the food was rich and portioned great for tapas. Ask about their vermouth selection, we were quite pleased with learning more about vermouth and look forward to testing the rest of the after dinner drink menu next time! We will be back.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMYum. Tapas where you toughtYum. Tapas where you tought it couldn't get any better and it did.
It was my 1st time there but certainly not my last.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit of Spain in PhillyThe best tapas I've had in Philadelphia, (Yes, I've been to Amada.) EVERYTHING was perfect! Exquisite little bites, with perfect, delicate sauces to accompany them. The sauce that accompanies the squash croquettes is gorgeous! The romesco is divine. We've been back twice since our first night, and can't wait to go back.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect neighborhood spotTerrific Spanish and Portuguese-inspired tapas-style dining in a hip part of the Center City. The warm wood interior, long window-side banquette, and candlelit tables make for a cozy setting for rustic dishes. The scallops and eggplant fries were standouts. If I still lived in Philly, I'd drop in often.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Dessert wasExcellent food. Dessert was particularly outstanding.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, inventive, creativeDelicious, inventive, creative fresh food...beautifully prepared and presented. Wonderful atmosphere, Fabulous & attentive server...2/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great surprise thisWhat a great surprise this was! My dinner was just wonderful. Where shall I begin - fried bread with white bean spread - delicious; dorade in parchment - wonderful. Everything was just great. The service was friendly and very attentive. Our server seemed genuinely glad that we were there for the first time.
Don't miss it!1/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a must tryOur first time at Jamonera! We loved it! Our waitress "Jess" was the best waitress we have had in a long time and we dine out 2-3 times per week! Ask for her, she will make your dining experience even better! The food....what else can we say...it was fabulous! A must try is the duck sausage/bruchette. Awesome! Also try the fried califlower. Even kids will like this vegetable prepared this way. Braised short ribs melted in your mouth. Dried meats and cheese dish reminded us of Spain. All in all an excellent meal. My only complaint is the wine list. We could not find a wine we liked. We like heavy, big, bold wines and the Spanish wines they offered were wimpy. Maybe next we will get the sangria. We will return soon.1/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
