Diner Reviews
  • "We had tickets for a show at Center East and we're pleasantly surprised that there was a Jameson's next door. We rarely eat steaks, but truly enjoyed this rare indulgence. Portions were excellent--cuts of meat and preparation were excellent. We also had a sincerely friendly and helpful waiter. We will return."

  • "Went there for our anniversary before theater show next store. Food was very good and our waiter was very good. He even brought us a dessert with a candle and sang happy anniversary to us. Very nice touch."

  • "I went to Jameson's on a special occasion to celebrate my mother's birthday. There were five in our party. I had made the reservation in advance through OpenTable with a special request for a round table in the front of the restaurant. My request was noted and we had a great location and our waitress was attentive and very helpful, she even suggested a beverage of her own creation for my mother and my mother really enjoyed it. The food and service were both excellent!"

  • "As part of the meal I ordered, I was able to order a soup and salad. Because the French Onion soup was a special, I had to pay the full price. Fine. I was ok with that. The waiter brought it out and it was THE.SALTIEST.SOUP.EVER! I took one sip and had to send it back. I received the bill and the soup WAS STILL ON THE BILL! The chicken stuck my teeth every time I chewed it. WAY too overpriced and was NOT worth the money. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN."

  • "However, too much food. Eliminate the soup and salad additions to dinner items."

  • "We keep going here because of its proximity to the theater. I'm impressed with the improvement in service. Not sure if Frank is a new manager or new to us, but we were well treated despite our mistake on our reservation time (we were 30 minutes late). Frank suggested we wait in the hotel lobby where we were promptly served a cocktail. I was very impressed with how quickly the large number of people who arrived at the same time were seated. I wasn't impressed with the food in previous visits, but have been exploring the menu nonetheless. Ordering Greek specialties is a good bet. Their octopus is perfect as was the fish in the avgolemono sauce. Service was prompt and we made our concert on time thanks to good attention."

  • "We had to wait 10 minutes to get our table and we were going to a play so we needed fast service. The manager assured us that we would be finished in plenty of time. When we were seated the waitress came over immediately and took our order (They had let us look at a menu while we were waiting so we knew what we wanted to eat) We had a wonderful waitress (Ashley). She was very pleasant and cheerful. Our order came quickly but we weren't rushed. She came back to our table often so check on us...always with a great smile!. The food was prepared exactly as we ordered and we were very pleased with our experience."

  • "We frequent Jameson's a lot and had some issues in the past but this time our service was excellent and the food was great! The only problem we have with Jameson's is they don't have a bathroom. You have to walk all the way to the hotel to use the restroom. That's tough on the handicapped."

  • "Went to restaurant for a double anniversary celebration, mine and hubbys, and parents. From the start the service was friendly attentive. Waiter made sure we were clear on all options. All meals were amazing, cooked as ordered, fresh, hot, nice presentation and delicious. Water glasses and other beverages were always full. An enjoyable evening overall. Found out about weekend brunch and will definitely try that too. Disappointed when mom found her cell phone was missing & she called the same evening & asked the hostess to check for the cell phone for her. Hostess was very uncooperative, refusing to check & told her call back tomorrow. Next morning a lovely woman at the front took me back to the section where we sat and I found the phone."

  • "Great location for dinner before performance at Skokie Center for the Performing Arts. Restaurant friendly and efficient with good menu options for fundamental fare. Comfortable, convenient and reasonably priced."

  • "Jameson's was so close to the theatre next door, that it seemed an ideal choice because we were attending a show. We had a reservation and we were seated promptly. However, the food was only okay. My friend had a fish special, and he said the fish was just okay. The rice did have a good flavor. I had a burger, and again, it was just okay. I know what a good burger tastes like, and I was disappointed. I am gluten and dairy-free, so without cheese or bun, I can really taste the meat. Also, since I could not have the bun or either of the two soups offered (one with tortellini and one with cream), I asked if I could have a small salad. The waitress said I would have to pay an extra $2.00. I thought that was ridiculous and didn't order it."

  • "We are frequent diners here and usually our experience is wonderful. My complaint is not with our service during our meal but with our experience waiting to be seated. I had a 6:30 reservation and we were not seated for almost an hour later. In addition the rudeness and lack of acknowledgement from the hostess was unacceptable. Once we were seated however our waiter was excellent and the food was great."

  • "This last Sunday evening our dinner experience was a big disappointment. When our dinner arrived, the soups were cold. The second time around the soups were not hot. I asked for a chopped salad , but the salad wasn't chopped. Our waiter apologized and wanted to take my salad back, but I told him that we had theater tickets and we were running out of time. My husband's hamburger came well done and he ordered medium rare."

  • "Okay, this place is only acceptable because of the proximity to the theater. We ordered deep-fried calamari for the table at the recommendation of the waiter. Great if you like raw, damp flour; that was what we found at the "center" of the rings. They must use the fryer too often to get the oil back up to temp. Salads are blasé; my filet mignon was tender but flavorless (but that is typical of that cut). No good sear on it, though -- blame the line chef. My husband had french fries that were thick, more "baked-like" than fried... I had rice (Uncle Ben's?) that was a gross heap. I rate this on a par with Cracker Barrel with a liquor license. Stick with hamburgers and don't count on the fries. I rated "good" for burgers & location."

  • "Good food. Friendly from the moment you enter. Serving staff really wants you to enjoy your visit. Management checks in at the table to make sure everything is okay. We celebrated a birthday, and they brought cake, candles, sang with us, and the dessert was complimentary. The menu is large with enough variety for everyone. For steaks, the level is probably a step below some of the great steak houses in downtown Chicago, otherwise, no negatives."

  • "Second time at Jamesons's. Very old clientele. Food is cheaper than a big steakhouse but much lower quality. The presentation is terrible-- a big hunk of bland steamed broccoli is a side on every entree. Wines by the glass are very poor quality. Steaks are very average."

  • "The restaurant was way too warm and the sound level is way too loud for our liking. We like quiet romantic dinners and they always seat us by the kitchen which is very noisy. There is no restroom in the restaurant. You have to walk next door to the hotel which is not easy for the handicapped. The food was good though! Our waiter was very nice and a great job!"

  • "Not one of the best experiences. We were seated in a corner, very corner table, that was difficult to get to and felt cramped. Food just so so. Service was average."

  • "Jameson's Skokie is a good all around venue catering to standard consistent and classic menu from fish to rack of lamb. What I/we enjoy is the consistency and choices of the menu - the never miss true cocktails and the ambience. Thank you, Jameson's."

  • "First time there and the food was great! The service was excellent, especially our waitress Shelley. We had reservations and even though we still waited about 45 minutes, the manager gave us free appetizers. The food was great and the price exceptional. I recommend it to everyone!"

  • "we had reservations but weren't seated until 25 minutes after the time. We needed to get to a show. The manager offered us drinks and gave us free appetizer but my friend had the same issue a few weeks earlier. Most people are there on Saturday night for the show so they shouldn't book as many people. Once seated we were served very, very quickly to keep us on time but would rather have had a leisurely dinner as planned."

  • "I used to go the Jameson's in Arlington Heights years ago that restaurant was excellent in all aspects! This location was not one that I would go back to! Made reservations for 7:15pm were not seated until 7:40pm the food was mediocre at best... Ordered the filet kebobs and the meat did not taste very fresh. Very disappointing. Service was not great either... took over 20 mins for the waitress to even take our order."

  • "I'd asked for a booth when making reservations earlier in the week, but there were none available when we arrived. We had a table in the traffic pattern from the kitchen. Winter, and no easy place for our coats. This particular Jameson's is very close to the Northlight Theater venue and so exceptionally convenient for a cold and snowy night when parking just once is the idea. I would return because of another theater or concert outing, but not for simply a meal out. I'd recommend it for people attending programs at the nearby performing arts center."

  • "We had a very pleasurable meal. We informed the waiter that we needed to be finished by a certain time to make it to the theater. He made sure we did not order anything that would not allow us to be finished by our requested time. The ambiance was pleasant. We had made a reservation and did not have to wait for our table. The room was a little noisy but we could hear each other speak. We will go back again and would recommend it to others."

  • "We all ordered hamburgers as their Sunday menu did not have lunch options. The hamburger was dry and I don't like fat french fries so I did not eat any of them. The service was good on the whole, although it took a long time to get coffee and tea. It was convenient to the theater, but we felt the menu was expensive."

  • "Our waitress started by asking us if we were going to a show next door at Northlight. Then she paced the meal nicely for us so we never felt rushed. The spinach artichoke dip was a bit mild but good. I ended up putting some of it in my broccoli soup for just for fun. Two of us got burgers. Very tasty, but hilarious that it comes with bread and a pretty big portion of soup. A crazy amount of food."

  • "Perfect locale to meet before or after the matinee at Northlight Theater. Service, which has been spotty in the past, was excellent on Saturday. Food, I had the chicken shish kebob, was great. Our waitress was excellent."

  • "Serves the theatre crowd from the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, next door. Crowded after a program lets out but we got our reserved table within 5 minutes of the scheduled time, plus they were accommodating to expand it to 4 from 2 when we ran into friends. Food was great. Service a bit slow and sporadic. It was a busy Saturday night but a restaurant should know what the traffic flow is going to be when shows are going on next door. Would definitely recommend Jameson's and will be going back ourselves."
