  • Not what I expected

I have heard raves about Jameson's for years. I was disappointed. It is very old fashioned in its decor and the food was very "meat and potatoes." It is a steak place so I should have expected what I got, but I ordered fish with veggie sides. My green beans tasted canned and were drenched in butter or oil. Not pleasant at all. The "salad" was romaine lettuce with one cherry tomato. For a $21 lunch, I expected more. And being so highly touted, I would expect more modern fare.

I was a little worried going at 6:45 on a Saturday night. No, we could find parking (only complaint with Mt Propect location), After driving around a few times, used valet. Got there around 6:30. It was packed. We thought we would have to wait for ever based on the crowd hanging around front waiting to be seating. Pleasantly surprise when they called our name at 6:45! Food was awesome. Nothing, ala carte, It comes with soup, salad, veggie and potato! Three of us had steaks, mine a filet, cooked to perfection. My husband had ribs that were just as good and fell off of the bones. The waitress was great (Jenny, I think). It was packed but she was always there for us checking, making sure all is good and if we need anything. Plus she had a great personality and seem truly happy doing her job and helping customers. Definately, recommend (try earlier to avoid parking issues).

Although our reservation was at 7:30 not 7:00, my fault. The hostess was still very accommodating as she recognized our 17 month old son was not going to wait 30 minutes. Their signature steak the 28oz ribeye was perfect as was the shrimp and filet combo my wife ordered. Service was awesome and we were out in 90 minutes. Upon departure our son even waved to the chefs and I said thank you for him, for which they all acknowledged by simultaneously waving back at him. He was impressed.

Went to Jamieson's for my sister's birthday with 3 other girlfriends. The food and service was great, couldn't ask for more. Received our loaf of bread and butter, as soon as it was gone, it was replaced with a new one. Waiter even brought Fran a free dessert, Tiramisu, with a candle. Had a great night. Excellent pork chops and filet. French onion soup w/cheese is to die for.

Three of us all had the parmesan crusted sea bass. Was so good. It came with soup or salad. And you can select from several potato and veg choices. I had the mashed sweet potato and the green beans. Everything was really good and reasonably priced. Service was superb. And I had 1/2 the fish left for dinner the next day.

We had a table for five (10-3-2014)....the entire dinner was flawless except for me....I asked for a porterhouse medium rare....closer to medium than rare...it came out 45% borderline raw! But it was hot enough to eat, but wasn't 100% happy!

This was our first time at this location. The food was great and the service was too. Otherwise is was not very enjoyable. The restaurant was very crowded and extremely noisy. We had to shout to talk to each other. Tables are very close to each other. The parking situation was terrible although they do have valet service. They should never put a restaurant in a location with so little room to park. The building looks a little worse for the wear too. It could use a remodel. Don't go on a Saturday night.

Jameson's in Mount Prospect never disappoints. The food is always good and there is plenty of it with soup and salad, a large entree and delicious bread. Drinks are reasonable and the evenings there are most pleasant. My one critique would have to be the Hostess stand. They could use a bit more friendliness and a more welcoming attitude. I know that reservations are a must if you do not want a long wait but they are not on top of seating those with reservations promptly. I don't mind a few minutes wait but much more with a reservation is just not in the best interest of the customer or the restaurant . Still one of our favorite go to's in the NW burbs.

The sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo was great! Meal came with soup, salad, vegi, choice of potato or rice. Loved the chicken tortellini soup! It was an amazing meal!

We have been to Jameson's many times - always a great place to go - you never leave hungry and the prices are good. Waitress was pushy on purchasing the highest priced items on the menu and I did not appreciate that. I always tip well but if it happens again the waitress will only get a 5% tip.

The calamari was tender, the french onion soup was almost too salty but the gooey cheese on top made it irresistible, my sirloin steak could have been much better, the balsamic glaze was not reduced enough (tasted like wine), and I made a request for a surprise birthday dessert following our meal but they never fulfilled the request. I had to ask the server in front of the birthday guest even though this is the host's responsibility.

We have been dining at Jamesons for years. It is always a great value and the last place that still offers soup and salad with their entrees. I always go back for their macadamia crusted halibut and it never disappoints. Service was particularly slow this Saturday evening due to what seems like may have been a large party in another room. It was still an enjoyable dining experience though. Other than one gentleman in our party needing to send back his London broil because it was overcooked, the meals were fine. They brought him a second plate that was cooked to his liking, however, it was overly salted. The waitress did offer us dessert for our troubles however the kitchen selected for us which we found strange.

First time at Jameson's in Mt Prospect, it was what everyone told me it would be. My Wife and I went to celebrate our Anniversary. The drinks were outstanding. The French Onion Soup was Excellent, my bone in rib eye Outstanding. My Wife had the Greek style Chilean Sea Bass and she was very pleased with that. This was a great experience and we will be back. I'm not a fish eater, but next time I want to try the Walleye Pike. Thank you Jameson's for a great evening.

My bf and I decided to go here because we were looking for something different - we remembered the gift cards we received on Christmas, and decided to try it out. I had only been here for lunch and he hadn't been here in years. The food was so good! The amount of food for the price isn't bad at all! We had a 7:15 p.m. reservation but showed up about 20 minutes early - 6:55 p.m. on a Saturday night - and they were still able to seat us within about 10 minutes - BEFORE our reservation time! That never happens! Definitely will be returning!

Jameson's leaves much to be desired. Basically, it is a typical Greek restaurant with a menu that offers too many options and too much food. The french onion soup was good, the salad lacked crunch and the salad dressing lacked flavor. The steaks were ordered medium and arrived rare with a side of overcooked broccoli. The sauteed mushrooms tasted like propane. The decor is old and in much need of an overhaul. I would not recommend this restaurant.
