The service was good but that evening it was a little slow. I guess they were busy so it took a while for us to get our food. Even with this we would all for sure come back again."

  • "This is my 5th visit to James at the Mill. We sat for about 20 minutes before a waiter appeared. From there on, it was spotty attention. We noticed the tables that were drinking heavily were getting all of the attention from the waiter. My steak was great but my wife's halibut was overcooked. Overall I was disappointed with the service and the food was good but not spectacular."

  • "Wonderful tasting food, great service and nice atmosphere. It's just too expensive to do on a regular basis. Food isn't that expensive to purchase and it shouldn't be this expensive to prepare and serve. They have a well deserved reputation, so be prepared to pay for it."

I had a taste of each of his courses in addition to my order of a chicken breast that was beautifully presented and delicious. This is a wonderful destination dining experience."

Our first experience for having such a nice date night was excellence. The service was great, the food was fresh and the steaks melted in out mouths.   • "This was our first visit to the James, we were a party of five celebrating a birthday. Loved the decor, very trendy! The food and service were incredible. I had the tasting menu with the wine pairing which I highly recommend. The rest of the party ordered a variety of things from seafood, pasta and beef. Everything was cooked to perfection. We loved all the items in the bread basket, especially the biscuits. The desserts did not disappoint. The coffee drinkers in our group also commented on how good the their coffee was. Also, do not miss ordering a drink from their cocktail menu, they have a great bartender. We will definitely be coming back to eat at James at the Mill. "

  • "I was disappointed with the pork tenderloin. It was flavorless and not at all tender. Thankfully the Brussels sprouts and potato-goat cheese croquette were delightful. A companion said his salmon was perfectly cooked but a bit bland. Another companion described her chicken as so-so. That said, the crab cake appetizer and chocolate cake dessert were delightful. "

  • "A repeat trip; the busiest of several. VERY energetic, too much so for the price at this visit. Food, typically good, inventive, fine combinations and excellent presentations. Had the Tasting Menu; great variety. Asparagus Risotto outstanding. Agnolotto good but odd in deep bowl, difficult to handle. Better in shallow bowl. Halibut GREAT! Quail good but also odd for this format. Had to use hands, no way around it. Berry Cobbler good but not very "special". Service attentive; efficient and hurried if not warm. However, it was busy. Seem to always be able to count on quality though for a special evening/meal. Hopefully, popularity will not precede a decline in what makes James at the Mill so special. Will return to be sure. "

  • "I went to James at the Mill for Mother's Day Brunch with three families, who are sometimes hard to please. James at the Mill blew us all away with their service. We sat in a private dining room overlooking the mill and had amazing service. My father even joked with our waitress to place a piece of bacon on everyone's plate and she provided even that odd request. The highlight of the service was Chef James coming to greet us. Overall a great location, great food and even more amazing service. "

  • "Food was good and could almost be called great. However, the service was painstakingly slow. Got one of our orders wrong and it was going to be 20 minutes to correct - so after waiting too long already, one of us had to eat something that wasn't ordered, just so the evening would end. Additionally, there was only a fixed price menu available. Don't know if that is normal as we were there on graduation weekend. While the food was good - it was not worth the fixed price menu. "

  • "We visited the restaurant both nights of our state at the Inn at the Mill, once for drinks and once for dinner. Service was exceptional, friendly and professional without being officious. We enjoyed the food and give it high marks for presentation, but felt like the chef could focus more on a central taste sensation. I ordered halibut, and it came with a pesto sauce on top, sun dried tomatoes on the side, dollops of tomato sauce on the corners of the plate, green beans strewn around the base of the halibut, and a couple of other flavors on the plate. Seven different distinct flavors or a total of 49 possible flavor combinations. It was too much! The wine list is extensive. A vegetarian option would balance out the menu."

I could not have been more pleased with our selection. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and a great view. The wait staff was knowledgeable and very courteous. Our meal was without a doubt the best meal I have had at any restaurant here since moving to NWA two years ago. There tasting menu is available as a whole, or individual specials, and I highly recommend it! This is a great restaurant to spend a special evening or just enjoy a great meal! "

  • "Let me first say that the food is PHENOMENAL. My date and I shared their take on the corn dog for an appetizer, and I highly recommend it. Our entrees were both delicious as well. The service was prompt and attentive, but not too much. The only thing that needs to be changed is the decor. It felt almost as if I stepped into a 1990's Disney resort. It's a great restaurant though. Don't let the decor fool you. The views are great, service is prime, and the food is superb! I would definitely recommend this to a friend. "

  • " My dinner Saturday night was as good as I have eaten in any restaurant in New York, San Francisco or Chicago! They had just introduced a new tasting menu and were offering the individual courses, if you did not want all five. I had a Mediterranean Halibut that was served with tomato vinaigrette, olives and haricot verts. The fish was cooked to perfect, and eating it with the olives...divine!!! For desert I had an apple tart with homemade vanilla icecream and and a clear caramel sauce! Perfection! After dinner I was able to walk only a few steps to my wonderful room at Inn at the Mill, another jewel in Northwest Arkansas!"

The sides whether mashed potatoes or an exotic combination of brussel sprouts and squash are both comforting and delightful. Our server was efficient and friendly. The Lemon-Drop martini was a bit weak, but overall I would give this experience an A."

  • "...when a menu has nine entrees and you are out of the rib-eye on a Friday night at 8:15? I'm guessing Saturday's diners were disappointed, too. I can understand being out of the gnocchi portion of another entrée but ask the diner to select a substitute side item and then have the entire entrée switched? Wrong. Then attempt to charge for the original, higher-priced entrée instead of the lower-priced replacement entrée that the diner kept? Extra wrong. I can't remember the last time I did not buy wine in a restaurant but price your list at a 650% markup and I'll have liquor every time. On the positive side, the entrees we eventually had were quite good and the young wait staff were very charming, efficient & accommodating."
