  • "Everything was wonderful. The service was attentive, stylish decor, food was great. The desserts were the real star of the meal."

  • "Small menu, pricey. grounds attractive but inside ordinary, staff person dusting pictures during the dinner hour, not appropriate."

  • "The menu is varied and reasonable with many appetizers and a broad array of entrees. The creme brulee is wonderful. Some reasonably priced wines. Draft beer."

  • "My husband and I went here for our anniversary. Honestly, we've never been able to go somewhere as nice for several reasons. Our first experience for having such a nice date night was excellence. The service was great, the food was fresh and the steaks melted in out mouths. We had a great experience and will definitely keep this place in mind."

  • "The food and atmosphere was notably Parisian. The food was very flavorful and served hot. Service unbelievable! I would give this restaurant a 10++++!"

  • "This is off the beaten path and worth finding. I've been here many time of the years and it is consistently good. The setting is unique; it's a working mill. The food is a good value. You won't be disappointed; I never am."

  • "The finest service, ambience and locally sourced restaurant in NW Arkansas."

  • "This was our first visit to the James, we were a party of five celebrating a birthday. Loved the decor, very trendy! The food and service were incredible. I had the tasting menu with the wine pairing which I highly recommend. The rest of the party ordered a variety of things from seafood, pasta and beef. Everything was cooked to perfection. We loved all the items in the bread basket, especially the biscuits. The desserts did not disappoint. The coffee drinkers in our group also commented on how good the their coffee was. Also, do not miss ordering a drink from their cocktail menu, they have a great bartender. We will definitely be coming back to eat at James at the Mill. "

  • "...you will not be let down. It was paired with a wine for each dish. Just a great place to 1) eat great food prepared exquisitely and 2) focus on the friend that you have brought with you. Love James at the Mill. "

  • "A repeat trip; the busiest of several. VERY energetic, too much so for the price at this visit. Food, typically good, inventive, fine combinations and excellent presentations. Had the Tasting Menu; great variety. Asparagus Risotto outstanding. Agnolotto good but odd in deep bowl, difficult to handle. Better in shallow bowl. Halibut GREAT! Quail good but also odd for this format. Had to use hands, no way around it. Berry Cobbler good but not very "special". Service attentive; efficient and hurried if not warm. However, it was busy. Seem to always be able to count on quality though for a special evening/meal. Hopefully, popularity will not precede a decline in what makes James at the Mill so special. Will return to be sure. "

  • "I was disappointed with the pork tenderloin. It was flavorless and not at all tender. Thankfully the Brussels sprouts and potato-goat cheese croquette were delightful. A companion said his salmon was perfectly cooked but a bit bland. Another companion described her chicken as so-so. That said, the crab cake appetizer and chocolate cake dessert were delightful. "

  • "Travel to the area on business 2x a year, and dine here most every time. Took customers here, they are also repeat visitors, and again had a great meal. Love to sit at bar and watch the kitchen."

  • "I went to James at the Mill for Mother's Day Brunch with three families, who are sometimes hard to please. James at the Mill blew us all away with their service. We sat in a private dining room overlooking the mill and had amazing service. My father even joked with our waitress to place a piece of bacon on everyone's plate and she provided even that odd request. The highlight of the service was Chef James coming to greet us. Overall a great location, great food and even more amazing service. "

  • "Food was good and could almost be called great. However, the service was painstakingly slow. Got one of our orders wrong and it was going to be 20 minutes to correct - so after waiting too long already, one of us had to eat something that wasn't ordered, just so the evening would end. Additionally, there was only a fixed price menu available. Don't know if that is normal as we were there on graduation weekend. While the food was good - it was not worth the fixed price menu. "

  • "James at the Mill is one of those restaurants you always want to visit. The beef is ample and cooked to perfection. Caesar salad is beautifully presented with a flavor to match. The sides whether mashed potatoes or an exotic combination of brussel sprouts and squash are both comforting and delightful. Our server was efficient and friendly. The Lemon-Drop martini was a bit weak, but overall I would give this experience an A."

  • "We visited the restaurant both nights of our state at the Inn at the Mill, once for drinks and once for dinner. Service was exceptional, friendly and professional without being officious. We enjoyed the food and give it high marks for presentation, but felt like the chef could focus more on a central taste sensation. I ordered halibut, and it came with a pesto sauce on top, sun dried tomatoes on the side, dollops of tomato sauce on the corners of the plate, green beans strewn around the base of the halibut, and a couple of other flavors on the plate. Seven different distinct flavors or a total of 49 possible flavor combinations. It was too much! The wine list is extensive. A vegetarian option would balance out the menu."

  • "James at the Mill is one of the best restaurants in NWA. My wife and I went out to celebrate me finishing my MA degree, and I decided to try James at the Mill. I could not have been more pleased with our selection. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and a great view. The wait staff was knowledgeable and very courteous. Our meal was without a doubt the best meal I have had at any restaurant here since moving to NWA two years ago. There tasting menu is available as a whole, or individual specials, and I highly recommend it! This is a great restaurant to spend a special evening or just enjoy a great meal! "

  • "Let me first say that the food is PHENOMENAL. My date and I shared their take on the corn dog for an appetizer, and I highly recommend it. Our entrees were both delicious as well. The service was prompt and attentive, but not too much. The only thing that needs to be changed is the decor. It felt almost as if I stepped into a 1990's Disney resort. It's a great restaurant though. Don't let the decor fool you. The views are great, service is prime, and the food is superb! I would definitely recommend this to a friend. "

  • " My dinner Saturday night was as good as I have eaten in any restaurant in New York, San Francisco or Chicago! They had just introduced a new tasting menu and were offering the individual courses, if you did not want all five. I had a Mediterranean Halibut that was served with tomato vinaigrette, olives and haricot verts. The fish was cooked to perfect, and eating it with the olives...divine!!! For desert I had an apple tart with homemade vanilla icecream and and a clear caramel sauce! Perfection! After dinner I was able to walk only a few steps to my wonderful room at Inn at the Mill, another jewel in Northwest Arkansas!"

  • "My wife and I ate there for our one year wedding anniversary and we loved it! It was romantic, the food was fantastic, service was great, and did I mention romantic? 2 sides of the dining area are floor to probably 30 foot ceilings of windows. You'll be glad you went!!"

  • "...when a menu has nine entrees and you are out of the rib-eye on a Friday night at 8:15? I'm guessing Saturday's diners were disappointed, too. I can understand being out of the gnocchi portion of another entrée but ask the diner to select a substitute side item and then have the entire entrée switched? Wrong. Then attempt to charge for the original, higher-priced entrée instead of the lower-priced replacement entrée that the diner kept? Extra wrong. I can't remember the last time I did not buy wine in a restaurant but price your list at a 650% markup and I'll have liquor every time. On the positive side, the entrees we eventually had were quite good and the young wait staff were very charming, efficient & accommodating."

  • "Breadsticks were amazing; although we made a reservation for one of the earliest seatings (5:30 p.m.) and the restaurant was not crowded, we were seated downstairs at one of the least desirable tables with no view."

  • "Food, atmosphere & wine were excellent. Wait-staff not as knowledgeable or "professional" a we previously had experienced."

  • "The atmosphere was relaxing and romantic. The food wasn't as good as we thought it would be. We are comparing the food to Ramsay's Steak in Las Vegas which had the same prices. The wine list was large. The restaurant had a amazing drink called The Accomplice. The best mixed drink we have ever had from anywhere. The deserts were excellent, specially the creme brulee."

  • "Wonderful, serene surroundings. The wait staff was impeccable. The Date Night Menu was wonderful The accompanying paired wine flight was very well chosen. Will absolutely return when back in the northwest Arkansas area."

  • "Have heard mixed reviews, but wanted to check myself. The server had no personality and the hostess was not warm or inviting. The food was decent. I had the tasting menu and best thing was the mushroom risotto, otherwise nothing stood out. One thing interesting to note was the phallic symbolism with the dishes...a little strange. The resurant decor reminded me of 90's decoration, I think the space would be very cool if it was remodeled. We went there to celebrate two birthdays, but recieved no special attention- although another table was brought a small dessert with a candle..... All in all, nothing special I don't see a reason to go back."

  • "We so enjoyed this restaurant settled by the Old Mill Inn. Each dish was artfully prepared and was quite tasty. The pork tenderloin was a tad dry but the sauce they served with it was delicious as was the potatoes gallette and brussel sports. The scallops were delicious as well. They had an interesting take on a corn dog for an appetizer as well as a nice crab cake. We we make the trip to Fayetteville at least twice yearly, we will return!"

  • "Have been here a number of times and the food is always consistently good. The dishes vary some and remain good whatever is served. Ambiance is great. Wonderful place for date night. Service always good and attentive but not obtrusive."

  • "Our waiter, Nick, couldn't have been better. He is a real asset to the restaurant. Food was very good and the wine list appropriate."

  • "I ordered Short Ribs and Filet which was a special not on the regular menu. Both the ribs and filet were pretty tastless with a lack of any seasoning. I could only eat about 1/3rd of the meal and was very disappointed. However, the appetizers, and the shrimp my wife ordered off the menu were all very good along with desserts."

  • "I had crab cake, salmon, and banana cake. My wife had goat cheese salad, pork tenderloin and chocolate nemesis. My wife said it was probably the best meal of her life. It easily fits into my top 5 all time. Perfect choice, worth the $!"

  • "We made reservations for Valentine's Day and were seated quickly in what appeared to be an overflow section down a long flight of stairs. The fixed price menu was reasonably priced. We were surprised that a gratuity was automatically added to a party of two.. We had a nice bottle of white wine at a discounted price although it had lost its chill by the end of the evening. All in all, it was a nice evening and some of the problems we are encountered are probably unique to the Valentine's Day rush."
