  • "...when a menu has nine entrees and you are out of the rib-eye on a Friday night at 8:15? I'm guessing Saturday's diners were disappointed, too. I can understand being out of the gnocchi portion of another entrée but ask the diner to select a substitute side item and then have the entire entrée switched? Wrong. Then attempt to charge for the original, higher-priced entrée instead of the lower-priced replacement entrée that the diner kept? Extra wrong. I can't remember the last time I did not buy wine in a restaurant but price your list at a 650% markup and I'll have liquor every time. On the positive side, the entrees we eventually had were quite good and the young wait staff were very charming, efficient & accommodating."

  • "The atmosphere was relaxing and romantic. The food wasn't as good as we thought it would be. We are comparing the food to Ramsay's Steak in Las Vegas which had the same prices. The wine list was large. The restaurant had a amazing drink called The Accomplice. The best mixed drink we have ever had from anywhere. The deserts were excellent, specially the creme brulee."

  • "Have heard mixed reviews, but wanted to check myself. The server had no personality and the hostess was not warm or inviting. The food was decent. I had the tasting menu and best thing was the mushroom risotto, otherwise nothing stood out. One thing interesting to note was the phallic symbolism with the dishes...a little strange. The resurant decor reminded me of 90's decoration, I think the space would be very cool if it was remodeled. We went there to celebrate two birthdays, but recieved no special attention- although another table was brought a small dessert with a candle..... All in all, nothing special I don't see a reason to go back."

  • "We so enjoyed this restaurant settled by the Old Mill Inn. Each dish was artfully prepared and was quite tasty. The pork tenderloin was a tad dry but the sauce they served with it was delicious as was the potatoes gallette and brussel sports. The scallops were delicious as well. They had an interesting take on a corn dog for an appetizer as well as a nice crab cake. We we make the trip to Fayetteville at least twice yearly, we will return!"

  • "I ordered Short Ribs and Filet which was a special not on the regular menu. Both the ribs and filet were pretty tastless with a lack of any seasoning. I could only eat about 1/3rd of the meal and was very disappointed. However, the appetizers, and the shrimp my wife ordered off the menu were all very good along with desserts."

  • "I had crab cake, salmon, and banana cake. My wife had goat cheese salad, pork tenderloin and chocolate nemesis. My wife said it was probably the best meal of her life. It easily fits into my top 5 all time. Perfect choice, worth the $!"

  • "We made reservations for Valentine's Day and were seated quickly in what appeared to be an overflow section down a long flight of stairs. The fixed price menu was reasonably priced. We were surprised that a gratuity was automatically added to a party of two.. We had a nice bottle of white wine at a discounted price although it had lost its chill by the end of the evening. All in all, it was a nice evening and some of the problems we are encountered are probably unique to the Valentine's Day rush."

  • "Excellent food and service. However, we were a little disappointed. We were celebrating a special occasion and a birthday. We called ahead and asked if they could do something special for the birthday and we were told that we could bring our own cake. Generally a restaurant will do something for such an occasion."

  • "This was my 4th time to James at the Mill in the last 6 months and without doubt my worst. We were put in the backroom downstairs. Looked like tables were just put up to take care of over booked reservations for V Day for which mine was made over a month in advance. Waiter with our bread was looking for our table not sure it was us he was suppose to bring it too. First course of the tasting menu he rushed to the table and my shrimp almost fell off the plate. The watiress who seemed to be overseeing the backroom saw this and I think told him to slow down. Service improved after that. Bottom line, if you dont have the space to handle the customers for a special day like Valentines day then back off the amount of reservations you make!!!!"

  • "My boyfriend & I went to James at the Mill Restaurant for Valentines Day and it completely ruined the start of our night. Appetizer: Blue lump crab cake. I could not really taste the crab just breading and seasoning. The crab cake was also sitting in a huge cold dollop of chipotle aioli. The frisse was not good. Entree: dry onion-crusted chicken breast. The chicken was so bland. The dry-onion "crust" was pale and soft. The chicken natural sauce was watery. Dessert: Lemon tart. The only good part of the meal. The meal was a pre fixed $55 per person meal which would I would have happily payed on V-Day but I was not happy with my meal. I was so unhappy with the food, service, and price that I am not sure if I would ever bother going back."

  • "The food presentation was excellent. Pacing was excellent i.e. wait time between courses etc was fine. The service was excellent and not smothering but attentive. The food was very good for both of us yet didnt knock our socks off. Typical two party seating left one (typically the male) with back to the view and a teapot collection as the screen between the bar. Also 'that same seat' became pretty hard during an un rushed meal. It was a very good meal, it just wasn't great."

  • "We frequent this resteraunt for the experience, food, and excellent service. On this visit we were sitted for about 15min without drinks (not even water), this prompted a walk upstairs to request service. Our server was then very testy with us, even arguing with my wife over menu options. We asked the server to leave and called for the general manager, he was incredible! He listened to our complaint and then personally served us an excellent meal, this rescued our evening and made our experience pleasant."

  • "This was our fifth or sixth time at "James." Lovely setting, gradually getting more and more urban. Excellect food, good wine list. 1/2 price wine by glass (selected list) until 6:30 PM. The Inn at the Mill is a great combo lodge/dining. Good prices and great lodging. We had steak, and it was correctly cooked and well seasoned. Dessert is also very good."

  • "Heard about this restaurant for many years. Anxious to be impressed. Service was at best OK. Our waiter had way too many tables. Long gaps. Then, when food came several folks brought our food. Chef came by and checked on us. He was very nice. Maybe we just ordered poorly, but left thinking this is the most expensive average meal I'd ever had. It did have a good wine list. Go try The Hive at 21c in Bentonville."

  • "The food and presentation of the meal was fantastic as always but our server must have thought we were cellophane as we had a very hard time getting her attention. When asked about recomendations, she wasn't really enthusiastic about the choices. Biggest compliment was to let us know the pork was a top seller. Our bus boy was much nicer, and while very shy, did at least acknowlege us. In all the years we have dined at this establishment, this is the first bad service event we have encountered. If the restaurant had been packed, we would have been more understanding but it wasn't that busy."

  • "This restaurant is located on an old mill so it is a fun, quaint place to check out. The decor in the restaurant is definitely worth stopping by to see. The menu was unique and mouth-watering and the food turned out pretty good. Unfortunately, we had oddly poor service. Our waiter was fine - no problems there. But it took more than 5 minutes for the hostess to greet us after arriving. When the hostess and the manager showed up at the hostess stand, they conversed among themselves and did not even look at us, standing right in front of them, before disappearing again. More waiting ensued. I was extremely puzzled that we could be shown such apathy at a restaurant that otherwise, seems to be a winner."
