Jaleo DCJaleo.. is consistently good..Jaleo.. is consistently good.. the food is fantastic I love the chicken croquettes best of all!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's always a risk to bringIt's always a risk to bring Spaniards to a tapas restaurant, however our friends from Bilbao LOVED it. They felt that the ingredients were absolutely correct, served appropriately and very, very yummy. We were pleased that we hadn't set them up for a disappointing night....5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ambience, good foodAmbience and service were great. Food is very good, although not necessarily fantastic.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my cousin who was visitingI took my cousin who was visiting DC from Boston to Jaleo DC! We had a wonderful dinner - eating, drinking, and catching up. The atmosphere was energetic and fun, but still allowed us to have a great conversation. I would definitely recommend Jaleo to my friends.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food, great experience!I went to Jaleo with a friend for the first time and we had a great experience! The space is beautiful, modern and has a clean feel to it and it matches very well with the concept of the restaurant. The food is classic Spanish tapas with a modern twist. Menu options are incredibly varied and they cater to many palettes. This is a great restaurant to take a diverse crowd to, because there is an option for everyone (from meat lovers to vegetarians).
As a vegetarian, I love going to places where both me and my meat-eater friends can eat and all be satisfied. What I love about all of Jose Andres' restaurants is that they have tasty and satisfying options for vegetarians, and Jaleo is no exception.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent tapas. Try to neverExcellent tapas. Try to never miss when visiting DC. Bit on the noisy side, but service is as good as food. We found quality to be sustained through the years.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticFinest True Spanish food with a modern twist anywhere outside of Spain !! Incredible Tastes5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, knowledgeable waiterOur waiter had great recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the menu, particularly with respect to gluten-free menu items. Food was delicious and my friend loved her cocktail.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's hard to believe thatIt's hard to believe that Jaleo has been around for such a long time, but has not lost its appeal-- we had a wonderful pre -theatre dinner, fine service, great decor (surrounding noise seems to have abated with the new design or maybe it was just where we were sitting), in and at the theatre in 1 1/2 hours--couldn't ask for anything more!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA trip to DC would not beA trip to DC would not be complete for us without dining at Jaleo - our favorite tapas place outside Spain! Creamy croquettes, excellent Iberian ham, nice selection of cheeses, spicy shrimp, cod fish, olives, etc. All our favorite foods in small portions so we can enjoy many! It has a large selection of tapas - many restaurants say they have tapas, but only 10 -12 selections. Jaleo has a wide selection so you can enjoy old favorites and try some new ones.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Spot forr Special OccasJaleo was such a pleasant surprise. I mean, not truly a surprise since it already had excellent reviews, but I was impressed! The entire service staff is arguably the best part of this restaurant, from the manager to the hostess. Great people and really made my dining experience remarkable after we mentioned we were there for a special occassion. They gave us a slightly quieter table and a free tapa to celebrate. The cocktails are amazing, highly recommend the rum and coke, sounds simple, but they add a lot of touches. The bacon wrapped dates and selection of cheeses were by far my favorite tapas. I would go again!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as UsualFrom the fun gin and tonics to the helpful and attentive service, Jaleo is still a great choice. The Bunuelos de Bacalao were light and crispy. The Canelones in Beschemel was luscious and surprisingly light. The best in my mind was the Rossejat. It was so good that the couple at the next table had to order some.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTry the Jaleo Experience tastingTry the Jaleo Experience tasting menu for a great sampling of dishes. Be warned, it is a lot of food! I lost count around 12 plates (though they are smaller portions than ordering separately off the menu.)5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA favoriteI've been coming here during DC visits for 5 or 6 years. It's always been a treat. Great food, good service. Even the very simple things ar done well.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot!Really enjoyed the tapas, the sauces and the sangria. Having lived in the Canary Islands, I can tell you from experience their Canary-style mojos are authentic and delicious.
Also, the cocktails looked great. Our waiter gave us great advice on what to order, although with a little more research learned he fibbed us a little on the origins of the gastronomic, Ferran Adriá "Liquid Olives" on the menu.
All and all, a really wonderful night and dining experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good foodWe had a great experience. The tapas are great. Its alittle bit expensive but good quality of food.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMJaleo Screams Service with a SmileWe were entertaining clients from out of town with dietary restrictions and the staff at Jaleo was more than accommodating to our special needs. The food/wine suggestions were excellent and our dish selections were brought out in typical tapas fashion - slowly. Loved the ambience! A definite return!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time we have been toFirst time we have been to Jaleo. It was fabulous
I wish we had one in San Francisco.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal!I can't say enough things about Jaleo. The service was beyond expectations and in the words of my husband the whole experience was a "celebration of food". Every item we ordered was interesting and delicious in it's own way. We did not feel rushed at all in ordering and although the seating was packed in, it still felt very intimate. I can't wait to visit DC again and dine at Jaleo!
You MUST try the Aceitunas Ferrán Adrià (liquid olives) and Pimientos Del Piquillo Don Julian De Tolosa Con Grasa De Jamón Ibérico (sweet red pepper confit with ibérico ham fat). Life changing!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe live in Manassas and weWe live in Manassas and we go all the way to DC to eat at this restaurant. Food was amazing and was my first trying tapas. It's worth a visit!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMservice was quick, which wasservice was quick, which was good because we were heading to a sporting event. only thing that is a bit of a pain is they dont' seat you until your entire party has arrived.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMJust yum! Small plates areJust yum! Small plates are not so small so go humgry4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, the food was outstanding. As usual, the food was outstanding. As usual, service was slightly scattershot because we never were sure which of the wait staff was assigned to our table. Additionally, we had to ask for bread 3x before any was delivered to the table, and were pressured to purchase special breads rather and made to feel a little cheap when all we wanted was the default table bread. However, our large order (13 dishes) was provided accurately and pleasantly.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMHadn't been since the renovationHadn't been since the renovation - flow seems better although hard to gauge more than that. Food was very good to excellent. Husband enjoyed a Cuba Libra - presentation and having drink poured table-side was nice along with extra touches. Neighboring table admired it as well. So glad the salad with apple, fennel, etc. is still on the menu - delicious! Enjoyed the dining experience very much!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHandled our group of 18 flawlessly.Handled our group of 18 flawlessly. Excellent for groups sharing varied dishes. Kids can sit at the glass foosball table and enjoy the chicken fritters served in a glass tennis shoe.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Tapas in the country!Fantastic Tapas (small plates)! The food is local and unbelievably flavorful and fresh. The pork is specially imported from acorn fed pasture raised heritage pigs. We went as a party of 2 and had about 5 selections, then as a party of 5. This allowed us to taste 10 different dishes! I highly recommend the acorn fed pork hamburger! I cannot say enough good things about Jaleo. Not only was the food amazing, but taking into consideration the quality of the food, it was affordable as well. Also, they make a superb Cuba Libre!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was first rate;Everything was first rate; excellent food and good service. Excellent.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food and great service.Delicious food and great service. Wonderful wines. The one issue was the short rib paella-- it tasted delicious, but was basically only rice--there was no meat on the short ribs-only fat. It was basically like a plain but very tasty risotto.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSo worth the visit. AmazingSo worth the visit. Amazing Tapas and the Cava Sangria was great. Obviously by the booked room, everyone knows this hot spot4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Jaleo ExperienceWe got the Jaleo Experience Chef Tasting and were blown away. My wife and I are no strangers to tastings but this was wonderful. The food was not exotic in the sense of types of food but the flavors certainly were. Everything was beautifully crafted to create a symphony of flavors that built right into dessert. It was worth every penny and a capstone to a great trip in D.C. Definitely worth checking out!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were exceptional.Food and service were exceptional. The food never disappoints. Service is very friendly and servers know the food. I highly recommend Jaleo and it will always be in my list for DC.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic as Always!Never fails to impress! I always bring my clients to Jaleo in DC and they always help me win more business!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMHave wine list ready if requestedThe food was great, but there was a long gap in the service when we asked to see a wine list. We had to ask twice, in fact, leading to us receiving a bottle of wine pretty late in the meal. I sense this happened because the wine list is on an iPad, and that there might not been enough iPads to go around when we first requested one.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Experience, As in the PastI went to Jaleo recently with a close friend (who is also a foodie and loves great service) while we were in town for a conference. We had been there in the past and loved it, but hadn't been since the renovations last year. We loved the renovations and had the most excellent server, Amanda. The service was excellent, too, with holding our reservations when our plane was delayed coming to DC. The food was amazing,as always. I love, love, love Jaleo. Thank you, José Andrés!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything. It wasLoved everything.
