  • " good variety and price during restaurant week. we enjoy the tapa selections."

  • "I went with a party of four. We ordered a variety of things and shared between the table. Everything was good. We ordered various jamons, all of which were excellent. The croquetas were great - as good as any I have had in Spain. Anyway, I could go on. Just a wonderful experience for everyone"

  • "Jaleo is probably the best restaurant deal I've come across in DC. This time, the food was only very good instead of excellent though. I'd still go back."
    Dined on 8/16/2014
  • "The food and service were great. We had an early reservation but took our time and were expertly guided through the menu by our server. I love eating Tapas and every plate was delicious. I also love how plates come out when they are ready, ensuring hot, and fresh food! We will be back!"

  • "Food was good/fun; service was sporadic. Wine was forgotten until reminded. Excuses with respect to kitchen given when asked about different dishes that were missing. Ended up with a plate that was not ordered at one point late in the meal."

  • "I've loved this restaurant for years. Never disappoints!"

  • "I've been to Jaleo in numerous ocassions, this time it had a lot to be desired. It was the first time for the rest of my party, and they will never go back. Food was not fresh, service was awful, and waiter and service staff were not too friendly."

  • "Our meal at Jaleo was fantastic. The staff and the service were great and the food was definitely an experience. Well worth the stop for anyone interested in upscale Spanish tapas."

  • "Our greeting by the hostess was immediate. The waiter was unimpressive - felt like his job was an inconvenience of his day. We received spoons for dessert and had to advise him we hadn't yet received our first course. He seemed friendly only as we neared 'tipping' time..."

  • "Had a delicious dinner at Jaleo and a wonderful overall dining experience. All the tapas were amazing - I would recommend trying pretty much everything on the menu! Our waiter was fantastic and provided us with excellent service. The London Dry cocktail was the best drink I've ever had and I'll definitely be back for more of those. Would absolutely come back to Jaleo - it's evident why this is one of the top restaurants in DC year after year!"

  • "We had an early reservation on the Thursday of restaurant week. The RW menu was limited but adequate, and the food was excellent as always. The waitress did an excellent and attentive job, so I rated the service very good. Unfortunately, the frequent visits by the busboys became annoying, to the point when one person tried to take my plate before I was finished! That experience, which made us feel like we were being rushed, plus the high level of noise caused me to lower the ambience to just fair. Our experience during prior visits was much, much better."

  • "We had great food - eight different tapas. Everything was awesome! The restaurant was crowded but it added to the ambiance. Service was excellent as were the drinks."

  • "Had a table for two outside - Fantastic service, even better food. Highly recommend the red wine sangria. Went during Restaurant Week (unbeknownst to us), and took part in the RWk special. Very reasonable price and great dish choices."

  • "Jaleo had plenty of room for us to sample their excellent restaurant week lunch menu, and the service was very solid. Glad I had the excuse to go!"
    Dined on 8/13/2014
  • "Our group of 6 was the first reservation to be seated. We ordered from the restaurant week menu so you'd think the kitchen would be organized-NOT. We watched the wait staff chat and generally fool around while we waited for our orders to be taken. When the food came out of the kitchen, it was haphazard - I realize this tapas but one dish for six people and 5 minutes before the second and third dishes came- in a mostly empty restaurant is inexcusable."

  • "Enjoyed our Restaurant Week dinner tremendously. The food was delicious and the staff were very attentive."

  • "Loved Jaleo in DC! I've been to the Bethesda location several times and wanted to see what the fuss was about the DC location so I came with my boyfriend for restaurant week. We had such a great lunch! The food was all amazing (some differences between the Bethesda menu and this one, can't say which I prefer!) and the glass of red I got went perfectly. It was raining outside so it was possibly more quiet than usual, but I really enjoyed the decorations and colors of the dining area. Would definitely recommend!"

  • "took a coworker out for lunch and enjoyed the offerings and meal"

  • "Jaleo delighted the paletes of each member of our party. We had the restaurant week prix fixe and sampled most of what was offered at our table. Each dish was a treat. The one negative comment is about all tapas restaurant - food is brought to the table when ready. So, we felt rushed and there were times when one member of the family was eating while the others were not."

  • "Despite having a reservation, we waited almost an hour for our table. We were finally seated after complaining multiple times. The hostess was rude and dismissive. Our negative experience was compounded by the poor food. We could have had a much better meal for much less money at another restaurant. With so many wonderful restaurants in DC, don't waste your money here! Very disappointing!"

  • "I liked very much the menu, it has a lots of choices. Every single plate delicious, the kids enjoyed very much "las croquetas". Excelent dessert as well!"

  • "Jaleo never disappoints! Food is consistently good and the specials are always impressive. Great and very helpful service."

  • "Second time in this restaurant and my expectations were covered. First time was 4 years ago. the quality of the food and creativity was beyond our expectations. The Gin and Tonic dessert was an absolute hit!"
    Dined on 8/7/2014
  • "The food was very good. Some reviews give the impression that it's very expensive, but I didn't find the prices to be too bad. The tapas are $10-$15 each, which I don't think is out of line for a higher end restaurant. I found that two dishes per person was plenty. I liked everything we ordered. Service was very friendly. My only criticism was that the place was a bit noisy and all the tables are really close together, so you practically fall over the table next to you on your way in and out of your seat. Other than that though, I would recommend going there."

  • "Jaleo has a large menu that can be confusing. The special lunch menu has plenty of delicious choices and provides a filling lunch for a reasonable price. My lunch companion and I shared various items which doubled the fun. Good choice."

  • "We met old friends at Union Station and took them to Jaleo's for lunch. They loved it. We were grateful that we could stay at our table and extend our visit without pressure to leave."

  • "We had been looking forward to a dinner at Jaleo for years and were not disappointed during our trip to D.C. in August 2014. Terrific food, well explained. The fried codfish balls were unlike anything I've eaten anywhere else - like a cross between a great donut and caviar. We would never have tried the roasted peppers without our waiter's help, and they were delectable. The almond puree soup was also unexpected and outstanding."

  • "menu needs some invogoriation, service was attentive but difficult to understand with a strong accent and very very quiet voice. Table was nice, quiet and comfortable. Food was good but nothing stood out as fantastic. Cauliflower was our least favorite."

  • "Our waitress was great. It was early in the evening so noise levels were totally not an issue."

  • "Tasty, but expensive. Wide spread of interesting dishes, just wish it had been at a slightly better value. Sea urchin was a highlight and the quail was delicious."

  • "Went to Jaleo on our trip to DC and we were all so happy with this choice! Lots of different tastes in food in our group and there was lots of things for everyone. Each tapa was truly delicious and the seasonings were perfectly blended."

  • "Amazing food and service... Everything we had was amaZing. Fidegua, ham croquettes delish. This place is awesome. Love the decor and ambiance."

  • "I thought the food was excellent as well as the service but I was misled by the two $$. In reality it should have 4 $$$$. We spent over 50 dollars per person without alcohol and we left hungry!"

  • "Jaleo has sensational food, but it is not pretentious, formal or too stuffy. It is casual, fun, delicious. Its a good place for a business meal, family events, or a fun night out."
    Dined on 7/30/2014
  • "Overall, the dining experience was good. We had a party of 3 and ordered 6 dishes. The gazpacho was delicious; the mushrooms were awesome; the sauteed onion/red pepper mix was OK; the chicken crochettes had no chicken (they got the order wrong); bacon wrapped dates were good; the pork sausage was good. BUT THE SANGRIA WAS AWFUL!!! It was weak and tasted like watered down kool-aid."

  • "I have been a regular at Jaleo (DC) for years; it is truly one of the city's gems. The food is invariably excellent; the tapas are varied and exotic enough (with good seasonal rotation) to make this an excellent venue for entertaining out-of-town guests - there is something on the menu to accommodate almost any taste / preference. On my most recent occasion to dine there (on a not-too-busy Monday), however, the service was definitely not up to the restaurant's usual standards. The waitress was generally inattentive, and we had long periods between being seated, ordering drinks, and our meal. Similar situation with the table staff - long waits for table to be cleared btw courses, etc. Maybe the "B" staff works Mondays?"

  • "My wife and I tried 10 choices from the menu and we each enjoyed a glass of spanish wine. This place is not budget friendly but will give you a great experience of the Spanish (from Spain) food culture. Portions are very small and exploit the name "tapas" but each item is very true to its Spanish replication. I wish I were in Spain again, but this will suffice for now."

  • "The food was delicious! Everything tasted great, especially the toasted bread topped with tomato. The service was great also. It was a well-run, gourmet, Spanish restaurant."

  • "Always excellent. God I love the spinach. Hopping even after 10 pm. Good place for dinner prior to a nightime monuments tour."
