  • Public Transit: We are located 1 block south of the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro station on the yellow, green and red lines. Take the 7th and Arena exit, walk one block south. The restaurant is located on the right hand corner of 7th and E St.

    We are also 1 block North of Arhives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station on the green and yellow lines.

  • "This place is great with the exception of the loud music. we moved to a table by the north windows and that helped. But the previous weekend, my husband and I had to ask the manager 3 times to turn it down. We come at 11:30 for brunch expecting it to be quieter but the young manager just doesn't understand how older people have hearing issues and the experience is less than pleasant when this is the issue. We may leave right away in future visits if we can't get a table away from the speakers above the registers on the north window sides (banquet seating). You are our favorite brunch place but we need more robust action when we request the music be turned down."

  • "Jaleo is an amazing tapas place. 6 of us went on July 4th and were seated at one of the front foosball tables. My husband and his buddy loved that they could be 12 again during dinner. We ordered a good variety of tapas. While the plates are small, there was plenty for everyone to pass around and share. We were stuffed but the pistachio gelato is a must."

  • "I am a big fan of all Jose Andres offers so I may be a bit biased. However, I can be balanced. Jaleo is just a prime example of why I love him. Great atmosphere and service but the food is what shines-- basic Spanish tapas done up just a tad to make them different than any other Spanish tapas place and perfectly executed every time. Jaleo's sidewalk seating is the epitome of the tapas experience...laid back to give the diner the opportunity to get a broad taste of the menu while really enjoying each dish as a new experience. If you are in a rush, however, don't come here. The service is fantastic and timely, but you will miss the whole point of dining here."

  • "Usually, Jaleo is tops. Unfortunately, they fell short on delivery of food and service this time around. The food was too greasy...not just 1 dish but 2. Vegetables were overcooked, salted and way too much oil-not the quality expected and usually have. The service was slow and they were not overly crowded as it was before Dinner rush and after lunch rush."

  • "Because I made my reservation on OpenTable, I was NOT allowed to sit with my guest at a window table despite there being 3-4 available and unused for the duration of my hour long lunch. The hostess informed me that we had not made that request at the time of the reservation. Didn't know I had to or that "option" was available. Surprised it isn't an obvious courtesy/ policy to offer that either by the restaurant or via OpenTable. Concerned now this is policy at all restaurants that I book with OpenTable and makes me less inclined to use OpenTable. I didn't much of it at the time, but I was not seated at a window table at my last lunch reserved on OpenTable. We'll see about my next one... today."

  • "This is a big scale crowed party restaurant which spills onto the side walk. While it's a good vibe and people watching spot the food it top notch. Four of us ordered at least 14 dishes and all were excellent. The bread with tomato paste was great - we got 2 portions. Salads also excellent and quite big for tapas It's a great place to go to try 3/4 various dishes and gave fun. Great gin & tonics to start and the wine list is obviously mostly Spanish and comes on an iPad that allows you to drill down into great detail. Great service by our young waiter We also eat at Cafe Milano in Georgetown on our visit but Jaleo easily won out for the food and atmosphere."

There were a couple of dishes that were really good, the Mini-Hamburgers were exceptional, but everything else was okay and very salty."

It was the perfect amount of food with lots of variety.....although I could probably eat six or eight of those pork sliders with the awesome patatas bravas! It's fun to have lots of little things to share but then have something hearty like paella. We are going to branch out and try more of Jose's restaurants!"

  • "Crazy busy at Jaleo, but we did manage to convince them that we didn't want to sit in the row of tables where you are so close to your "neighbors" that it is difficult to have a conversation... Food terrific as always. Especially notable on this visit was the heirloom tomato salad with slivers of Kalamata olives and blue cheese. Seasonal, refreshing and something you would like to eat every day. The tomatoes were truly perfect!"

  • "We got to Jaleo about two hours before our reservation on a Sunday. The staff was accommodating, the sangria which they are known for kept coming and the food was delicious. The World Cup was on and the place was hopping."

  • "We have not been to Jaleo in probably over a year but decided to go back before a play. We wondered why it took us so long to get back there. The food is still as fresh and delicious as ever. We had the tomato bread which I immmediately tried to replicate the next night at home. We shared several other dishes including a cod special in honor of the World Cup, a selection of cured hams (delicious), mushroom salad, tuna tartare, and salted potatoes with dipping sauces. We finished with the chocolate ice cream. We want to go back to try the tasting menu soon. Of course, the above is all the my version of the english translation. The wait staff is well trained in discussing all the dishes which is very helpful. Definitely go to Jaleo."
