Getting there

  • Cross Street: 23rd Street
  • Public Transit: We are a 5 minute walk from the Crystal City Metro Station, located on the Yellow and Blue Lines. To reach us, exit the Metro, go left on 18th Street, right on Crystal Drive, and walk 5 blocks to 23rd Street, finding us on the right. Or come halfway up the escalator, left into the Shops, and proceed to 23rd Street, turning left to Crystal Drive.
  • Parking: Public Lot
  • Parking Details: There are two garages, one around the corner on 23rd, and one immediately north on Crystal Drive. Parking is complimentary after 4 pm weekdays and all weekend. We offer one hour validation for our daytime guests at the garage on Crystal Drive.

  • "We met friends there for brunch and had a great time. The food is delicious and the service was good. Try the Iberian ham, it is incredible. The restaurant has a great feel and atmosphere and I would go back any time. This is the second time I have been here and it did not disappoint. If I had to put one watch out it was that drinks service was slower, we had to ask for one drink 3 times from 3 different people. Other than that everything else was brilliant."

  • "We enjoyed this restaurant very much. Have been a fan of Jose Andres for many years, but this was our first visit to this particular Jaleo. The server was great, especially when it came to helping us choose a Spanish white wine to accompany our small plate selections. We stuck to seafood: shrimp. oysters, crabmeat and finished with the bacon-wrapped date with an almond in the center. Really, really good!"

  • "Jaleo in CC (best of the three restaurants in my view) never disappoints, but this last visit was better than usual, and usual always calls for superlatives. Good was a smidge more flavorful, sangria a touch more fruity, the waiter's two suggestions to round out the three picks each of the three diners were sublime! The best plates on the table! The only thing missing was the strawberry sorbet.... It was the selection from the night before! I've been dining here as regularly as possible hoping to catch that illusive night when it is offered when I am there.... It's been three years and counting... But when I finally hit the date just right, it will be so much more than the typical delectable dessert."

  • "We hadn't been to Jaleo in quite awhile, and decided to stop here to celebrate my birthday on the way home from National Airport on a Monday evening. As usual, the food was delicious. I tried a couple of new dishes, both with Brussels sprouts, and wasn't blown away by either. My favorite each visit always seems to be the Spanish omelet, and we also enjoyed our Rossejat paella. We ordered enough of everything that I was able to make a meal of leftovers for lunch the next day."

  • "I took my wife to Jaleo (Crystal City) for her birthday. We love Tapas! Our favorite restaurant is La Tasca. However, I wanted to take her somewhere outside of our immediate area. while the food was good, this restaurant was not our favorite. We know the concept of Tapas (small dishes), but the portions given, bordered on TOO small. The price was also a bit steep (probably due to the location of the restaurant). Our server, while good, was sometimes inattentive. Overall, would we go back to this restaurant? Proably not. However the food wasn't terrible and the experience wasn't horrible..it just wasn't for us."

  • "Jaleos always presents incredible food, but I've had hits and misses with the service. At our last meal, the waiter never spoke to or even looked at my adult daughter to introduce himself and the restaurant, explain the specials, ask for her order, see if things were good, or anything. After she noticed and said something, we noticed he treated the other tables the same way, only addressing the men. If there were only women, he only talked to the one with the credit card. Otherwise, good experience."

  • "Great service! We reserved a table for dinner and was a little late, however the resturaunt was still accomodating and gave us a super table with great view. In addition, the also put a rush on our order so that we could make it to the theater (which is what brought us to the area). Awesome night thanks to a wonderful Chef and staff!"

  • "We were visiting area from out of state and planned a birthday celebration for 20 people at Jaleo-Crystal City. I was looking for great food, w/in shuttle range of hotel. Food was fabulous, amazing quality, preparation and flavors! Value --not so much. It's very conceivable you could leave hungry even after spending $1000 on dinner for 20 people. The hangar steak was a favorite.The little red peppers stuffed with goat cheese weren't appreciated by most. Pollo al ajillo con salsa verde was everybody 's favorite. Green sauce is great, not too spicy. Fish croquettes& chicken croquettes were a hit with finger food kid crew . Potatoes w/ aioli just OK, lots left on plate. Gambas al ajillo-amazing, tender, not too spicy ,just not enough of them"

  • "We enjoyed our tapas - we ordered vegetable dishes all of which were excellent, - and sangria. Unfortunately, the noise level and number of customers were so high that out waiter did not hear what we ordered correctly. We had to leave for our performance at Synetic Theater (which is a short walk from the restaurant) having not received what we had ordered. The staff did all they could to make up for this inconvenience (we were treated with a tapas dish that was on the house and were given a discount toward future dining). I recommend requesting a table outside in order to be able to hear your dinner companions."

  • "Very nice dinner at Jaleo. I've been to 3 of them now - Bethesda, Las Vegas and Crystal City - and while not as stunningly good as the Vegas restaurant, the Crystal City location does a fine job of representing Chef Andres' style and philosophy. The food was flavorful and not fussy. The wine list is extensive with a good number of affordable choices and the service was attentive and helpful. A very nice experience overall."

  • "Pre-Theater menu was excellent, especially a perfectly cooked chicken (moist inside, crispy out), Ensalata Campera (excellent presentation for a tuna salad). Words of caution: advise the waiter if you are in a hurry for a show as dishes may come out late if restaurant is full, especially on a Saturday."

  • "Jaleo always delivers for a fun and sharable dinner experience. Our waiter was a great help to us in picking our dishes. Drinks were yummy but skipped the bar because it was hard to get any attention there for a pre-dinner drink. Table service and hostesses - great, friendly, attentive! (Bar service - not so great this trip.) Really enjoyed the bread with tomatoes - yum! and the mushroom and potatoes dish - yum! Scallops were perfect but only 2 in an order so not really enough to share. Will be back because it's always a fun time and reliably tasty food."

  • "We had the most delicious dinner at Jaleo's the day we arrived in Crystal City. My husband had been here on business in the past and raved about the food here. Everything was perfect and delicious from the beet gazpacho to the incredible olive oil ice cream and grapefruit. We also indulged in the hazelnut cake with hazelnut ice cream. Both were the best desserts we ever had. I would highly recommend the chick pea stew, Spanish tuna salad, and mushroom dishes. Each dish tasted better than the next. We talked about the restaurant and food all night! Needless to say we are going back again tonight for dinner. Thank you for the delicious experience. We recommend this restaurant to EVERYONE!!!"

I can't wait to go back and to try Zaytinya, the chef's other restaurant. There was live flamenco music and a flamenco dancer the night I was there, and that made the event truly memorable."

  • "We always find new tasty plates to share. We love going there, can always get in (unlike downtown) and the food is fab. It is a Sunday treat, I don't have to cook and clean up. Try the tried shrimp with the aioli, the roasted peppers with the goat cheese, the sausage with the white beans, and be sure to have the flan for dessert. Just thinking about I am ready to go back."

Unpolished wine glasses; poor wine knowledge; sparse selection: salty purple gazpacho, excellent, but limited salads, 2 small, unremarkable paellas, custard not flan. A disappointing experience, especially after traveling early just for Sunday Paella Special. Manager was correct in picking up tab, we left a good tip, but had better paella from Tenerife-born, musician/amateur cook, own hands and at another DC restaurant."

  • "Went for dinner with a colleague and a business client. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the atmosphere was very upbeat and lively. We were waited on promptly by a very knowledgeable young waitress. She helped with our wine selection and to navigate the menu. When we couldn't decide what to eat she suggested the Chef's Classic choice sampling option. It was fantastic! A small bite of 15 or 16 different selections.The noise level in the reastuarant rose as the night went on, but I'm sure that our table contributed. This might not be the place for a quiet romantic dinner. For us, it was a great evening."

  • "We took our daughter and a friend here before they headed off to Spring Break. As our last visit, we had exceptionally good service. We didn't try any new dishes this time around, just stuck to old favorites - Gambas con gabardina, Endibias con queso de cabra y naranjas, Vieiras con puré de calabaza - although we did try two new cheeses, and especially liked the Rey Silo Rojo. Somehow, the accompaniments with the cheeses continue to get better and better. The one new dish we tried was the Coles de Bruselas, warm salad of Brussels sprouts, apricots, apple, grapes, and Serrano ham, which was excellent. It was extremely noisy, which made conversation hard, so we rated the ambiance less than perfect for this visit."

  • "Party of 5 on a busy Saturday and we all agreed it was one of the best meals we've had in the area. The duck confit special was amazing, hangar skirt steak with blue cheese sauce was delicious, and the red sangria is one of our most favorite. The restaurant was very loud, but you could manage a conversation without yelling too loudly. It is pricey but worth it...skip the dessert though. We tried the flan and rice pudding, they weren't what expected and didn't hit the spot. Other than that, service was great and we had a fabulous meal!"

  • "Jaleo is one of my favorites in the city. I work not too far from the downtown location. It is a frequent spot whether is for a few drinks after a long day at work or a nice meal with visiting out-of-towners. This was my second time at the Crystal City location, and once again I was not disappointed. The food tasted different, and I know this because I tend to stick to the same dishes. Service was not bad, but it was not great. I asked for bread, and the response I received from our waiter was "Let me ask the chef". I wasn't sure what that meant. Bread was delivered to our table, nevertheless I was confused. I like Jaleo, and I will keep going, however not to the Crystal City location."

  • "...come hungry, but not too hungry. My fiance and I spent 2 hours and 15 minutes here. Why? The service. It was dreadfuly slow. I hadn't had this problem before on previous visits. Not sure what the problem was - the place was not packed (as I have seen it before). We ordered our dessert and it took almost 15 minutes before we got it. We thought it'd be a lil faster since it's a cold item but we were wrong and we missed out on our next part of the date (movie) since it took another 10 before we were able to get our credit card swiped to pay. Love the food, but I'll be hesitant to come again unless I have the rest of the evening free."
