Just introduced daughter, husband and grandchild. They all loved it. It has never been less than excellent in a zillion years. The menu has changed and grown through the years. Your Mon. speacial is a real bargin.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI did not mention to the restaurantI did not mention to the restaurant that it was my birthday dinner outing and so I was very impressed by the waiter as he noticed my sister gave me a birthday gift and inquired if in fact it was my birthday and was kind enough to bring us a dessert to celebrate. He was very on top of things throughout the meal.
Loved the music selections. Our meals were delicious. We went for the Monday night steak special which we felt was resonable but ended up with a very large bill. Next time we will have one drink each instead of two and only one or no additional sides instead of two. Amazing how it all adds up so quickly. Being retired means we need to cut back and this was an awakening to know what to do in future dining experiences.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBrookfield StapleJakes has been around for a long time and it's easy to see why. They are known for their steaks and they are delicious. Unlike most newer steak joints this one still offers 2 sides versus everything being ala carte. My friend and I ordered the 6 oz. filet which was served with your choice of sauce. I chose Jake's sauce and my friend chose the blue cheese. She raved about hers and mine was equally delicious. They are also known for their onion straws. Overall we had a good experience at Jakes. The duck was excellent and my wife always enjoys the Coquille St. Jacques. The onion rings are great also. There are not many standard vegetable offerings, which can prove frustrating. The seating is rather crowded also. We were seated right on time and the staff was very efficient and attentive. The food, as usual, was excellent. We started with the crab dip appetizer and then had the three tenderloin steak entree, which was perfectly done. They have an extensive wine and beer list and great deserts as well (their flowerless chocolate cake is excellent.)
