Jake's - Palm SpringsAlthough the place was veryAlthough the place was very busy, we waited only a few minutes for our reservation and received a great table. We all had either the house made spicy Bloody Mary or the BLT Bloody Mary which is incredible with bacon scewered with a cherry tomato and lettuce and used in place of a celery stick and with bacon infused vodka. Two of us had the delish chilliquilias egg dish, one had the excellent 'eggs in purgatory' (eggs all perfectly runny as ordered!) and one had the Miami Vice Salad which is so popular. Finished with a huge piece of the salted caramel cake and a round of cappuccinos. Excellent service by Sean and the owners, Chris & Bruce, came by the table to be sure we were pleased --we were! It's tiny and the owners are hands-on. They are always around to meet, greet and ensure that everything is perfect - I LOVE supporting this business for that reason alone. The patio is the place to be and you can even bring your well-behaved dog!
Open for lunch and dinner, there is a full bar with daily drink specials. The first time we dined @ Jake's, we knew we had discovered someplace special. The outdoor dining space is intimate and quiet, no matter the season, protected from "the roar" of Palm Canyon. And, if you can get it, a table by the fountain is really lovely. (Although, dinner @ the bar with bartender, Randy, is also delightful.) The food is consistently excellent, portions perfectly sized, and, prices fairly reasonable. After cocktails (generous!), we enjoyed the tempura shrimp appetizer - light, crisp, delicious. For the main course, I had the crispy bass which was succulent and flavorful. My partner had the veal milanese which was perfectly coated and delicious. We finished by sharing a piece of fudgy chocolate cake - wonderful!
