Jake's - Palm SpringsOne of my top 5 meals everWe went there for our anniversary dinner having been there a few times for brunch. Everything was marvelous. The sauce on the scallops made my tongue water on first bite. My partner had salmon encrusted with a crab srirracha that was amazing. The outdoor atmosphere with misters is very romantic and the staff is fun, energetic and very competent. And don't forget to have dessert - the banana toffee crunch cake is as good as it gets.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGem in North Palm SpringsThis lovely space serves interesting drinks, excellent food and good service. The owners and staff make you feel very comfortable in this charming oasis. The presentation of food is outstanding. OH, don't forget dessert!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Service, Fantastic FoodI had family visit from out of town. They travel and dine out often so are not easily impressed. I took them to Jake's for lunch. I did not tell them anything about the restaurant. THEY LOVED IT! I expected they would. Jake's has great creative food and the best service in Palm Springs.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMreal findEXCELLENT FOOD AND STAFF WAS OUTSTANDING. A LITTLE NOISY IN THE DINNING ROOM BUT COURTYARD WOULD BE THE PLACE TO DINE. LOVED IT AND WILL BE GOING BACK6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA little gem of a restaurantSunday brunch is simple but elegant breakfast fare done superbly well. Some of the best service I have experienced in the valley. Who would have thought to serve basil pesto bacon?! It is a delicious combinatiion. Very savory. Their grain bread toast is not to be missed, paired with a nice serving of jam.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing ServiceOur server, Kim, was amazing. She was helpful and made great suggestions. She and the whole team made our dinner incredibly enjoyable. We picked Jake's from the restaurant week list and were incedibly glad. We had the filet, chicken and scallops plus different appetizers all around and everything was wonderful. Would recommend Jake's to anyone visiting Palm Springs.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMRelaxing Summer DiningDining on the outdoor patio was very pleasant, with misters keeping it cool and comfortable even on a very hot evening. The crab and Sriacha crusted salmon was different and delicious. The atmosphere was like relaxing on a friend's patio. The service was friendly and attentive to requests, but the follow-through was a little lacking, and we had to ask for things several times. Definitely recommended for a nice, but casual and relaxing dining experience.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMJake's Doesn't DisappointThe hubby and I visited Jake's during Palm Springs Restaurant Week.
Highlights:
Firecracker Calimari: Not so full of fire, this is some of the best calamari I've ever tasted. The sauce was a definite plus.
Salmon "Dy-no-mite": This dish really cannot--and should not be--missed.
Seared Sea Scallops: Never have I had a beurre blanc that is so flavorful and accompanies a dish so well. The only letdown was that the wilted arugula was replaced by spinach.
Dessert: Beyond expectations. You must have dessert here!
Low-lights:
The wait-staff. It took forever to get our bill or obtain any service what-so-ever. Jake's would receive 5 stars except for the staff who took forever and couldn't multi-task.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the owners to the servers,From the owners to the servers, everyone is very friendly and helpful. The food is always excellent.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved Jake's........our secondLoved Jake's........our second visit only this time we sat outside.....loved that, too. Food was excellent and choices for Restaurant Week were great.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasing!I read in one of your reviews that they were closing for the Summer and we forgot to ask. Is this true?6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMJakes never DisappointsGood food, good service, great drinks and save room for dessert - incredible cakes.
Everyone order something different so we all tasted the other persons dish. The salmon was awesome, the scallops fresh. Can't wait to go back6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNever Fails to PleaseWe are "regulars" at Jake's, but always before for lunch. This was our first time for dinner. We didn't realize we'd have the Restaurant Week menu, but that turned out to be a nice surprise given the reasonable price for an excellent meal. We both had wedge salads for the starter. I had the perfectly prepared scallops on top of a potato crocquet. My husband had chicken piccata that he really enjoyed. Our deserts were Choclate "Ugly" Cake and Coconut Cake---both delicious. As usual, our server was great, and so were the rest of the staff. (At Jake's everyone there goes the extra mile to make it a feel-good-all-around experience.) Now that we've experienced a Jake's dinner, we'll be back more often in the evening.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI love JakesWe had the restaurant week menu. Choices were well rounded. The place was packed and service was still prompt. While i used to favor Copleys Jakes is now my favorite gem in Palm Springs. The service is way better and everyone seems to care that you are there enjoying their establishment.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Hidden Gem in Palm SPringsI was introduced to this restaurant last year, when my daughter from Rhode Island , sent me a gift card to use, at Jakes for my birthday. She found the restaurant online. Took me a few minutes to find it, but we tried it and it was very special. This year I had to go back and try again for Restaurant Week. The Sea Scallops were outstanding, and me from the East coast, where sea food is spectacular, I was very impressed. This is our special place now. I will be back and recommend to all my friends6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and atmosphereBeautiful setting beneath the trees. Very good food, excellent service. Couldn't have been a nicer evening.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic as alwaysFrom the cozy outdoor patio and bar, to the fabulous desserts, I can't say enough about Jake's. The food is wonderful and the service is very professional.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe LOVE Jakes! We have become regulars here. The food is fantastic, the service is friendly and they let us bring our pup on the patio. Oh...and the desserts are to die for. Went during restaurant week and WOW! Appetizer, filet mignon, and one of their fabulous desserts...only $26. The food at Jakes is by far the best in N. Palm Springs. Very small restaurant so be sure to make a reservation.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect as usual.Always great! The food is wonderful and the staff is absolutely lovely. Made the evening perfect.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA great new findFirst time at Jake's, and I wonder where I have been all this time, and why is it first time.
Service excellent and friendly, food good, happy atmosphere.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty meal in lovely outdoor spaceWe went early with a group of adults and (older) kids, and really enjoyed ourselves. Jake's is small. Most tables are in a courtyard with modern decor and a green hedge as one wall. Misters sprayed us occasionally, though we didn't really need them the night we went. Food was uniformly very good - thoughtful preparations, well seasoned and prepared. There were good options for adventurous and non-adventurous eaters. Not a place for little kids because the space is tight and small, but our calm kids did great and were welcomed by the staff. Huge cakes for dessert were yummy and fun.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food in Palm SpringsThis was our second time dining @ Jake's and it was another great experience. We have a vacation home in Palm Springs and spend a good amount of time there, and this is by far the best restaurant we've found in the area. The food quality is excellent and fresh, innovative and very well priced. The place is small, so reservations are a must, and you should specify in advance if you prefer to sit inside or out (both are very nice; just depends on your preference). Service is terrific and the desserts are not to be missed! Also love the great prices on house wine (which is also quite good). There is no question we will be back.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent favoriteAlways a winner. This peaceful indoor/outdoor space is great for a quiet lunch with friends or an intimate dinner. We love that the dog can come along.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA Hidden Desert GemExcellent Service! Delicious Food & Presentation! The Eggplant was Yummy! Outdoor Patio & Inside Dinning Area. Tasty Desserts too!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough the place was veryAlthough the place was very busy, we waited only a few minutes for our reservation and received a great table. We all had either the house made spicy Bloody Mary or the BLT Bloody Mary which is incredible with bacon scewered with a cherry tomato and lettuce and used in place of a celery stick and with bacon infused vodka. Two of us had the delish chilliquilias egg dish, one had the excellent 'eggs in purgatory' (eggs all perfectly runny as ordered!) and one had the Miami Vice Salad which is so popular. Finished with a huge piece of the salted caramel cake and a round of cappuccinos. Excellent service by Sean and the owners, Chris & Bruce, came by the table to be sure we were pleased --we were! A perfectly delightful Mothers Day Brunch!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceExcellent food and excellent service! This was our fifth time dining here and everything was spot on. Thanks Jakes!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA PS Favorite!Tucked into the courtyard of a historic building on North Palm Canyon Arts District - this little gem of a restaurant never disappoints. It's tiny and the owners are hands-on. They are always around to meet, greet and ensure that everything is perfect - I LOVE supporting this business for that reason alone. The patio is the place to be and you can even bring your well-behaved dog!
Open for lunch and dinner, there is a full bar with daily drink specials. It gets really busy on weekends so reservations are a must - I love that they are on open table.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous findThis place was recommended to us, and we are so happy with the recommendation. The food and service were great, with a notable wine list as well.
Very charming and intimate space inside, great for that romantic dinner.
The service staff were friendly and more than happy to make suggestions off the menu.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Food & SpirtisThis was our last stop (for brunch) before leaving Palm Springs after 5 glorious days and it left a great lingering sensation! The staff was all knowing and yet only there when you wanted/needed them. The patio is small, but nicely appointed and the outdoor atmosphere is perfect! Highly recommend!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently excellent inConsistently excellent in every aspect. Their specials mean you never get tired of "the same old menu." The food is always perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We ate outside, temperature was about 75 and you felt that you were in the country - totally enclosed patio. Everybody loved their food - I had Ciopino and it was the largest amount of shellfish that I ever had in this dish.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMfabulous unique menu selectionsLove the unusual food selections and the outstanding deserts. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was great- so much that we scheduled an afternoon meal there before our flight departing PSP. Unfortunately we were running late for a sit-down meal so we called ahead and placed a to-go order. Again, they accommodated us no problem and the sandwiches were fantastic. Also had a slice of cake that was amazing. We will def return the next time we are in the desert.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at Jake's but notFirst time at Jake's but not the last. A lot of great seafood offerings but there is plenty for those who may not enjoy the fish. Would recommend highly.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost perfect except for salmonThis is new for us and we've lived in the desert an awfully long time. Wine list is excellent plus the best ribs and pork chops ever. The salmon was thin and dry. Next time we will ask for something else. Otherwise, we will definitely go back and try again!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved it at Jake's! ItWe loved it at Jake's! The first time we dined @ Jake's, we knew we had discovered someplace special. The outdoor dining space is intimate and quiet, no matter the season, protected from "the roar" of Palm Canyon. And, if you can get it, a table by the fountain is really lovely. (Although, dinner @ the bar with bartender, Randy, is also delightful.) The food is consistently excellent, portions perfectly sized, and, prices fairly reasonable. Only down side: Jake's is closed early July through mid to late-September.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVery hip and trendy placeVery hip and trendy place in Palm Springs. And oh the chocolate cake!!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPalm Springs has some greatPalm Springs has some great little 'local' spots - Jakes is in the Design District and a real local fav from what we could tell. The food is outstanding, the service was very friendly and timed perfectly. Price was about what we'd expecct. Expensive, but worth it. We visit Jakes on all our trips here...we'll be back...4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHave been there twice forHave been there twice for brunch/lunch. AWSUM! Ahi tuna wrap a home run! And the Jake's egg sandwich was spectacular! Love it so much taking weekend guests there for dinner next week.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMJake's is consistently good.Jake's is consistently good. The setting is charming, especially on the patio. And the staff is always friendly and fun. While the menu has some fairly routine-sounding items, they give everything a twist that's uniquely their own (e.g., rather than the typical Rueben, theirs is made with a spicy Italian sausage). My personal favorite dish is Jake's "Miami Vice" salad---shrimp, avocado, feta, with a wonderful, light citrus dressing.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly service and greatFriendly service and great ambiance and food.
