My salmon was overcooked and my brussel sprouts were undercooked. My husband ordered the stuffed salmon and it was overcooked and understuffed. We were disappointed. But, my 78 year old friends whose birthday it was loved her crab cocktail and the ambience was certainly lovely.

We had a reservation for dinner on a Saturday night and decided to eat light and not drink, neither if which went over well. They were not solidly booked. Our salads were pathetic in portion and the ceasar was not good at all. The appetizers-calamari and kobe beef pot stickers were fine. Service was pleasant but we could tell she wasn't happy with our order.

Our expectations may have been too high since most of the reviews led us to believe it would be one of the nicest dinner locations in Portland. The tables were nice and the staff were very friendly. It was a bit noisy so not the romantic anniversary dinner was hoped for. The food was good but not good enough for the price. Not on par with a Ruth's or Fleming's. We had the pork shank and prime NY strip. Both entrees somewhat bland in flavor which was disappointing. The NY strip was VERY tender. We probably won't go again unless it is at someone else's request.

All of the Landry restaurants, of which Jakes Grill is a part, are reliably good. The food is ample, basic, well-prepared fare. The prime rib is outstanding, the fish was nice, the salads were large enough to share, and the dessert was good, too. They want to please you. That is important because one of our group had a hearing problem, and they re-located us in a quieter spot than the original one. They also marked our birthday occasion with a special dessert. The wine list was sufficient, too. You cannot go wrong with Jake's Grill.

We wanted a fish dinner not Asian style so tried Jake's. The atmosphere was old world wood and brass with white linen tablecloths and napkins. We ordered stuffed salmon and halibut. Both looked wonderful but my halibut was overcooked and dry. When I tried to cut into it I could not cut it with my fork and when I tried to cut the asparagus, they were so stringy I could not cut them either. At just that moment the waiter came over to ask how everything was. He took one look a the situation and asked if he could bring me something else. I pointed to my dining companion's plate and said that looks good. He took my plate immediately and brought over a new plate of the stuffed salmon several minutes later which was delicious. Exceptional service!

I am always trying new things at restaurants but always love a good steak. I got a NY Steak and felt that it was cooked perfectly but the quality of the steak was way below the quality that a restaurant of this class should be serving. I have had better quality steaks from a basic grocery store Not Choice grade thats for sure

Not sure why but my husband were seated in an isolated area of the restaurant that was a little on the dark side. We would have preferred to be closer to the action and windows since it was a sunny early evening meal. We made our reservations more than a month in advance so I don't know why we were seated there. There was also fruit flies at our table which was annoying. The food was ok but considering my overall experience I think for the money, I'll choose a different restaurant in the future. I can't really not recommend Jakes but I'd recommend other restUrants before I'd recommend this one. Disappointing for us.

I took my 81 yr old mom to Jakes for her birthday prior to attending a concert downtown. We had excellent service, the food was great and we truly enjoyed ourselves. My mom had raw oysters in the half shell and she was in heaven. They were fresh and delicious. Jakes is a great place for special occasions, happy hour snack, or any time. It is located in a good area downtown, parking across the street, lots of activity outside. I have been to Jakes several times and will definitely return.

We had friends in town from Germany who wanted an American steak. Since steak and Jake's are synonymous, we took them to Jake's Grill. Our group ordered the 24-oz T-Bone, the beef stroganoff, the Alaskan Salmon, and the stuffed salmon (brie, crab, and shrimp). Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The steak was perfect (according to Jens) and so was the salmon. Great place to bring visitors or on special occasions.

Our group of 5 ladies arrived a little late for our reservation for 5:45 on Saturday, August 9 (we went to the wrong Jake's at first!), but we called in and everybody was really nice about it. We were seated immediately, received excellent service, enjoyed fantastic food and drinks, and had a great time. Several people came over and complimented our handmade top hats, and our waiter even brought a tiny pitcher of simple syrup when the bride's drink was a teensy bit tart for her taste. I had one of the best daiquiris that I have ever tasted, as well as a filet mignon that absolutely melted in my mouth. The Halibut with Pistachio Pesto was amazing, as well. Thank you, Jake's Grill!

I hadn't been to Jake's in a while and decided to go for dinner there with a friend. Had the Mac and Cheese and a mixed greens salad (their only dinner salad option). The Mac n Cheese was just so-so ... not a whole lot of flavor, really could have used a variety of cheeses and some sort of crumb topping. The salad was overpriced (7.99 for just lettuce and vinaigrette dressing). If you're into steak, that's really what they are known for ... if not, I would go elsewhere. I do have to give kudos to them for service, however ... attentive, friendly, and seem genuinely appreciative of your patronage.

Turned up for an 8:00 reservation, told they were running 5 minutes behind. Finally seated 40 minutes late. Waiter nowhere to be found. Ordered wine, wrong bottle brought to table. Ordered meals, mine was cooked (actually not cooked) and it took 30 minutes to correct. By this time my wife's dish was cold. The managers response was "save room for dessert". Lastly, when the bill came it was also incorrect and it took another 20 minutes to sort that out. Absolutely nothing positive in this experience.
