I took my 81 yr old mom to Jakes for her birthday prior to attending a concert downtown. We had excellent service, the food was great and we truly enjoyed ourselves. My mom had raw oysters in the half shell and she was in heaven. They were fresh and delicious. Jakes is a great place for special occasions, happy hour snack, or any time. It is located in a good area downtown, parking across the street, lots of activity outside. I have been to Jakes several times and will definitely return.

We had friends in town from Germany who wanted an American steak. Since steak and Jake's are synonymous, we took them to Jake's Grill. Our group ordered the 24-oz T-Bone, the beef stroganoff, the Alaskan Salmon, and the stuffed salmon (brie, crab, and shrimp). Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The steak was perfect (according to Jens) and so was the salmon. Great place to bring visitors or on special occasions.

Our group of 5 ladies arrived a little late for our reservation for 5:45 on Saturday, August 9 (we went to the wrong Jake's at first!), but we called in and everybody was really nice about it. We were seated immediately, received excellent service, enjoyed fantastic food and drinks, and had a great time. Several people came over and complimented our handmade top hats, and our waiter even brought a tiny pitcher of simple syrup when the bride's drink was a teensy bit tart for her taste. I had one of the best daiquiris that I have ever tasted, as well as a filet mignon that absolutely melted in my mouth. The Halibut with Pistachio Pesto was amazing, as well. Thank you, Jake's Grill!

I hadn't been to Jake's in a while and decided to go for dinner there with a friend. Had the Mac and Cheese and a mixed greens salad (their only dinner salad option). The Mac n Cheese was just so-so ... not a whole lot of flavor, really could have used a variety of cheeses and some sort of crumb topping. The salad was overpriced (7.99 for just lettuce and vinaigrette dressing). If you're into steak, that's really what they are known for ... if not, I would go elsewhere. I do have to give kudos to them for service, however ... attentive, friendly, and seem genuinely appreciative of your patronage.

Turned up for an 8:00 reservation, told they were running 5 minutes behind. Finally seated 40 minutes late. Waiter nowhere to be found. Ordered wine, wrong bottle brought to table. Ordered meals, mine was cooked (actually not cooked) and it took 30 minutes to correct. By this time my wife's dish was cold. The managers response was "save room for dessert". Lastly, when the bill came it was also incorrect and it took another 20 minutes to sort that out. Absolutely nothing positive in this experience.

Three of us had fish and all three were perfectly prepared. In fact, I've never had better rock fish and I live in rock fish country. The fourth member of our party had the top sirloin and while it was cooked to the correct donenes, the meat quality was average. What was ironic was this was Jake's Grill and not Jake's seafood a block or two away. The service, of corse, was impeccable. Jake's is a tad spendy but well worth the premium when you want a superb dining experience.

I travel to Portland several times a year and have been to Jake's Grill several times. It isn't what it use to be since becoming a part of the Landry group of restaurants. It was OK, not that reasonable for the quality, but not memorable either. For the same amount of money spent, ($100./pp including tip and wine) you can do much better elsewhere in Portland.

We had our 25th anniversary dinner at Jake's Grill. The staff couldn't have been nicer. They reserved a window booth for us (as requested) and even made up personalized menus to honor our big day. The environment was charming and laid back and the food was pretty good. M husband really enjoyed his prime rib Sunday special. My sirloin was a bit tough and the peppercorn sauce was kind of harsh and not what I expected. But all in all it was a nice experience and I'd return. We went to Jake's for Christmas dinner and that's what brought us back. They make your visit a happy one.

We have been here several times in the past and always had a good meal with good service. This was the first time we choose a seafood item. While all items on the Seafood Trio were good, most was a bit overcooked. The lone item that was cooked to near perfection was the salmon. The crab/shrimp cake had too much filler and was way overcooked. The shrimp were slightly overcooked. The service was excellent. The clam chowder and French onion soup were both excellent.

We have been coming here the past few years to watch the parade and enjoy dinner. It has always been busy and we expect food to take longer, but this time was unbearable. It took 3 times for our server to stay long enough to take our order then she didn't even start until after passing out hard rolls. She never checked back in with us after and I had to ask another server to bring our check. If not for the company of our friends it was very unpleasant & we left right after eating. Next year we plan on finding a new parade viewing restaurant.

Just had dinner. Tried to use a Jake's $50/off cert we got awhile back. No exp date. Wouldn't take it. Said when Landry's bought Jake's from McCormick & Schmick's they quit honoring these certs that were given out. What a crock! Business must be hurting at Jake's. Not a question of the money. My wife and I dine out frequently, spending what we did here all the time. More a matter of principal. Landry's should honor certs and coupons out there in the world, regardless of when issued. Poor business! We will never visit a Landry's owned property. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

Jake's Grill is a beautiful restaurant. Our waiter, Tony was spectacular. There were six of us and we were well taken care of. The food was good/average, the only entre that would get 4 stars is the mac n cheese (oh my!). Stroganoff, halibut, fish n chips were all average. The desserts were wonderful - we had the creme brulee, warm chocolate cake, berry crisp, and chocolate pot de creme. Make sure and save room. Wine list, beer list, and cocktails were great too.

We have been to Jake's Grill for the last 3 Mother's Days. It is always a busy place as we know that most moms love to be treated to a yummy brunch for their day. This year we cannot be positive about our experience. The service was poor to fair. Our waitress seemed short tempered whenever we asked for anything. The food was OK, but even that was not up to Jake's typical standards. After our trip to Jake's this year we will not be returning to celebrate Mom next year.

In the past when we have eaten there, there was an amazing dessert tray, this time no offer of that. There was no suggestion of mimosas or fresh squeezed orange juice, either. The crab cake benedict was delicious, but skimpy on the hollandaise. I was a bit disappointed.

I would have to say that the Mother's Day Brunch experience was a disappointment for our party of four. The waitress needed to be prompted several times to bring biscuits, jam, butter, coffee, to refill cups, refill water glasses, etc. She also had to enlist two other waiters to bring our order to us. While the breakfast was good but the portions were extremely skimpy. The prices for each entree were about $12-$14 each and were most definitely not worth it. All in all, small portions, poor service, and high prices (for what one actually got )all added up to disappointing experience and a poor value.
