As you explore our web site you’ll soon feel the comfortable & nautical ambience our guests have come to enjoy over the last 20 years. Diner Reviews
  • "Always a great meal. Mussels are fabulous. Fish and Chips and Perch are also standouts. Ribs are 'fall off the bone' tasty and the burger is a step above most restaurants (behind maybe only Koi and WORKS in Hamilton). It's a small and specific menu which is a testament to the overall quality of food; they don't try and do everything. The ambience is classy and mid-upscale yet not fancy. I would recommend this restaurant for regular and casual seafood lovers. One of my favourites in the Burlington-Hamilton area."

  • "We recently went to Jakes for a group work lunch/baby shower for a co worker. Although the restaurantdidnt open until 11:30am they allowed myself to enter at 11:15am to prepare a few decorations at our table . The wait staff was very attentive to our group of 8 and we were served our drinks and food very quickly. The food was delicious and the vibe in the restaurant was fantastic. We will definitely be back again! I also plan to take my family to this restaurant so they can experience the great food .Fresh and full of flavour and the prices are fantastic for the serving sizes!"

  • "First time-with a non-stop screaming child at the next table-we were immediately offered another table but the family was on their way out. Crab cakes were one of the better ones ever sampled.Seafood chowder was really good, not too much thickening agent which is usually the case.My husband ordered his steak medium well,it came extremely thick,we were worried it was going to be raw in the middle but it was one of the best steaks ever, cooked to perfection. My friend's salmon was excellent-well done as requested but not dried out.Two of us had the shrimp/scallop entree-very good but sauce was non-descript and slightly over-priced for the quantity of seafood. Will definitely go back to try the fish/chips on a Tuesday night - I hope it's good."

  • "We were celebrating our son's and girlfriend's birthdays and engagement. Food was good, service great and our waitress kindly arranged for a celebratory treat for the happy couple. A great night out."

  • "The appetizers were excellent although pricey for the quantity. The yellowfin tuna main, however, ordered by 2 of our table of 4, was not very good at all. Desserts sounded lovely but no one had any unfortunately. A loud, roadhouse restaurant suitable for any ages with seafood options instead of burgers and pizzas."

  • "everything was good....just thought it was a little tight for space...serving staff barely getting between us and the next table!"

  • "We have been several times and enjoyed ourselves from the time we walked in the door to when we left. The food is well prepared and well presented. There is no complaint about the quantity either. Certainly value for money."

  • "We like to try new restaurants and cannot believe we have never been here before considering we drive by everyday. The food was amazing, the King Crab Legs were stupendous and the Oreo cheesecake was delightful. Other posts commented on the service being slow, but we found it to be a perfect pace for our evening. The server answered atoll of our questions and we left knowing we would definitely be going back."

  • "One of our family's favorite restaurants ever. The food is always fresh and amazing and the server's do there job very well. Our favorite menu items are the tuna and chowder. They have a great selection of wine's and love how they have proper stem wear for there glasses, which to me is very important. I can't stand it if I order a nice glass of wine some where and they serve it in a chunky wine glass or worse a steam less. Can't wait to return very soon."

  • "My son and I decided on your cuisine. We started with the crab cakes how devine. The oysters rockerfeller were an ocean explosion of flavor. Yum. We then decided On the lunch menu. excellent choice for flatbread followed by chicken an brie panini Closing with decadent cheesecake and creme brulee. Sweetheart yet. Four words: COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF The atmosphere was relaxed. We were there for two hours. Not once did we feel rushed. Very relaxed and able to just converse and take as much time as we wished. We just plain enjoyed ourselves. recommendation are already circulating. We will return."

  • "The fish was excellent. The Rapini was very bitter. Nice if we had a choice of vegetable. The chocolate rose was a nice touch for the ladies."

  • "I've been to Jake's many times and have never had a bad experience, it's one of my favourite places to eat. If you like seafood, this is a great option to try, everything was cooked nicely and tasted very fresh."

  • "We had been long time fans of Jake's but the last time we had been here - a few months ago - it had not been a good experience. However, we decided to try again for my husband's birthday dinner with our grown children and spouses. Our waitress, Tessa, was wonderful and told us they have a new chef. Our meals were very good from the fresh oysters to the salmon, seafood linguine and the lamb, and they included a birthday dessert for my husband. Overall, we were very satisfied and the meal erased the one bad experience - after many, many good ones! - from our minds."

  • "I had made a note and requested a booth for a business discussion. When I arrived, the greeter seemed surprised to hear my request and said he would see if anything was available. I was meeting two colleagues who arrived after me. When they arrived they gave the reservation name, yet were not escorted to the table I was at but told the table would be 10 minutes and they could wait in the bar. Fortunately I had a spot where I could see them walking in. A little more attention is required to the reservation system."

  • "Decided to try Jakes last Thursday and luckily happened on their mussel special which was a great value and really yummy. You can choose from 3 different preparations and each 1.5 lb serving is accompanied by fries (which we upgraded to sweet potato fries) and a small loaf of warm crusty bread for dipping. A great meal for the price. Dinner for 2 with a glass of wine each and coffee came to $45.00 before tip which I thought was fabulous value. The service was attentive and friendly. This is a warm, bustling restaurant suitable for families and after work gatherings with a nice fireplace, good food and service. Would recommend and we will go back."

  • "We have been to Jake's many times and always enjoyed it but our meal was particularly good tonight. Love that they bring in west coast oysters, and not just the run-of-the-mill varieties that you can get anywhere."

  • "Great spot. Service is always great. We have sat at the table in front of the fireplace and think it is one off the most intimate places around. If you can sit there bonus. Recommend to all."

  • "Jakes is a good place to go and get "good food" that is prepared on-site and not from frozen. It's NOT one of those franchise places you see everywhere... which is rare to find in Burlington. It is always one of our top 3 "go-to" places when we don't want to be disappointed and don't want to cook for ourselves. Just remember that hours are limited and you would be wise to reserve a table online."

  • "This is a great place if you are looking for oysters, some nice fish specials and okay steak options. However, the noise level from the bar is very loud if you are looking for a family dining experience where you actually want to talk to each other---stay away on weekends--if you "don't" want to talk to you in-laws etc, pick this place! lol-(this is our fourth time and Sunday evenings are better somewhat). Also, we found the service to be lacking--while we were waiting at our reserved table for six--we waited almost twenty minutes just for drinks. Then my parents that joined us about ten minutes later waited forever for wine service."

  • "Had a good first time experience. Great selection of Oysters and overall the menu is different than a lot of the typically family restaurants, which is a nice change. I will be returning."

  • "My worst experience ever. The waitress was bordering on rude. Service non existent. Not my usual experience there but highly disappointing as I took a friend from overseas and had been raving about it. Will not hurry back!"

  • "Enjoyed a nice meal with my wife and parents. They know how to prepare fish a Jakes. While the food and service were excellent an they were kind enough to move us as far away from the bar area, the noise from the TV/stereo made it difficult to hold a conversation. I find that such artificial noise does not contribute but rather detracts from the natural ambience generated by people having a good time and enjoying each other's conversation."

  • "We like to dine at Jake's on a regular basis to enjoy good beer and tasty food. We especially enjoy the times when they have special dinner choices, such as Lake Erie Perch & Pickerel, and Thanksgiving turkey dinner."
