  • "still a great place to take people from out of town, but on this particular night, I found service to lackluster at best. Our waiter Roy, was taciturn and laconic. There was a great deal of wait time between dishes, even though he often passed by our table. I don't mind paying for great food, but I want a great experience to go with it. Maybe I ask too much."

  • "The food was delicious. Fabulous dessert but were out of oysters. Service was not so attentive and lacked interest in menu."

  • "It's hard to please everyone in a group of 11, but Jake's managed to do just that with us. I had bouillabaisse like I always do and it did not disappoint. Others had salmon, halibut, and ling cod and were extremely happy with their choices. This is a must do when in Portland."

  • "After hearing about what a great experience Jake's offers, my gf and I couldn't resist on our trip to Portland. We split a small portion of crawfish to start which as about 4 or 5 each (10 total). The flavor of the tails and the compound butter was fantastic. We really enjoyed it. We do wish we had crackers for the claws, but since they're so small we were able to break in with a fork. She had the macadamia halibut and I had the parmesan sole. Both dishes were cooked beautifully and tasted wonderful. We had to skip dessert, but they bring it by on a tray to show you the options, which is kind of old school but a nice touch."

  • "We had a party of 7 and waited 15 minutes for our reserved table. Seated at a table that would have been better for 5, crowded and uncomfortable. Jake's service started slow and got progressively slower as the night went on. Water was not refilled, each course seemed to take a long time and, although the entrees were good, by the time they arrived it was too late to recover from the poor timing and service. There are better spots in Portland to entertain clients...try them and save yourself from disappointment here."

  • "Searched open table for a place to go and this was one of the recommended places by the hotel It did not disappoint. Long menu with wonderful options to choose from Had the stuffed halibut and it was outstanding Only negative and it is a small one was that after checking in the hostess desk the girl forgot about us. Went back 5 minutes after our seat time and they had us at a table immediately"

  • "I have been going to Jake's for years and had in fact been there two times in the last six weeks, but this time I had a different experience. Although we requested a booth, we were seated at a table in the dining room behind the bar. The chairs were small and uncomfortable, and it smelled bad. A party of four who were drinking way too much sat next to us, and on the other side there was a party of six with an infant seated at a table that probably would've been best for four. It was busy and noisy, but the food was still good. I'm sure I will go to Jake's again, but will request not to be seated in that dining room. Apparently it used to be the kitchen. It really smelled bad."

  • "We had a very nice meal. The mussel appetizer was excellent as was the clam chowder and house salad. We were allowed to taste a recommended pinot noir that we declined to order and the waitress brought us another that was perfect. I ordered the blackened coho salmon and it was also excellent. My wife ordered the crusted halibut and she thought it was slightly overdone but still tasty. Overall the food was delicious and the service was impeccable."

  • " I've been traveling to Portland for the last several years, for a summer respite from the Arizona heat. The previous trips I've had every intention of getting to Jake's. Finally made it. WOW. I will never visit Portland and leave without at least 1 meal at Jake's. The entire experience was Fantastic! Went to Happy hour , Lunch and dinner another night. All I can say is it is a must. Thanks, Jake's."

  • "We started our 10 day vacation at Jake's Famous Crawfish and we ended it there also. This was our second visit 10 days later and it was just as wonderful as the first time. This night we had Bobby as our waiter and he was not only knowledgeable about everything on the menu but he was fun to talk to about Oregon and sports. Two of us had salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp and it was the best we've ever had of this type of meal."

  • "If you are visiting Portland then Jake's Famous Crawfish is a must for dinner. I recommend making a reservation because it is a popular restaurant. The horseradish parmesan crusted steelhead was one of the best seafood dishes I have ever had and the service is excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Jake's has a good variety of food and deserts. Everything is quality and top of the line ingredients. We always order the crab sauté and it is amazing and delicious every time. Our waiter was great and I can't say we have ever had bad service at Jake's. Always and enjoyable evening."

  • "Jake's Famous Crawfish never disappoints. Always outstanding food and service. The stuffed Halibut was buttery, melt-in-your-mouth yummy. And who could pass up sharing the classic "chocolate paper bag" dessert?! Plus....we were able to use our Open Table reward dollars....great time!"

  • "The last time that I ate at Jake's was 13 years ago (I don't live in the area) and it was excellent then. I was a bit worried to go back since I noticed that it is owned by Landry's, which typically brings its restaurants to overpriced mediocrity. Well, Jake's was as good as I remember. The food was really wonderful and we had a great time. Highly recommended."

  • "My husband and I were seated at a booth, wait staff was prompt and attentive in a great way. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and gave excellent recommendations. My husband ordered the stuffed halibut and I went with the horseradish steelhead, delicious! Thank you for the great food and great service. We will definitely be back for another meal at Jake's sooner than later."

  • "Every time we come to Jake's it's an experience. From the menu printed daily with the latest chef's choice of fresh items to the wonderful deserts. Jake's is where it's happening in downtown Portland. Be sure and check out the drink menu. There are lots of concoctions to challenge your pallet."

  • "This is been one of my favorite restaurants since I moved to Portland (30+ years ago)! It's one of our "special occasion" places -- this week it was our son's birthday. Always comfortable, never rushed, great food & wine. Service seemed a bit slow, but maybe it was just the night. Didn't affect our celebration."

  • "Great Portland iconic restaurant to take out of town business associates."

  • "My nephew and his wife from central California drove through Portland on their way to Seattle, and I recommended we meet at Jake's for lunch. I promised them they would be in for a treat, and I was right. My reservation was in order, we were seated immediately in a booth that looked out on the street, and our server was on hand immediately. The menu was so varied that everyone could have a special treat for lunch, and the original stained glass was beautiful. The restaurant filled up quickly and the noise level was brisk but bearable. The food was delicious and worth the price. I recommend Jake's highly."

  • "The only complaint was tha we were sitting in a nice booth and they sat a family next to us with small unruly children. This is not a place for young children. This is not an inexpensive, come every night restaurannt. If they want to make this a kid friendly restaurant, sit them in an area with other young families. Otherwise it's one of our favorite restaurants when we visit Portland."

  • "Really enjoyed the entire experience and especially the food. High quality, old school fresh food, flawlessly prepared and delivered with legit service that places emphasis on the guest and the meal. Very good wine list too."

  • "Suffering through the hustle and bustle of downtown is well worth it when the destination is Jake's. When we have out of town guests we take them to Jake's for lunch. Recently, friends from The East enjoyed the food and decor. We'll keep coming back."

  • "We've enjoyed Jake's for more than 40 years and I can honestly say I've never had a bad waiter or bad food, and I know, just like the other day, if I want to take someone to a truly special place it's going to be Jake's. I'm never disappointed"

  • "We were a party of four, prompt service, perfect timing of food being served between courses, all of the food was excellent except for the mashed potatoes being served cold. We did not go to Jake's for mashed potatoes:) Would recommend for a special occasion."

  • "That was how I found the restaurant in my google search, and it was right. This location has an excellent happy hour menu. The appies are a great price so it was a great way to try a bunch of the menu items without breaking the bank."

  • "Upon first glance, this restaurant had it all. Market fresh seafood, cozy booths, and then lighting. However, the booths were uncomfortable and almost impossible to get into. This is coming from a 130 pound woman. The appetizers if Brie and crabcakes were just okay. The étouffé had a sweet taste to it that is uncommon, and the fried oysters were so fishy that we had to send them back. The waitress was happy to replace the oysters with fried cod, which again was nothing to write home about. Overall I've been to much better seafood restaurants and would not recommend this establishment."

  • "I requested a nice table and they sat us directly behind the hostess table next to the bathroom. The ambience was poor and the food was fair. Not great, fair. If you want a good meal in Portland, go to Ringside."

  • "I am an out-of-town visitor from the mid-west and have dined at Jake's 2 previous times with rave reviews. I think perhaps our waitress was having a bad day. I, specifically, felt ignored, and I was actually the one paying the bill for a party of 7. Granted, we arrived at different times so the drink orders were a bit chaotic. She never asked me what I'd like to drink, so I had to flag her down. She generally seemed distracted and was not the least bit friendly. When we ordered dessert I added that I would like a cup of coffee. It never came. Jake's has become a lunch tradition upon my arrival in Portland. I had the salmon with dill buerre blanc. And we all loved the clam chowder. Just a bad day."

  • "We loved our visits to Jake's in the 1980's and 1990's when we lived in the Portland area. We returned recently after nearly 20 years of living in another state, and we're sad to say its showing its age and its main dishes are not as good. The oyster appetizers and salads were tasty, but the main dishes were not worth their high prices. There are now too many other good restaurants, so we'll not likely ever return to Jake's Famous Crawfish."

  • "Took visiting friends to Jake's for oysters and seafood/fish at a historic Portland restaurant. As usual, food was excellent and nicely served, but pricey. Worth the visit nevertheless."

  • "We always enjoy dinner at Jakes. We don't visit often, maybe twice a year for special occasions, but we do enjoy the ambiance and the food. The seafood is always fresh and well prepared and the waiters are very professional."
