  • "Jake's has a good variety of food and deserts. Everything is quality and top of the line ingredients. We always order the crab sauté and it is amazing and delicious every time. Our waiter was great and I can't say we have ever had bad service at Jake's. Always and enjoyable evening."

  • "Jake's Famous Crawfish never disappoints. Always outstanding food and service. The stuffed Halibut was buttery, melt-in-your-mouth yummy. And who could pass up sharing the classic "chocolate paper bag" dessert?! Plus....we were able to use our Open Table reward dollars....great time!"

  • "The last time that I ate at Jake's was 13 years ago (I don't live in the area) and it was excellent then. I was a bit worried to go back since I noticed that it is owned by Landry's, which typically brings its restaurants to overpriced mediocrity. Well, Jake's was as good as I remember. The food was really wonderful and we had a great time. Highly recommended."

  • "My husband and I were seated at a booth, wait staff was prompt and attentive in a great way. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and gave excellent recommendations. My husband ordered the stuffed halibut and I went with the horseradish steelhead, delicious! Thank you for the great food and great service. We will definitely be back for another meal at Jake's sooner than later."

  • "Every time we come to Jake's it's an experience. From the menu printed daily with the latest chef's choice of fresh items to the wonderful deserts. Jake's is where it's happening in downtown Portland. Be sure and check out the drink menu. There are lots of concoctions to challenge your pallet."

  • "This is been one of my favorite restaurants since I moved to Portland (30+ years ago)! It's one of our "special occasion" places -- this week it was our son's birthday. Always comfortable, never rushed, great food & wine. Service seemed a bit slow, but maybe it was just the night. Didn't affect our celebration."

  • "Great Portland iconic restaurant to take out of town business associates."

  • "My nephew and his wife from central California drove through Portland on their way to Seattle, and I recommended we meet at Jake's for lunch. I promised them they would be in for a treat, and I was right. My reservation was in order, we were seated immediately in a booth that looked out on the street, and our server was on hand immediately. The menu was so varied that everyone could have a special treat for lunch, and the original stained glass was beautiful. The restaurant filled up quickly and the noise level was brisk but bearable. The food was delicious and worth the price. I recommend Jake's highly."

  • "The only complaint was tha we were sitting in a nice booth and they sat a family next to us with small unruly children. This is not a place for young children. This is not an inexpensive, come every night restaurannt. If they want to make this a kid friendly restaurant, sit them in an area with other young families. Otherwise it's one of our favorite restaurants when we visit Portland."

  • "Really enjoyed the entire experience and especially the food. High quality, old school fresh food, flawlessly prepared and delivered with legit service that places emphasis on the guest and the meal. Very good wine list too."

  • "Suffering through the hustle and bustle of downtown is well worth it when the destination is Jake's. When we have out of town guests we take them to Jake's for lunch. Recently, friends from The East enjoyed the food and decor. We'll keep coming back."

  • "We've enjoyed Jake's for more than 40 years and I can honestly say I've never had a bad waiter or bad food, and I know, just like the other day, if I want to take someone to a truly special place it's going to be Jake's. I'm never disappointed"

  • "We were a party of four, prompt service, perfect timing of food being served between courses, all of the food was excellent except for the mashed potatoes being served cold. We did not go to Jake's for mashed potatoes:) Would recommend for a special occasion."

  • "That was how I found the restaurant in my google search, and it was right. This location has an excellent happy hour menu. The appies are a great price so it was a great way to try a bunch of the menu items without breaking the bank."

  • "Upon first glance, this restaurant had it all. Market fresh seafood, cozy booths, and then lighting. However, the booths were uncomfortable and almost impossible to get into. This is coming from a 130 pound woman. The appetizers if Brie and crabcakes were just okay. The étouffé had a sweet taste to it that is uncommon, and the fried oysters were so fishy that we had to send them back. The waitress was happy to replace the oysters with fried cod, which again was nothing to write home about. Overall I've been to much better seafood restaurants and would not recommend this establishment."

  • "I requested a nice table and they sat us directly behind the hostess table next to the bathroom. The ambience was poor and the food was fair. Not great, fair. If you want a good meal in Portland, go to Ringside."

  • "We loved our visits to Jake's in the 1980's and 1990's when we lived in the Portland area. We returned recently after nearly 20 years of living in another state, and we're sad to say its showing its age and its main dishes are not as good. The oyster appetizers and salads were tasty, but the main dishes were not worth their high prices. There are now too many other good restaurants, so we'll not likely ever return to Jake's Famous Crawfish."

  • "Took visiting friends to Jake's for oysters and seafood/fish at a historic Portland restaurant. As usual, food was excellent and nicely served, but pricey. Worth the visit nevertheless."

  • "We always enjoy dinner at Jakes. We don't visit often, maybe twice a year for special occasions, but we do enjoy the ambiance and the food. The seafood is always fresh and well prepared and the waiters are very professional."

  • "Jake's has excellent seafood. They know and understand the value of good service. Dinner Prices are moderately high but the lunch menu is an amazingly great deal. I love this restaurant and will return many times in the future. PS The drinks ROCK!"

  • "Lots of character in this restaurant...if you're looking for great food and a look into Portland's history, this would be a good place to start..."

  • "We've dined here several times and are looking forward to our next visit. As usual, the food and table service were excellent. This visit I enjoyed the étouffée. This is best version this cajun boy has tasted outside the Louisiana bayous."

  • "The fish and chips tasted like something my mother use to buy frozen and throw in the oven for a quick fix dinner. The fish sticks were very hard and dry. Also, the salmon was over cooked. However, I did like the clam chowder!"

  • "This restaurant was a bit of a disappointment. The quality of the food was not up to the price. We were visiting from out of town and opted to go a more traditional seafood restaurant for some guests. None of us were overly impressed. There are many excellent restaurants in Portland that are much better."

  • "Once again visiting the Northwest finding Copper River salmon for the special entrée. Have not been disappointed yet. Grilled to perfection with warm lemon butter, asparagus and mashed potatoes. Texture of the fish melted in your mouth. Of course the crawfish appetizer was also tasty. The berries and mousse in the chocolate bag for dessert was very good. A very pleasing dining experience."

  • "In the past, we'd dined at Jake's only in the evening, not realizing that lunch was served. We tried a late lunch today, a wonderful experience. Both the swordfish and Copper River salmon were perfectly prepared, sufficiently cooked, but still very moist. Our only concern was our appetites, because we started with the very abundant calamari dish as a first course."

  • "We frequent Jake's for special occasions and it never let's us down. The food is fabulous, the server is great, and the ambience of the restaurant is wonderful. During our last visit we enjoyed the crawfish appetizer, which was especially yummy. This place is one of our favorite places and I always recommend it to newbies to Portland."

  • "Stopped in wanting a nice meal out. Made a reservation while on the Trimet en-route. For a Saturday night, it was dead quiet. A few people inside, but the outdoor seating was full. Perhaps it's just a sign of economic times in Portland, but I felt it should have been busier. Regardless, we received excellent service and conversation from the staff, had a window table to people watch, and enjoyed a fantastic meal of seafood and steak. The rib-eye was delicious, the oysters a hit, and I'm in love with French onion soup again! My only regret is I was too full to partake of the excellent looking dessert menu."

  • "We were there with out of town guests who wanted fish. Definitley not a place to go on a weekend evening. Our cold appetizers were brohght immediately, but the entrees took over an hour after we had finished the appetizers. At one point we asked our waiter how the fish were coming, and he cheerfully said "They're swimming upstream. They'll get here soon." Soon, perhaps, if you're a Galapagos toroise with a 200 year life span. And when the entrees arrived, the halibut was baked tasteless, the salmon was underdone, and the black cod was undermarinated--all signs of a kitchen unable to keep up with the huge weekend business. It was the first bad meal I'd had at Jakes in 20 years. Moral--don't go there when they are really busy."

  • "I was in town by myself for business. I hoped to find the coolest spot in town. I got a great upscale and local menu. The food and wine did not disappoint. Old world styling to the decor, waiters in white coats, and a freshly printed menu with only the best seafood. Loved the offering of crawfish and had the rockfish lafitte. Two glasses from the local vineyards was delicious. I will be back one day. Don't miss the mini desserts which was just enough. Fresh berry cobbler...mmmm."

  • "Jake's Famous Crawfish Restaurant was recommended to us by friends who have dined there many times. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the restaurant from the friendly service to the excellent food. We would definitely go back next time we are in Portland."

  • "Our waitress was very pushy. The popcorn crawfish had a heavy batter on it so you couldn't tell what you were eating. The oysters were OK. The trout was OK although heavily salted. Overall very mediocre."
