Jake's and Cooper's Wine Bar is an innovative restaurant featuring New American cuisine for over 25 years. Chef Bruce Cooper and his staff feature a classic approach to cuisine in a comfortable environment. Come try one of over 100 wines from our new constructed Glass Wine Room at prices that are far below the industry mark up.

In 2008, we opened Cooper's Brick Oven Wine Bar, adjacent to Jake's. Featuring more than 30 wines by the glass from all around the world, Cooper's is a casual, neighborhood eatery.
We also welcome guests to bring your personal cellar selections and join us for dinner in the JAKE'S DINING ROOM for a $15 corkage fee any night of the week.

  • "I was here for brunch on a Sunday about 3 months ago and it was a good experience. This time, because of a scheduling conflict, I had to meet my friend on a Saturday. She insisted that we come here since she loved it last time. This time we ordered lunch. After being treated rudely for asking where I could park my bike, the waitress for our table spilled iced tea on my friend's phone, the hostess (I think) was grumbling about splitting an order of soup into separate bowls for us, and I never received the coffee I ordered at the end of the meal. Granted, my friend is a pretty picky customer, but I had to agree that the service could have been MUCH better."

  • "I've eaten here twice in the past few months, both visits were solid. Our group started with the stuffed quail and meatballs. The quail could have used a bit more gastrique, the meatballs were good. I tried both the grilled pork chops and the calves liver, both were pretty good. The pork came with a strawberry bbq sauce that was really good. The liver seems like it's a staple, having been in the menu for as long as I can remember, and it's deserving. The desserts were shared by all and pretty good, I don't remember the name but the orange/strawberry dessert was good, and light."

Steak was to die for, cocktail perfect, cheese/jam dessert and cognac superb, and the waiter was kind enough to write down for me the names of the singers in the background music. Music perfect volume, just loud enough to enjoy if you wanted to hear it, selections perfectly chosen. I realize I'm not reviewing a concert but a restaurant, but "What a Difference a Day Makes" happened to be a great cut."

  • "The food is great -- lively menu, nice ambiance. They advertise as a BYOB -- which they are, and you can bring your own (wine only, spirits not acceptable). However, they charge a $15/BOTTLE corking fee -- which felt like a rip-off. They do have a bar (have no idea what they serve, we expected a BYOB so we brought our own) -- and were charged $30 for the 2 bottles that they opened. The food is very good, the service was lovely -- can highly recommend the octopus salad, the burger (yeah, really) and Parmesan fries. Dinner was expensive (the food was worth the price, the corking fee of $30 felt like an overcharge)."

  • "We have been coming here 2-3 times per year for afternoon dates. While the cheese plate is always great, the small plates and mains are hit or miss. Seasoning and components to dishes (i.e. number of mushrooms) needs to be consistent. That said, we still enjoyed our meal. The last few times we came here, there was a lot of fruit flies and large black flies."

  • "This is a great Manayunk restaurant. Four of us for dinner - four different appetizers and entrees and four great meals. I had the chicken which was prepared sous vide - crispy skin and moist and succulent on the inside. My wife opted for the crab cakes and you had to look hard to find any breading. And our friends had the scallops and hangar steak - great choices also. They started with beet and cheese salad, and summer gazpacho soup, and I had oysters - succulent and fresh, and my wife the shrimp. Just a little room for desert so I opted for sharing some cheese with our friends, and the other choice was a selection of terrific local ice cream. And our server couldn't have been nicer, and attentive. Visit Main Street and dine here --"

  • "Been to this restaurant often, and have enjoyed it. However, this Friday night, early seating with the place almost empty, the service was much left to be desired for. Not only did the waitress not bring us the condiments we requested, but she failed to follow up on anything. The pizza I ordered was cold and I could not get her attention to reheat it. The dinner out with our daughter left us very disappointed."

  • "The food is always good at Jake's. it's not great, but very good. I just don't understand the short pours. When you go out for a nice meal and you are going to spend more than a few dollars, why pour a drink that fills 2/3 of the glass. Pouring a full drink is such an inexpensive thing to do and not pouring a good size drink generates this kind of review. At $12-15 for a drink, fill my glass."

  • "My daughter and I enjoyed our dinner on Sat. night. They held our table and were very nice about our being late due to traffic. Food was very good. We shared several small plates and liked each one. The artisan cheeses are great with a fig reduction. Mussels very tasty with good broth for bread dipping. Jake's crab cake is always good and the shrimp were plump and had a lemon sauce that really enhanced their natural flavor. Wine selection was very good with fair pricing. Our family has always enjoyed this restaurant and we will be back."

  • "Service is always excellent here. We always eat on Jake's side by the bar. This place is fun and vibrant while leaning more toward upscale, kinda trendy but not snobby side. The burger is amazing; also must have the Mac & Cheese and mushroom soup are both incredible. My boyfriend and I both live this place, it's a great date spot! The only reason I give 4/5 stars for food is that some of the portions are too small, yes I know they're small plates, but I find them to be a little pricy for the quantity but the quality is there so it's still worth it nonetheless. You also can't be their wine list!"

  • "I was excited to try out this restaurant but left frustrated at the complete lack of service and outrageously small portions. First, my group got seated outside with a table that was slanted, (perhaps it was the sidewalk). There was such a slant, that our pizza kept sliding off its elavated tray. Second, it took over a half an hour to get anyone's attention to notify them that we were ready to order. We ended up getting the attention of someone who not our original waitor. Third, my octopus salad was delicious - however, I could have held it in the palm of hand. "

  • "Went out for a nice restaurant week dinner. Jake's and Cooper's isn't a spot that we would normally choose (it looks a little fancy for a casual dinner out), but they had a good menu posted and wanted to try it. It was a nice evening so we ate outdoors. Our waiter was very attentive. The food came out in a timely fashion and was very tasty. The salmon was a little over-cooked but not dry. My boyfriend's lamb was cooked to medium-rare as he requested. Overall a great experience. We would go back most likely for a drink and some appetizers outside if the weather is accommodating."

  • "There are so many great items on the menu it is hard to choose. Apps, sides and small plates are so good you can make a meal of them except for melted gouda-barely a tablespoon. Calimari salad, spinach, brussels, spicy meatballs-YUM! Rib Eye and Swordfish very good. Great drinks-try the bourbon negroni and the IPAs. Warm bread and oil is a good side for $2 but ask for extra oil. Very busy and very noisy but the service was great and we had a seat in the side room towards the back which really helped decrease the decibal level. You are sitting quite close to the next table but it is a more cozy setting. We have always had a great meal here."

  • "Our family loves to go to Jake's for birthday celebrations and so went last Sunday. They accommodated us in a large square table which is great for cross table conversations and nobody is left out. The table fits 8 but we were only 7 because one of us could not make it at the last minute. The service is superb and the food excellent! Every single item on the menu is very tasty so just get what you like and you won't be disappointed! A great touch was a glass of champagne for everybody to toast and ginger ale for my 12 years old daughter. We will be back as soon as we can!"

  • "I had not been to Jakes in years, so I didn't realize that they had a combined menu with Cooper's. Our group of three did several small plates, most of which were very good (highlights were the gnocchi, crabcake and octopus salad. The only clunker was the side of brussels sprouts, which had an overly sweet maple flavoring that just did not work. Service was OK, but the pacing of the dishes was too rapid and we felt rushed. The gnocchi alone would make me go back for another meal."
