Jado SushiSushi Gem in HarlemMy friend and I loved the ambiance and decor of this new Harlem spot. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and service was fast. The food was fresh and tasty, with a wide variety of raw and cooked food. But the highlight of the evening was the drinks. One in particular - the Passion Fruit Margarita - had a cascade of different and refreshing flavors, and was delicious!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA sun in the raisins - Jado SushiSushi in Harlem??!! After living in Japan for 27 years, I came back to my native NYC and I thought I was a bit jaded regarding NYC sushi attempts. With Jado, I prepared myself for a "nice try" experience.
If Harlem is having its new Renaissance it is places like Jado that are leading the rebirth. Amazing!!!! If Jiro does sushi then Jado does Harlem - like no other place. Red Rooster?!! You must be kidding. Jado has the dining experience hands down.
The drinks are original, the ambiance is inviting, the service improves with each visit and the food...served by Japanese sushi chefs who know UMAMI.
You can over pay for bad sushi in so many places in NYC.

While not strictly traditional japanese, it is heavily inspired by it with interesting embellishments that truly compliment. The dishes are executed and taste delicious. The service is super. It is very much worth the price for the quality of the food, ambiance and service.
