A word from Jade Eatery & Lounge
Nestled into a cobblestone square just off Austin Street, Jade Eatery & Lounges’ address hints at why Jade is said to be “Forest Hills hidden gem”. The space integrates a zen-like atmosphere with inspirational quotes that adorn the walls and a serene koi pond presenting a large Buddha statue smiling benevolently on guests guiding them to a choice entree.

  • "the food and service was excellent . I enjoyed it very much . The ceviche and tins and salmon carpaccio was exquisite"

  • "I've been to Jades many times and always have a great time whether dining with a group of friends or dinner with my boyfriend."

  • "Come here often always enjoy the food drinks ambiance and service. Had poor service this time .... Waitress came over in the beginning to get drink order and then forgot about us. Took forever again to get a refill on seltzer water. Not usually like this but service was bad esp on a Sunday evening and the place was half empty."

  • "Tasty Thai menu with ample veggie options from the vegetables section of menu. Friendly service, attractive indoor-outdoor spaces with separate private party space. Service is friendly. A bit noisy at cocktail hour."

  • "Haven't been here in years. Appetizers were ok - worst tum yum soup i ever had - didnt stay for dinner - restaurant was extremely quiet compared to to other restaurants in the area. I dont think I'll be back"

  • "The food was good, the waitstaff was amazing, the drinks were fabulous. Our waiter was named Eddie and though it was very busy he was very friendly and attentive to our large group. The lychee sangria is a must yummm! The manager was a bit scary looming in the background with a scowl but other than that my entire group had a lovely time."

  • "Celebrated my birthday here over the wknd and this place Was just perfect. Perfect place for a large group. Food and service was on point. The drinks were great too."
    Dined on 5/4/2014
  • "Menu has been greatly reduced. Whole pages devoted to Indian, Thai, Chinese and other Asian cuisines have been deleted and a 2-page menu is all that is left. Too much fusion is a bomb."
    Dined on 4/28/2014
  • "The food and presentation are always wonderful. The cocktails are very good too. "

  • "Even though the menu was extensively changed since we were last here, the quality of the dishes presented was still worth the visit. They did remove my favorite dish, a Thai basil stir fry, but what remained was still better than any of the other dining places within several blocks around downtown Forest Hills. The place still stands out for me as a innovative alternative to their rather ordinary and mediocre neighbors. The menu was simplified with the number of dishes reduced by at least half. But now they offer "small plates" that can either be appetisers or ordered in quantity to make up a varied dim sum type meal. We always found the service to be top notch and on this visit we weren't disappointed."

  • "Food-service ambience was excellent! Tucked away in a historic part of Forest Hills-it was truly a diamond in the rough! Would recommend to friends and go back again for great food & wonderful service."

  • "Went as a party of 4 on a Saturday night. Nice décor. Fun and lively after 8:30pm. Live DJ. Decent prices for really good and fresh food!!"

  • "I have been going to Jade for years, I was surprised to see that they have drastically changed their menu, and, so far everything I tried was subpar compared to what they used to have. Prices all increased, my menu favorites went away, & the addition of wok-charred vegetables should've been exciting considering my love for their work-charred edamame app- instead it was an overpriced version of beef and broccoli. They changed the formula of my favorite drink - the blooming lotus which used to have a cool crisp GIN was replaced by a syrupy cloyingly sweet fig-infused vodka. I will say the bartender happily changed the drink to the old school way. On top of all that, it took an HOUR for our food to come out! I'm disappointed to say the least."

  • "Great decor! and very nice food - delicious wok charred broccoli with chicken. very nice wait staff. the only complaint is that the wine list is a bit pricey."

  • "I came here with a friend to grab something quick to eat before watching a movie. We were seated quickly and the server was quite helpful. The food was good but I wasn't entirely impressed by it. I also didn't like the little monitors set-up on each table. They were distracting and they were out of place."

  • "very quiet at lunchtime, so we had a very relaxed experience. delicious pork & lettuce wrap appetizer, and the wok-charred broccoli and chicken is excellent. finished off with a lovely (but very expensive, especially for queens) cabernet"

  • "We just moved in the area few weeks ago. I am so happy we discovered this amazing place! great for lunch or dinner or romantic fun night. I am absolutely coming back there and bringing my friends."

  • "Bartender Kelly was friendly & competent, pouring numerous drinks & maintaining both composure & communication barstool patrons. The pours were reasonably generous & fairly priced. Seating next to the koi pond was pleasant. An appetizer of mixed spring rolls was plated without imagination & was relatively bland, A choice of dipping sauces could make this an achiever. I had a spicy prawn dish that was beautiful to look at, but, without a knife, was virtually impossible to dissect. Fortunately, the taste of the sauce was very good & would not be too spicy for most. My companion's beef dish was apparently very good as well, as it was unusually polished off. A little more ingenuity in flavor and plating would improve things greatly."

  • "The menu has recently been improved, and it is really enjoyable. I loved the tuna tacos and the broccoli with chicken. I can't wait to try the salmon next time, now that the sweet butterscotch sauce has been eliminated. We went for lunch which is very peaceful and quiet, but the bar is lively in the evening."

  • "I am accustom to receiving service from a server and at the end receiving a check and remitting my pay to that same server. Unfortunately, Jade tries to use technology to make it more convient for the customers but it's an epic fail. The worst part is that the servers do not seem trained to take our payment. I do love technology but there is a special bond between customer & server that a computer can not replace. Other then that, food had a nice Asian fusion mix & the ambience (minus the extreme noise & overcrowding) is similar to Sea, the Williamsburg location."

  • "..and not for the better. First of all, they removed the popular and delicious Lychee Martini and replaced it with a lemony concoction that had no lychee in sight! They no longer have the crab ravioli or the pork fried rice without kimchee. No more molten chocolate lava cake; gone forever the scallion pancake. The service tonight was dismal. It's usually casual and unrushed, but tonight the waiter definitely had his mind on other things - quick and thougthful service not being one of those things. Dinner for 4 took over 2.5 hours. The shrimp dumplings remained a standout, flavorful dish, and the toffee brownie was surprisingly good.Overall, I simply did not fully enjoy my visit to the newly-updated Jade. Sorry, but it's just not the same."

  • "Food was great, service was good as well. You can order your food right from the tablet setup on your table and the order gets sent right to the kitchen. Drinks were delicious. Chairs and seating can definitely use some upgrading though!"

  • "They gave me sesame chicken rather than the pepper steak. The sesame chicken was stale and way too sweet. I couldn't finish it."
    Dined on 12/20/2013
  • "I have eaten here several times and enjoyed it. They have recently modified the menu, and several items that I liked are no longer available. The salmon now has an overly sweet butterscotch sauce. There is also a lot of fried items on the menu. However, I liked the tuna taco appetizer, and the sushi rolls were fresh. The others in my party (who eat fried food) really enjoyed their meals. Although the atmosphere at the bar is great, I would not recommend eating in that area, as the waitress is also the bartender, and the service becomes a bit spotty."

  • "Great dinner as usual. Music can get too loud too early- but this not it was perfect!"

  • "We were a party of 11 celebrating a birthday. It took a while for everyone to arrive and the staff was very patient with us. They said we could bring a cake from outsiders they wouldn't charge to cut and serve it. They even helped us surprise the birthday girl, telling us where to hire. The service was good, they were attentive and timely. The food was very good too, although I'm not a big sushi person so I can't compare. The best thing about this place is the music and decor, the ambiance is on point. It's a little pricey which is why I would recommend it for a special occasion or a date. Overall had a great experience and will go back to try the Sunday brunch."
    Dined on 10/14/2013
  • "We really like this place and dine often- but seriously, can the DJ keep the music at a moderate level until at least 9:30??? Dinner at 7 should not be interrupted by thumping bass so you can no longer talk and enjoy a meal!"
    Dined on 10/12/2013
  • "Coming back for the 2nd time was worst than the first. I made a request for bf's birthday and went in during a really slow time (there was 4 other small parties there).Even then, they forgot to bring out cake with a candle and I had to tell them twice, which ruined the surprise. On top of that, they were drilling something really loudly in the restaurant WHILE everyone was eating. For 10 minutes straight, we had to scream to talk. In terms of the food, the taste was poor considering the price. As a connoiseur of sushi and other fine food, this was a terrible place to dine. Everything was bland. So basically, bf's birthday dinner was ruined. The ONLY good aspect of Jade is the decor."

  • "Beautiful forest Hills gardens setting with wonderful food."
    Dined on 10/5/2013
  • "Food was okay. Service was okay. Place a bit shabby or "worn down"...looks like it hasn't been redone or freshened up in a while. Big problem is no valet parking and challenging to park as adjacent to Forest Hills area that allows NO non-residents to park on streets - thus only can park in the very busy section 2-4 blocks away where there is VERY limited parking except for a Barnes and Noble parking lot that is far from restaurant and takes forever to give and get your car. No reason to travel to this place - can do better or as well virtually any asian place in the city .."

  • "My friends and I came here for lunch on a Sunday. The place was empty except for us and two more tables. The waitress that came to take our order was also the one making drinks, which to me was a little surprising to see. We had to return a drink bc there was no liche in our martini and it didn't taste like the drink was prepared correctly. The food was very good, but I feel this place is overpriced considering the location. I would go there again, but for dinner because I hear the place looks totally different at night."
    Dined on 9/8/2013
  • "I've been to Jade countless scores of times, food is consistant and decent. For some reason the food came out VERY slowly this night, hope it isn't a new trend! Food is usually very prompt, but, our orders took over an hour to come out, and nothing ordered was complicated. also, the music was extremely loud! it was hard to hear each other. Those two points aside, it is a great local restaurant in a picturesque setting and it was very nice regardless."
    Dined on 9/4/2013
  • "Food was ok. Nice electronic menu where one can see all options. Food portions could be larger. The concrete floor looked industrial and took away from the ambiance. Asian fusion food that caters to Americans more than to ethnic Asians."

  • "We like evrrything about this place included prices :)"
    Dined on 8/18/2013
  • "The food was excellent with larre portions and a big selection. Not only was there didfferent types of Asian fusion(ie Thai, ,Chinese, Japanese) but also Indian influenced cooking as well. The Koi pond was pretty as well. Only complaint was the staff:.a bit rushed, and unprofessional."

  • "All veggie food was very flavorful. Roasted brussel sprouts were excellent. Great place for vegetarians and their carnivore friends. Plenty of veg choices that actually taste good. Nice beer list. Some out door tables. A bit loud indoors, but not enough to stop conversation. Pretty Koi pond in middle of dining room. Only caution: if you don't like spicy food, let waitress know - many of the choices have varying levels of heat, so let them know. Chef accommodated our requests and adjusted each dish. Wait staff are attentive. Overall it was a very nice dining experience. We will return here."

  • "I've been going to Jade for over 8 yrs. I love the ambiance and changing art work. You can order your meal from a tablet or wait for a server. Had a bar drink and the bartender was very knowledgeable. However, when seated, my seat had what appeared to be chocolate on it. Also, the food quality seems to be declining. I ordered lemon fried calamari and it was soggy. My friends ordered brussels sprouts & it was served hard & had to be sent back. They did allow my friends to get something different. Also, my two other friends ordered the same drink. It was served green & orange with coconut on top which they both did not like. They took it back and replaced it with something different. Overall still a nice place to eat and enjoy your company."
