A word from Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse
In the elegant King West village, Jacobs & Co. is the mature Steakhouse of the next generation. Our décor is sophisticated and timeless and moves away from the stuffy old steakhouse, while retaining the core elements of comfort. The piano bar adds a classy element to the neighborhood and is the perfect compliment to pre or post dinner cocktails. USDA Prime Beef and American Wagyu Beef are sourced from specific ranches across North America and are then finished in the Dry Aging Room in the middle of the dining room. Our menu is reminiscent of a wine list allowing guests to choose beef by age, region, and ranch. Jacobs & Co. also features a raw bar with fresh oysters and marinated chilled seafood. Join us for cocktails after work or a more intimate dinner in our main dining room.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I just have to start by saying his was an experience. The staff were all wonderful. The waiter was very helpful and his food recommendations were perfect. We loved the ambience. Having said that it's a place we would consider for special occasions, not for regular dining. We will be going back again when the occasion is right. If you haven't ever been it might be nice to go for the experience. You won't regret it."

  • "As usual the food was superb. If you love red meat, in particular steaks! You cannot beat the selection that Jacobs has to offer along with a variety of sides."

  • "Great for a special occasion when you don't mind breaking out the big bucks for an amazing steak. Try the potato gratin, it's worth every single calorie. Excellent service, comfortable atmosphere."

  • "This is a pricier steak house, but well worth it. The service is exceptional. We all had the Caesar salad to start -- delicious. But the steak -- wow. 3 of us shared the PEI Porterhouse on the waiter's recommendation. It was cut with your fork, melt in your mouth fabulous. The 4th person in our party had the tenderloin. He said it was the best he's ever had. Love the different salts they serve as well. Sides were good, especially fries. Have the monkey bread for dessert. Also, I read a review that said their steak arrived over-cooked. I find this hard to believe, as they tend to cook on the rare side. An overall great experience, and I would definitely go back and recommend to my steak loving friends."

  • "Decided to try Jacobs & Co. for an anniversary dinner after seeing positive reviews online. The menu suggests an upscale restaurant, and that's the first impression you get when you enter the first enter. However, when we were led to our table on the second floor, the noise level increased dramatically, It's a totally different atmosphere upstairs, very casual and loud. Would recommend coming with a group of friends so you can try more items on the menu. If you're looking for something romantic, try to request to be seated on the lower floor. Aside from the noise level, our overall experience was great. The food was good, the timing of the dishes was perfect, and the server was both knowledgeable and friendly."

  • "The service was great. Not very busy. The side dishes are pricey but are large enough to share. Perfect for a special occasion."

  • "A business colleague wanted a good steak in Toronto and with the excellent reviews for Jacobs & Co. we decided to try it. High points: attentive service, excellent decor, range of steak and wine options that may be unparalleled among steak places in Toronto. We had wagyu rib eyes. Caesar salad good but a little over seasoned. Our waiter patiently helped explain menu options including wine pairings. As a steak lover I can't say Jacobs is exceptional. It is very good and I may go back. The prices are not for the faint of heart ($250 pp including alcohol probably not unusual) so it's business expense account territory or for very special occasions."

  • "A bit noisy, but worth the try. Great steak selection and great service. Friendly atmosphere."

  • "It's for the beef. If that is high on your list this is the place to go. Sure it is a little more but it is worth it."

  • "Amazing ceasar salad, and my 60 day aged steak was bursting with flavour. The potato gratin side was creamy and delicious, but next time I'll choose a side other than the mushrooms. They weren't anything special. Order half sides because a full serving of the sides is too much food. Try all the salts and sauces they give you to compliment your steak, just don't go overboard or else your steak will be too salty. Great spot for going with a group of people, and most of the clientele were aged 25 and up."

  • "Great restaurant, but we were tucked away in the back room. The reason we went to Jacobs is because of the liveliness and ambience. If we wanted a dark and 'stuffy' dining experience we would have gone to Mortons, Barbarians, Harbour 60, etc... The liveliness of the front room is what sets Jacobs apart from other steakhouses in the city. Our server was great when he was with us but had too many tables. When you're spending $500 on a meal for two you would expect a little more attention. Love Jacobs in general but this experience was a little underwhelming. We will probably be trying somewhere else next time we're after steak."

  • "From our first step into this dining room, we could feel it was special! Lots of staff available for every possible request. Menu was carefully explained, Suggestions made (order half sizes of sides). We had the table made Caesar salad and it was excellent , Steak was cooked to perfection. Timing of our meal was served perfectly. And then to end the meal with a something for the morning( muffins), was very tastefully done. We would go back just for the freshly baked popovers!! Great meal,"

  • "From the moment we arrived, the experience was absolutely wonderful. The staff, the food, the restaurant....amazing. Our daughter enjoyed her birthday celebration here. We will definitely be back."

  • "Jacobs has a very "banker-y" vibe -- lots of finance types and guys trying to impress their dates. Having said that, the food is very good and the service is as well. I just found it a tad expensive for what it is, but I suspect that's why people like this restaurant. We shared one appetizer, one steak, 2 sides and had two cocktails each. Our bill was $250. Overall, I will return, but it's definitely not for everyone. Good drinks too."

  • "Good atmosphere, the steak was abs delish. I proposed to my girl friend here and it was perfect, the waiters caught on and brought champagne with the campaign!"

  • "Took my girlfriend here for her 20th birthday and everything was exquisite from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we paid the bill...our server was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu and the food was amazing from the caesar salad which was made table-side to the perfectly grilled rib-eye steaks and multiple sides we chose for our mains...this is one restaurant that I shall definitely revisit very soon."

  • "I went for a special occasion and was not disappointed. The wine list is extensive but not for the faint of heart. Some very good choices but markup is large. The food is outstanding. We both had outstanding steaks and any one you chose will be great. We also decided in the tableside Caesar salad . That is a must. Overall a very wonderful evening and great service."

  • "If a great steak is what you desire this is the place for you. Our waiter was excellent and introduced us to their huge selection of beef from Canada, the U.S. and Japan. We shared a 14 oz ribeye which was cooked (and cut for us) to perfection. Their wine list must be ranked among the finest I have seen in Toronto and they also offer excellent wines by the glass in 6 & 9 oz pourings. We did not think that the side orders of Ceasar salad and duck fat French fries were anything out of the ordinary however our almond cake dessert was wonderful."

  • "Great steakhouse but not to be outdone was the excellent oyster selection. Well stocked bar, excellent service. I actually thought that the Australian Wagyu was not as "fatty" as I would like and the char on the outside was a bit much. The dipping sauces and different types of salt available was a very interesting diversion. Would love to come back and try the other beef selections !"

  • "We went to Jacob's for Valentine's Day and it was excellent as usual. Steak was great and the service left nothing more to be desired."

  • "Bottom line—go here for the beef! We shared a table-side Caesar salad (delicious) and enjoyed Snake River Farms wagyu tenderloin & Canadian Prime Hereford rib-eye. For sides, we had lobster tail and used the salt accompaniments brought to the table to add flavor as it was bland; stuffed baked potato had brisket and Mont Jacob cheese (nutty/salty/yummy cheese though the potato was just a standard potato otherwise); half order of poutine. Loved the care that went into the dark chocolate treat and take-home muffins "for the next morning." Our server was impeccable—extremely well-versed and provided the adequate amount of check-ins vs. privacy—and his recommendation for "rare plus" on the tenderloin was spot on!"

  • "The dining experience was truly spectacular. From the greeting at the door, until we picked up our coats- we were treated well. The service was SPECTACULAR ( and I never say this ). It was friendly, open natural and certainly attentive but with no pretension. Food- found the Cesar which was recommended so highly not quite enough garlic and anchovy taste. Steaks and sides prepared perfectly- had the Rappini and the Potatoes Au Gratin. Unfortunately - no room for dessert but will have to make another visit soon to explore the Monkey Cake. Overall, really exceptional experience"

  • "Fantastic experience right from service to food. Steaks were obviously amazing, Give one of the A5 steaks a try if you can, nothing else like it. Place was a little noisy, but that's just nitpicking at an otherwise flawless meal."

  • "Great service! Overall a great experience! The steaks are great as well. The only reason I didn't give the food 5stars is that I have had similar quality steak with cheaper price somewhere else."

  • "Ask a lot of questions if you are unsure about which steak to order. Steaks come charbroiled so some may not like the taste."

  • "The passion for beef is clear at Jacob's. The food is incredible, and the staff is friendly, professional and attentive. I booked for my 2nd wedding anniversary, and the staff not only wished us a happy anniversary, but they brought us complimentary sparkling wine and wrote the sentiment in chocolate on our dessert plate (I know thats nothing new, but it's still so nice). Also, I took advantage of their BYO option and brought a bottle. They were incredibly respectful, and took the bottle off my hands as I checked my coat, and had it decanted right away. I loved that the server was able to discuss the different steaks, and they offer an option to order a 1/2 portion of all the sides so you can enjoy more variety without over eating."

  • "Jacobs gets service and presentation better than almost any other restaurant in the city. From free valet parking to a personal greeter at the door they start it off right. Their steaks are awesome and the level of knowledge of the meat and the wines by the waiters is always impressive. I eat out two to three times a week and Jacobs remains on of my top go to places for a key business dinner, great date, or place to celebrate times with friends."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Jacob's. The service was excellent, our waiter even poured us a glass of bubbly on the house to help us celebrate. We enjoyed the table side prepared Caesar salad and ordered one Canadian Angus steak and a Japanese Wagyu steak. Both were fantastic, and we ended up with too much food to finish. And the muffins! They give you muffins afterward to take home and enjoy the next day - nice touch! The vibe upstairs is more business than romance (perhaps because we were there on a Friday evening), but the piano bar downstairs is quite cozy. For us, the prices are a little high for just any night out but for a special occasion it's a wonderful treat."

  • "first time at Jacob's. Food was delicious - best Caesar salad ever I think. The tableside prep of the salad is a nice little gimmick but it really delivered on the taste. Had one of the ribeyes - 14oz for $55 I think, (one of the least expensive options). Unless you have a lot of $$$ to spend, or you're a real steak connoisseur, not sure the price of the meat is warranted. That being said, it was a delicious steak. Service definitely left much to be desired. Even though there was a ton of staff, our main server was not very attentive. The 'water girl' definitely kept our water glasses full, but everything else that required his attention was lacking. hopefully not all servers are like him. Oh - the Monkey Bread is a must have for dessert!"

  • "The best restaurant in the city, hands down. Yes, you will pay a price for it, but everything from the perfectly cooked steaks, the outstanding service and great atmosphere makes Jacob's a must try. Nice that they allow BYOB for a $40 corkage fee. A great restaurant that has become extremely popular."
