  • "This is a place that we can go with our dog, get a friendly greeting, and not have to sacrifice on food quality or service. The hostess is wonderful and greeted our dog by name on the second visit. All of the servers are great and some even beyond great. We loved the fritters as a appetizer and the banana pudding was worth the extra calories. We were staying in the attached hotel, so we had several meals here. The Eggs Benedict for breakfast was very good."

  • "Excellent Saturday night dinner. Server (Justin) was excellent. Food very good. More than two large tables made our entrees slow to come to the table but a bread basket helped mitigate the delay. Mixed drink very good. The restaurant is very loud and the tables are close enough together that this is not a romantic or private dining experience."

  • "Accommodated allergies and early arrival. Food preparation was slow and out of ribs."

  • "Excellent location for Saturday breakfast or brunch before or after visiting the great Alexandria Market just one block away. Free parking til 12:30PM on Saturday at the city lot under the market. Good selection of menu items at the restaurant. Worth exiting through the Hotel Monaco lobby."

  • "Came to old town for dinner without realizing that there were fireworks scheduled, made a quick reservation at Jackson 20 and was pleased with the experience."

  • "The server highly recommended the goat. I usually love goat, but this was dry and stringy and lacked flavor. The ravioli that it came with actually tasted like it was filled with nacho cheese from the football stadium. The whole thing was terrible and the server never really checked on us so I just didn't eat dinner. The drinks are good--stick with the bar."

  • "$34 bison steak comes out amost cold, waitres clueless about wines, very noisy had to shout across the table to be heard. Very overpriced for a very avaridge restaurant."

  • "Found Jackson 20 by chance on Open Table looking for a new restaurant to take my wife to dinner. We loved everything about the food and atmosphere. The first time we ate there I had the bison and my wife the NY Strip...possibly the best meat I've had in years. This recent visit I got the pan seared cod and it was also amazing...my wife stuck with the strip and was very happy. The salads we've gotten each time were wonderful. We've also taken our kids there for Sunday brunch a few times and my picky kids have loved it and ask to go back. Overall a great restaurant with wonderful servers, food and atmosphere."

  • "We went to celebrate our anniversary and the service was great. And to top that off, the food was amazing. I had wild mushroom Gnocchi that was to die for. My husband had the kielbasa dinner and he loved it. . . Thanks to Jackson 20 for making it a great night."

  • "Bottomless Mimosas with brunch. great start!! Pretty good menu selection, from traditional Eggs Benedict to a unique BELT (BLT with a twist. Friendly and capable servers."

  • "I had brunch there last Sunday with my family and some old family friends. We all loved it! It wasn't too expensive, the food was awesome and the bottomless mimosas had be feeling like I was walking on a cloud when I left. Its great that I didn't have to go into DC to have a great brunch. I will go back for sure!"

  • "another wonderful dining experience at Jackson 20. was initially disappointed to learn shrimp and grits was off the menu, but tried the cod and friend had the goat - incredible. great value with the $20 wine list - check out the offering from Slovenia."

  • "We had an exceptional dinner, not the typical tourist trapping found often in Old Town but very good and very unique, special food. I encourage you to check out their menu and dine there!"

  • "I made reservations online, there were plenty of time slots available for Sunday at dinner time. It's a cute spot with nice decor in the interior. If there are more than 2 people in your party you can't sit outside. We ordered drinks, traditional Manhattans and my drink was practically a Manhattan with Tequila. Had the corn and ham fritters because they had a promo where if you tagged them on Facebook you'd get them for free. They were ok. The Garden Tomato Salad was excellent! For our entrees, we had Bison Hanger Steak, Spare Ribs, and the Crabs & Grits. We weren't impressed with the steak or the crabs & grits. If you don't like fried soft shell crab don't order it. The ribs were tasty and somewhat tender. Great service, food just ok."

  • "Booked Jackson20 based on it's location and menu. Saturday brunches are apparently hard to come by in Alexandria, so our options were limited. That said, this place ROCKED. THE DRINKS: Upon arrival, our waitress Maddy told us they offer $14.00 bottomless mimosas. When we requested to have ours with Grapefruit juice instead of OJ she made a whole pitcher and continued to top us off through the very end. THE FOOD: So unbelievably good! If I had to criticize, I'd say the portions are almost too big, though I think I could have finished my B.E.L.T if we hadn't also ordered the Buckwheat pancakes to split. Both breakfasts were off the hook! Check out the B.E.L.T and Benedict. THE SERVICE: In a word, Fantastic! Thanks Maddy!"

  • "My family of 5 went for brunch for Father's Day. The service was very slow--took awhile to get our simple drinks, awhile to order, I had to ask for a warm-up on coffee, etc. The table beside us actually left because it was so slow. The food was alright, but not as good as I had remembered it from previous visits. The bellini was not good at all. My son's "chocolate chip pancakes" just had a few chocolate chips thrown between each pancake. My daughter ordered a fruit plate and since it was min-June, berries should have been plentiful. Instead, it was some rough pieces of melon. It did not make for a very pleasing Father's Day brunch."

  • "This is a great place for excellent food. I had the Amish Chicken and Fried Green Tomatoes for a side. The Amish chicken comes with carrots, asparagus and mashed potatoes and all were prepared extremely well. The fried green tomatoes were a nice treat prepared with a crunchy breading. Sliced a little thicker than my mother made but still wonderful. Our waitress worked very hard to keep us smiling. I highly recommend this restaurant. I worked food service in college and I realize how difficult it is to get it all done right and on time. It's always nice to see when someone gets it right."

  • "The cheese and meat platter was an outstanding appetizer. The cured meats are made in house. There is a surprising variety, I wish I could buy them in the market. I had the lamb shank. It was delicious and so tender it fell off the bone. Kudos to the kitchen staff as well as the wait staff. This is the third time I have had dinner and have always been more than satisfied."

  • "3rd visit to jackson 20 and most meh. Our food was good, not great. Portions were plentiful too. If you're not coming for brunch and bottomless drinks, you may find it too loud and too busy as we did. Our server was attentive but he forgot my coffee, even after I raved about cafe vita . Might try again but not in a hurry."

  • "I chose this place because of the modern southern dishes they serve and because of its proximity to another establishment I visited in Alexandria. The atmosphere was typical for the Old Town scene, fairly noisy and vibrant, but not overbearing. The staff were incredibly polite, but our service was a little slow (took a while to get our main course) and one of our glasses had a clear lipstick stain on it. Any issues we may have encountered were quickly attended to by our waitress and the food was so delicious that it completely overshadowed any gripes I may have had. Ultimately, it was a great dining experience and I would most certainly visit again. "

  • "Jackson 20 has the best fried chicken in the DC area! It is always freshly fried, succulent, crispy, and not overly greasy. I need my Jackson 20 chicken fix often! Also yummy are their cornbread muffins and lima bean soup! And...I was recently there for a birthday brunch and had a delicious Eggs Benedict that was cooked to perfection. I live in DC and do not mind the drive for the excellent great food at Jackson 20."

  • "We ate at Jackson 20 a few years ago and it was excellent -- one of our most memorable meals! But we were disappointed with the food this time. Good dishes were the mushroom gnocchi, the kielbasa, and the cheese plate. Avoid the mac-n-cheese and pecan pie. The hostess and our server were really outstanding -- that made our evening! Oh, and normally you can sit outside in the courtyard, but there was a wedding reception the night we were there. I wish I had called ahead and asked about that."

  • "When the weather is great, this is a nice place to sit at the sidewalk tables for a people-watching brunch. Especially since the noise inside on a holiday weekend was deafening--full of of large family groups"

  • "The menu is a variety of great Southern dishes. Both times we were there it was different. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the wedding that was going on outside on the patio."

  • "I took my hubby here for a birthday brunch. The food came out pretty quick. The eggs and fruit were amazingly fresh! The serving size could have been a little bit more. Kid friendly as I had our one year old daughter with us and she loved the french toast. Nice spot for a good meal! "

  • "I went to lunch with an old friend that I hadn't seen in a very long time. Our server (never got his name) was splendid. He made great recommendations, made sure that we were satisfied with our meals and did not hover. He let us catch up with each other in peace. The fritters were great as were the "Salad Bars." The Tres Leches Cakes were over the top! I cannot wait to return!"

  • "Jackson 20 has been my favorite restaurant in Old Town Alexandria. I wouldn't say that this most recent experience changed my view but they somehow put us in not the best spot in the restaurant, the waitress was not the most friendly, and it was a lot more noisy than usual. However, I like the food and ambiance there so I will most likely return. "

  • "Brunch was held in the Hotel Monoco and was very quiet and not too busy. There was no rush, the food was great and everyone loved it. "

  • "Pretty good brunch. Obviously a hot spot for that day. The guy in the bear costume at the next table was a bit juvenile and should not have been allowed. Kind of ruined the special occasion. "

  • "What makes this truly Virginian besides the clever uses of ham and peanuts is knowing that the produce is all locally grown. Otherwise it might be considered nouvelle. Whatever it is called, the food is delicious comfort food. Have the chocolate peanut fudge for dessert."

  • "I love Jackson 20! The only part that took away from the experience was when the waiter purposefully placed the bill in front of my male cousin when in fact the reservations were made by me with a specific note in my Open Table booking stating to bill me, the women hosting the brunch. Otherwise, the menu & food presentation is worth every dime!"

  • "Delicious food, excellent service and beautiful ambience. Highly recommend the southern field pea salad, shrimp and grits and especially the banana pudding. Also, I have never consumed a bad wine at this restaurant. Their wine list is stellar and reasonably priced. Specialty drinks are delivered with consistent quality (try Lee's Temptation: perfection). Also, a perfect venue for people and dog watching!"

  • "After waiting 20 minutes without anyone even taking our drink order, we left. After we were seated, and had water brought, we were completely ignored. I tried to hail a waiter twice, and two different waitresses, and was ignored by all of them. There are too many other good options nearby, so we didn't stick around. We live in the neighborhood and may try it again, but not a good first impression for us. "
