Diner Reviews
  • "The service was just great, a very attentive waiter named John."

  • "Drinks from the bar were not enjoyable and served in cheap and small martini glass. Linguini and clams not good. Mahi was overcooked. Do not waste your money."

  • "Brought new friends and everything was excellent - will definitely go back."

  • "This was a refreshing find. Great food and the service was wonderful. Truly enjoyed the comfortable setting while having our pallets explode with flavor. Owner and staff were very friendly and allowed our dining experience to feel like we had always been their patrons. Can't wait to return."

  • "We decided to bring a group of friends to Jack Halyards for the Mardis Gras celebration we heard they were having and were not disapointed. The 8 of us had a great meal that was made up with the Cajun cuisine specials for the day. The baked oystes with a white truffle cream sauce as well as the andouille and cornmeal stuffing baked clams were delicious. The gumbo was full of amazing flavors. Dinner highlights were the crawfish etouffee and the BBQ white shrimp. Our server was very attentive and personable despite having several large tables at the same time. Nice balence between festive partiers in bar the dining area allowing chat amongst friends while still feeling a part of the celebration of the evening. We will be back!"

  • "This place is a new favorite! Small with quaint decor, but the food is outstanding and the people who work there are super friendly. This is the perfect place to go if you want a nice night out where you can actually have a conversation without yelling. We'll worth the drive!"

  • "I have been here several times. Each time is better than the time before. The staff is so accommodating and friendly. The food is great, especially the SUSHI! I almost don't want to write a great review because I am afraid this restaurant is going to get too popular and I won't be able to get a table on a Saturday night!!!"

  • "Substituted red sauce for white on pasta. Informed us a bottle of wine was half price that day. Would not have known. Friendly service."

  • "This place was absolutely fantastic! If you happen to be in the beachside town of Oyster Bay, Jacks should be a spot to visit for a quality dinner."

  • "Jack Halyards continues to be the best restaurant in Oyster Bay. Our two fish dishes were excellent; served efficiently and courteously by Eric and there was live music! It just doesn't get much better."

  • "We were very disappointed this time, since we had been here many times, because of the menu. They seemed to be between menus and had a very limited one this night. Many of the items that we enjoyed were not available, especially the sushi (a new sushi chef would supposedly be there the next night). We'll go back if the menu changes."

  • "A FEW GOOD FRIENDS ENJOYED A GREAT MEAL NEW YEARS EVE AT JACKS HALYARDS. THE FOOD CAME OUT HOT AND PLENTY TIME BETWEEN COURSES. WE WERE NOT RUSH OUT BY THE STAFF WHO WAS VERY ATTENTIVE TO OUR NEEDS."

  • "My family and I continue to visit this neighborhood gem often. We are always very pleased with the freshly prepared selections of yummy dishes. We each had different fish dishes which were both perfectly cooked and pleasantly presented."

  • "Usually this restaurant is wonderful on all counts, but it fell short Sunday night; the rice was way too salty, and they pre-oiled the loaf bread which caused a sloppy mess when slicing. Plus, they were out of 2 dishes I usually order there."

  • "Great salads and small bites menu. seafood was very good!"

  • "Great food with good service. A little loud for my taste, but it provided lots of enthusiasm in the room. Well rounded menu with chefs in view of the public. These guys work like horses. They must sleep well at night. Give it a try, you won't be sorry."

  • "The food at Halyards was OK but disappointing. I was a bit worried when our waiter said to us that there were so many specials he had a printed menu for us. Surely specials can't be that special if there are that many. The protions were generous."

  • "A pleasant, comfortable local restaurant with food which is always tasty and sometimes absolutely delicious. Interesting menu which changes constantly."

  • "This was our first time dinning here. The Lamb Shank was delicious. Four of us ordered it and everyone was delighted. there were two steak entrees good, but one the sirloin with Rosemary a bit pricy. Would not recommend the Servolli Cavatelli, not very good. Overall great food and service good."

  • "Comfortable and consistently good - the menu changes keep it fresh and current - We are always satisfied by the tastes and flavors of each dish, but also the highly attentive service. The mussels are generous and tasty - the sauces rich for "dunking". The beet salad is so fresh and light our whole table enjoyed it. This is the place for fresh seafood and tasteful, cozy dining."

  • "Food always good, sometimes great. Best tuna burger. Wonderful salads."
    Dined on 8/9/2013
  • "The food was very good. The service was excellent. However, they just could not get the order right. When one dish had to be sent back due to an ingredient that was specifically to be eliminated, it came back out with the very same ingredient adorning the top of the dish. The chef needs to read the orders better"

  • "First time to this American Bistro in Oyster Bay. Saturday night live music in bar area which you can hear softly through rest of the restaurant. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their appetizers and entrees from the crab cakes to Mahi Mahi and Long Island duckling. A side note the chef was formerly at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill and also Sushi Samba. This is why there is a full complement of fresh sushi and sashimi. Many creative rolls... And save room for dessert like the flourless chocolate cake...."
