Jack Dusty Coastal Cuisine and Crafted CocktailsNice place to go after selby gardenJust a very delightful place for a nice lunch or dinner. It wasn't quite dinner time but the kitchen made the grouper étouffée for me that I heard they were noted for, anyway. It was excellent.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMService and food was amazing!Service and food was amazing! I would eat there more often if the drinks weren't so overly priced.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLow Country Food Gorgeous viewsJust go...the place is fabulous. The food and service is great and the decor is great.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful time! TheWe had a wonderful time! The restaurant is beautiful, the food is delicious, the service is great and the ambiance is very fun!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed the details,We really enjoyed the details, food, drinks & whole ambiance of Jack Dusty's. The food was amazing!! The crafted cocktails were very detailed and good!! Great area for private dining. Also have a wonderful patio area for outside dining!!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food!Wonderful food and a delightful server. The only dislike is paper place mats, dish towels as napkins and Servers in butcher aprons. Not quite what one expects at The Ritz. It elicits very casual dress.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful but overpriced.Wonderful but overpriced. $10 for a bowl of soup? Really?4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh new look for the RitzGreat experience and fabulous service...would go back for sure4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMJD lives up to its reputationWent to JD's after being referred by a friend, and as someone who has tried all the "foodie/upper-class" restaurants in the Sarasota area, this place takes the cake. Phenomenal service was what really did it for me. They were very willing to accommodate any requests we had and were very hospitable as well. The waitstaff provided an excellent energy to the entire evening. The barstaff was equally great, as they offered me great suggestions and allowed me to try (a full glass) two different kinds of sweet vermouth on the house just because we spoke about it for a brief moment. The food was incredible. I had the whole snapper and my date had the chicken. The fried green tomatoes are a required appetizer that everyone needs to try.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu was very eclectic,The menu was very eclectic, but still had plenty of standards. The raw bar was exceptional. Everything we ordered was superior in taste and presentation. It's a spectacular space and the scene is lots of fun. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and courteous. We loved everything about it.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our dinner butWe enjoyed our dinner but the service was "over the top" The young
waitresses must have asked us 20 times if we liked our food, etc.
They gave us little privacy and too much personal info!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant redeemed itselfThe restaurant redeemed itself from the last time I was there a month ago. The dinner menu offers a good variety and many more choices than the lunch "bar" menu that I was offered a month ago. This time, I did not have to battle with cars arriving at the hotel valet for a function. There is no self-parking at the Ritz. Portions are ample. Appetizers are large enough to be consumed as entrees.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the pleasure of diningI had the pleasure of dining at Jack Dusty last weekend. Pat Bucko has done an amazing job with the staff here. Our server was pleasant, well-informed and courteous.
We started with Fried Green Tomatoes which were delicious, the crabmeat topping was a really nice touch. We also sampled fried oysters which I didn't see on the menu but were offered when I asked. The Watermelon Salad was very tasty with well-balanced flavors.
My daughter (who is almost 5) enjoyed the tuna sashimi as her entree. She was delighted by her mocktail of rich berry juices topped with shaved coconut. The cioppino was outstanding, as were both of our desserts. Bravo.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBreakfast in SrqI met a friend there for breakfast on sunday morning before church, it was quiet, the coffee was excellent and the food and service was Ritz all the way!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant SurpriseAfter reading the HT review, I was a bit skeptical, but decided to make my own evaluation. I'm glad that I did. There were three of us and we were all happy with our meals, from lobster roll with lots of lobster and no "fillers", homemade chips to a beautiful green salad and a grouper sandwich - topped off with the doughnut holes and coffee. Our one complaint was that the doughnut holes came well after our coffee so we had to have a second cup to accompany the dessert. Our server said she had no control over the timing, but someone should have. Beautiful renovation - much more open and light. I'm not sure the prices are lower, however. Pricey. All in all, we will all be back.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food: delicious, the atmosphereThe food: delicious, the atmosphere: excellent, the staff: super-attentive without being intrusive. The only blemish was they had a young woman on display at the bar; she was blowing bubbles dressed as a mermaid. The mermaid idea may have read like Andy Warhol on paper, but it felt like Hugh Hefner in execution. This is the sole criticism I can muster on what was otherwise an amazing meal with incredible service in a beautifully lit and laid-out restaurant.
Get the chocolate cake! Literally the best I've ever had.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWell, it is at the Ritz soWell, it is at the Ritz so it is expensive, especially for drinks, but the food is really good and the service is excellent. Very vibrant and modern and a lot of fun, would recommend for special occasion as it is pretty pricey.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMService and food were excellent!Service and food were excellent! Highly recommend!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent first time visit,Excellent first time visit, great food, cool cocktails and excellent service. The only negative was the absurd stemless wine glasses that were awkward, heavy and impossible to wrap your hand around.... Deep six them Jack !!!3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat SeafoodWe visited when the restaurant was just a week and a half old, so some start-up problems can be overlooked. Our server warned us that most of the pinot noirs on the wine list were sold out, so we tried ordering other varieties of wine. After the server came back a second time because our first two choices were unavailable we gave up and ordered by the glass. An extra appetizer was provided to assuage our exasperation. The menu is quite limited, and doesn't offer some items that one might expect in a seafood restaurant, like shrimp cocktail. But the shrimp ceviche and crab cakes were outstanding. The blackened grouper etoufee was spectacular but huge, consisting of a perfectly prepared grouper with a full serving of crawfish etoufee.1/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
