Went there on a recent Saturday night. The service was problematic. Despite the fact that the restaurant was not crowded, we had to wait a long time before we placed our drink order and even longer before we placed our dinner orders. We asked for bread three times before it arrived. We were beginning to wonder if we were invisible to our lethargic waitress. My salmon was tasteless and barely edible. The other two orders were chicken and pork chops and my friends enjoyed their entrees. The prices are certainly reasonable. I see no reason for a return visit.

Enjoyed our group dinner. Table was already set for our party of 7. The $24 deal for 3 courses (or can subsitute an alcoholic drink instead) is a great price for the food you get.

  • I recently had a great brunch

I recently had a great brunch experience at Jack Bistro. My friends and I had some great menu items, the brioche french toast with banana caramel sauce and eggs benedict, both of which were fantastic. I really love eggs benedict and usually order it when brunching and theirs is some of the best I've had in the city so far. They also feature $3 mimosas and bloody Marys (!). Even though the place was packed, the noise level did not get too loud so we were able to enjoy our conversation. On a beautiful day, we were seated near the window where lots of light came through past the fresh flowers sitting in the sill, a lovely touch. The service was delightful and efficient to top it off. We had a great time at Jack

While the menu will have something for many different tastes, don't expect the best dining experience you've ever had. The food ingredients were fresh, but the execution was lacking. For example, the paella was bland and the schnitzel overcooked. The outdoor seating opportunity however was great. Our overall experience was nice and we would definitely come back for a pre-dinner drink and some appetizer plates. Service was great; very attentive, but not overbearing.

Sat outside...the best patio in town in my opinion. $24 prix fixe dinner deal is the BEST.... Two of us, 2 vodka gimlets up, calamari & crab cake apps, main, one pork chop, one classic Brooklyn Sunday dinner....absolutely delicious on all counts, $24 each plus tax and tip... Really a phenomenal deal with great friendly service, never felt rushed even tho we realized there was a wait for patio seating ...these guys do it RIGHT!!!

I am hoping we just had a new waitress. We went for brunch and ordered pretty simple items---omelettes, steak and eggs, crepes--and it took an hour to get our food. The upside is that bloody maries and mimosas are only $3. Food was fine, and fries were very good. Might go back for another boozy brunch but will make sure I have a snack beforehand just in case.

brought my LA cousin and his friend for dinner on friday night. sat outdoors which is great on a nice summer night. service is always great with very nice wine list, had a nice bottle of rose from provence. food is delicious with a varied menu, something for everyone in the group. better value than any "restaurant week" place we went to. they do a $ 24 prix fixe deal 7 nights a week, cannot beat it. my favorite spot in the whole city

I took my family (my self, my wife and 4 kids aging from 12 til 19) to Jack Bistro to a combined farewell dinner the last night of our holiday in New York and a celebration of the birtday for one of the kids. The choice of Jack Bistro was taken based on the neigbourhood (Greenwich Village), menu, price level and on-line booking opportunity. The adults as well as the kids were fully satsified with the food, the menu choices and the efficiency and helpfullness of the waiters. The possibility to order small dessert portions were particullary commented positive by my family.

put in a request for out dinning on a Friday night at 8. Website warned that reservations could not be guaranteed for outdoors, but when we arrived lovely hostess informed us that we could get the next available table outside. Had a drink at the bar, great wine list by the glass, were there for about 15 minutes then escorted outside to our table. Great outdoor patio and delicious food too, had the iceberg wedge with blue cheese and my bf had the crab cake app, followed by fantastic trout and pork chop entrée, chose the mini dessert ice cream all for the amazing $24 dinner deal. Sat with our second bottle of wine for nearly two hours, never felt rushed or hurried. great service, very friendly and attentive. One our fav's in all of NYC!!!!

We had a table at the very back, where we could see into the kitchen. Pretty standard bistro fare, although the chicken-and-spinach crepes seemed to have only one small chunk of chicken in it, so it was disappointing. The cheddar bread is warm and soft and yummy. Overall, this place is a safe choice for weekend brunch.

From the moment we arrived at the restaurant the waitstaff was very attentive, considerate, and pleasant. We ordered appetizers, entrees, and dessert. We weren't rushed even though there were many people in the restaurant. All the food was quite tasty with the possible exception of the trout, which was somewhat bland. The desserts were small, more along the lines of a tasting menu, but they were very, very satisfying.

We had been here before and liked it a lot. This time the service was horrible! Our waiter seemed to be running around doing nothing. Took him almost 10 minutes to come and greet us. He managed to spill water all over the table and floor then rushed off without taking our drink order. The only time we saw him after taking our order is when we finally got fed up and tracked him down for the check. The food this time was also fairly poor. The breakfast quesadillas had no flavor and were very dry with nothing on the side to add to them. The ham and brie sandwich was poorly assembled and again no condiments to add if needed. Not sure we will be back anytime soon.

Jack Bistro is a very casual restaurant that still has a cute decor. The service is top-notch - everything we asked for was delivered speedily and with a genuine smile. The French Bistro food was surprisingly good for such a casual and reasonably priced place; I loved the ricotta and, I believe, mushroom crepes and my dining companion equally enjoyed his potato soup and ham and brie sandwich. The frites (french fries) were also great - and when my companion asked for his well done, that's exactly what he received. All in all, if you're looking for someplace where you are not going to be overcharged but still have a wonderful dining experience in a fun, casual setting, go to Jack Bistro.

Jack's is a great find in NYC! For a very reasonable price you receive a quality meal of great well prepared food! The menu has something for everyone, the service is friendly and dishes beautifully presented. We went there for my birthday because my favorite dessert is profiteroles which were excellent! But I had the roast turkey dinner (excellent) preceded by the lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing and tomatoes. Excellent! All three items included in the prix fixe meal - usually you are not offered such great choices. I love this restaurant and also enjoy their great $12.00 lunches during the week which include soup or salad, a soft drink and an entree (great variety to choose from). Excellent value, great food and varied selections!

Awesome $24 deal for 3 courses - And you can substitute one, two, or three of the course for a glass of wine or beer. I went with three friends, I got one appetizer, which was big enough for the three of us to share (mac and cheese) and really good. So they each just an entree and 2 glasses of wine. After that, glasses of wine were only $5, and it was a Saturday night.
