Diner Reviews
  • "We have always loved this restaurant. The past 2 times though that we have been there (since obtaining a new chef) the food has definately slipped. Not sure that I will return. Rare prime rib was medium rare, caeser salad a disappointment, creamed spinach was tough."

  • "Jack Binion's is a great place for a celebratory dinner or for a special business dinner. The food was great and it is certain to impress your guests or claimants. Do have a steak, after all, it is a steak house. Our steaks were tender and succulent, even though we had them well done. The mashed potatoes were the tastiest I have had and the Cesar salad was good... But had too much dressing ( next time I will ask for the dressing on the side). The waitress was ok but not as attentive as I would have liked her to be. She could use some lessons from the European waiters. She was good, but for the prices they charge, she should have been more attentive."

  • "Great views over the marina up to the Chicago skyline and down to the Indiana steel mills. Service was prompt and efficient. We were slightly late for our reservation due to traffic problems but were seated immediately in a choice location. There were a variety of breads with butter and port laced cheese served promptly upon being seated. The bottle of wine we asked for was not available but a more expensive substitute was offered at the same price. The prime rib was superb and the brussels sprouts side with goat cheese and nuts was very tasty and the asparagus side was very well prepared. If going to a performance at the Venue you should allow two hours dining time to be able to have a leisurely meal. It is expensive but worth it."

  • "We went before seeing a concert at the Venue. We made reservations for 5:15 and were seated promptly upon arrival. Our waitress was very attentive without being annoying as were the bus staff. Our water glasses stayed full and the food was nicely paced. The onion soup was tried - tasty but nothing too special. The spinach salad was very good - a generous portion for one person or nice small portion for two. Two steaks were the entrees sampled - filet mignon and strip. Both were very tender and perfectly cooked. The baked potato was big enough for two to share and the brussel sprouts with goat cheese and walnuts were delicious. One slice of cheesecake was split onto two plates for two to share - great idea. A wonderful finish to the meal."

  • "If you didn't have a reservation there was no chance of getting a table. We had a reservation and still had to wait half an hour before being seated. We were not the only ones and it seemed to be the rule. We were told by the greeter that "it was always this way on a concert night" Other than that, the food was great and service was outstanding."

  • "Went there before a show and was seated 30 minutes later than the reservation was for. Hostess did not care and had a lot of attitude. We ended up having to rush thru dinner to make the show. Next time will eat somewhere else and just go to the show."

  • "Service was absolutely terrible. Waited for 16 min for drink after it was ordered. Ordered coffee after dinner and after 13 minutes told waiter to forget it. When he picked up empty glass after first drink never asked if we wanted another. Grabbed it so fast as he was walking by we couldn't even get his attention to ask for another. Very disappointing evening"

  • "It will be awhile before we return to Binion's. It took nearly an hour before we got our dinner and when we did we only got half of it. The server said it was on two trays so we waited to get the rest of our food before starting. While waiting for a LONG time, our food was getting cold and two porters came by asking if we needed to-go boxes. When they found we hadn't gotten all of our food, they were shocked and quickly ran to get our food. THANK YOU LADIES! The same happened with our drink orders...forgot those too along with the drink orders being wrong! Throughout the entire visit, not once did a Manager come by to ask how was our dinner. You should NEVER have this kind of experience in a fine dining restaurant spending $300."

  • "Actually, I don't care for meals served a la carte. However, the appetizers and main course were awesomely delicious as my son and I celebrated his birthday. The restaurant also pleasantly surprised him with a slice of cheesecake that he consumed later in the evening. All in all, it was a great evening."

  • "I had dinner twice last week at Binion's. The service was outstanding and the food was great. You don't have to gamble to have a fine dinner. The views are awesome...beautiful Lake Michigan and vibrant industry. No place like it!!"

  • "My most recent visit was to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a 545 reservation on a Saturday evening. We were promptly seated and an assortment of bread and soft cheese spreads where brought out. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, the frise salad, 5 onion soup, wagu beef sirloin, prime ribeye, asparagus, blue crab macaroni and cheese, creme brulee, and carrot cake. We also placed an order for an amaretto stone sour and coffee. The service was good albeit a little hurried. The server at the table next to us asked the diners if there was a problem because he noticed their menus were closed. I was pleased he wasn't our server. We also heard servers arguing amongst themselves. It still was a nice experience. Tipped about 17%"

  • "The atmosphere and scenic view was very nice; however, I was very disappointed with the food. The grilled salmon was flavorless, the jumbo shrimp was over cooked and the crab cake was over seasoned to the point of being salty. We had eaten very light all day in anticipation of this meal and left hungry. I'm addition we both had upset stomachs the next morning. I saw friends who had the filet mignon and said it was great. Maybe since its a steakhouse that's what you have to stick to. We don't eat beef but reviewed the menu in advance and were sure we could have something we liked. It didn't work out! Very disappointed"

  • "Everything you want to find in a steakhouse, though the service was extremely slow. Hopefully it was just an off night for them."

  • "The steak was not good, of high qulaity for the price. My steak was fatty my wifes steak was not tasty."

  • "This particular steakhouse, is great for the area in Indiana. There are FAR better steakhouses about 18 miles north in the heart of the City of Chicago's beautiful down town area. I would try there before making the drive here. Really in all honesty I was shocked at the quality of food here. The food was good, but not great. The service is ok because the waitress we had was new apparently and was not used to the menu, because our order of 4 people with almost the exact order was to hard for her to get correct. The view of the lake surrounding the pier however is breathtaking. Perfect place for a business meeting or to impress a romantic date. The noise level of the restaurant was at a minimum. My family enjoyed themselves. 3 stars."

  • "I loved everything about the restaurant. We had a table over looking the water. Gave a feel that we were on vacation. The filet mignon was amazing. Cooked exactly the way I wanted, and oh so tender. Compliments to the Chef. The service was friendly and quick."

  • "This place has floor to ceiling windows surrounding the dining area that overlook Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. I make sure to take business guests there whenever possible. Too bad they are not open for lunch! They are pricey, so unless company is paying or special occasion, it's best to avoid. They do steaks very well, but don't get fooled by the Wagyu - it can be tough compared to regular beef. In the summer/fall, they have chanterelle mushrooms!"

  • "Steaks were very good - cooked proper temp, good flavor. Caesar salad good. Service not the best . Waiter not interested in spending time w/ us, plates not taken away (appetizer plates left on through dinner), etc. Staff not super knowledgeable. All in all it was ok."

  • "I felt for the price you pay you should at least get a salad with the dinner. Would not order the Oysters Rockefeller again, my mother broke a tooth on a hidden shell. The portions served, left us still feeling hungry. At least we had a nice view. Overall, I don't think I would go back."

  • "You wouldn't go here unless you were in the Casino at Hammond. If you are, then this is the best food available. Portions are enormous, service is good and the menu is the typical steakhouse variety. Prices are high, so you better win at the tables."

  • "I went out with another couple on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately(we had reservations) it took twice the time to get a waitress, but it was busy. Eventually, it became an issue. Ordered a salad with our dinner order....again waited way toooo long and dinner was served and no salad!! She asked if we wanted a steak sauce and we asked for A1...never delivered to the table. If the food wasn't so good and I didn't have a comp, I wouldn't go back.....It's a night out and my guest were feeling the delays were too many and too often!!"

  • "Hard to even start. We had reservations for 6:30 ahead of an 8:00 show. Know that time would be tight we ordered dinner right away at about 6:35. At 7:15 our waiter said dinner would be out soon. At 7:30 I asked for him to check on our dinner which he came back and said in three more minutes. At 7:35 we received our meals which in most part were cold. My wife's meal was incorrect, also no truffle on the greasy Truffle fries. My side did not come. There was no time for anything to be corrected because we had to rush through what we did have to make it to the show on time. This dinner was an embarrassment."

  • "We were dining at Jack Binion's , which was a surprise ( impromptu) dinner for my cousin's birthday. We were seated by the window which had a beautful view of the lake and the city skyline .The food was delicious and food portions were large enough to share. Our server Diane was attentive and pleasant she made our experience very memorable ."

  • "Both our steaks were cooked incorrectly.; 1 was undercooked and the other was overlooked. They forgot the bleu cheese on 1 steak. Brussels sprouts were good. Calamari was chewy."

  • "When seated our menu books did not have any menu in them. The escargot appetizer was the worst I ever had. Presentation: a few escargot in a small soup bowl without any sauce. Tried one and gave it back. Excessive waiting time for the appetizer. Our main course steaks, a filet and rib eye were ordered medium rare and were delivered rare. The filet was much better than the rib eye. The rib eye was very fatty and not cooked properly. If this was not a free meal, I would have been very un-happy, however, I will not eat there again. I do not mind paying $$$$ for a steak dinner but not there. I have had steak dinners at other Binions ( Tunica....where it was outstanding) but disappointed here."

  • "The food was perfectly prepared and the presentation was wonderful. My husband had the large cut prime rib which had just a small round of fat for flavor and was so tender. This was the first time to try tuna tartare and really enjoyed it with the cucumber on top. I had the spinach salad which was so plentiful it could have easily been shared. The vinegrate dressing was so flavorful. I also had the 8 oz filet with the horseradish sauce. They not only gave me the sauce but also a side cup of fresh horseradish which I thoroughly enjoyed. Room for dessert no, unfortunately. We both also had the very large baked potatoes. Portion sizes are not small and you definetly get your money's worth of food. If in the area would go back."

  • "This is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at, and that's saying a lot cause I've been to some of the best in Las Vegas, the food was fantastic, the service top notch. I had a filet with a side of hash browns, my wife had the scallops with a side of wilted baby spinach, the sides were big enough to share. For dessert I had sinful chocolate cake my wife had the tiramisu both were wonderful the cake was one of the best I've ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant, what a great find in the horseshoe casino Hammond Indiana."
