"J Paulz has great food and an excellent atmosphere. We visited during happy hour and received $1 off each tapas item we ordered, $2 domestic beers, and $1 off all liquor drinks. I had a pumpkin pie infused rum with apple cider on the rocks and it was awesome. We ordered 2 sushi rolls; the surf and turf roll was by far the best fusion sushi I've ever had. It was made with shrimp and steak and the regular sushi veggies plus an amazing sauce. We also had a few tapas items...the trio of dips which consisted of a lentil hummus (delicious), pimiento cheese (pretty good), and a smoked gouda dip (freakin' awesome). I highly recommend the corn bacon fritters with avocado dipping sauce! I will definitely go back soon!"

"From a repeat local....we have been underimpressed lately with the food quality. The service is great but the sushi tastes like it came from a second rate grocery store. The fish was..."fishy" and the rolls were just not all that tasty. The one good thing was the Mac and Cheese."

"Our waiter was amazing! The food was decent - the most disappointing thing we ordered was a roll from their sushi menu. We did LOVE the Tuna Tartare Tostadas; done in a different way (with guacamole) that sounds weird but is absolutely awesome. Chicken Satays appetizer was slightly above average also."

"A great variety of tapas and sushi. They have 4 different macaroni and cheese sides and if the rest are as good as the truffle Mac and cheese that we had then I definitely want to go back and try the rest! The shrimp grits were a little spicy and I enjoyed every bite."

"We got the Restaurant Week specials- Shrimp & Grits and Smoked Beef Brisket- and both were excellent. The salads were surprisingly great, and the Warm Chocolate Bundt Cake was outstanding. We will be back to try some tapas."

"Not a bad place. The portions are HUGE. I mean, HUGE. So when you think you've settled on what you want to eat, order half of that. Food is very heavy - having said that, it was also pretty tasty. J Paulz is on the order of an Applebee's or a Ruby Tuesday, but slightly more original. I would go back, but I wouldn't make it a destination."
