Diner Reviews
  • "I ordered sesame crusted walleye. It had a few sesame seeds, was overcooked, and placed on a bed of greasy green beans. My partner ordered a tofu stir fry that was extremely greasy even though he asked for no oil."

  • "My girlfriends and I ate dinner here on a Tuesday evening and I'm glad I made reservations. There were only 5 of us meeting up for dinner at 6:30pm but by 7:00pm it was quite busy. Overall it was a good meal. The service was a little slower than usual and one of my girlfriend's meal was a little overcooked but everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I ordered the short rib which I thought was exceptional - the meat was very tender and flavorful. I will definitely come here again but will always make a reservation regardless of what night of the week it is."

  • "Food was alright this time. Lettuce wrap mets was dry and the smoked pork hop was a little too chewy. We do dine here frequently so just have higher expectations when we dine at this great place. Also the bar area noise level is a little too much when your trying to have a nice dinner."

  • "I love heading to J. Liu for lunch. The food is awesome and the staff is exceptional and super friendly. I will continue to be a customer for many years to come."

  • "Varied food along with traditional food for a brunch Good price !"

  • "This is definitely one of our favorite restaurants! The food is unique and delicious! The service is always great! Their brunch is our first choice! Great patio dining when the weather permits! And the prices are reasonable! Definitely recommend this place!"

  • "After trying their brunch at both locations several times, my recent visit to the Dublin location was the most disappointing.I won't be back. If I had wanted an Asian buffet I could have spent less than $20. When you offer 8 hot items besides the std eggs Benedict and sausage (pressed Brown&Serve vs real sausage links to boot!), chinese food for more than 50% of the entrees is cheap and not up to par & expectations. While the sliced prime rib was delicious, the Mala green bean dish was soggy. Didn't touch the lo mein(seriously?). Regardless if J Lui has an Asian influenced menu, don't want a Chinese buffet whn I go there for their standard brunch. Their holiday brunches have been better executed. Again, NEVER AGAIN."

  • "We really enjoyed eating there! My wife was there before, but it was my first time. Good value for the price we paid for our meals. Highly recommend and needless to say we intend on dinning there again. I'm really a cheap person so for me to say this place offers a great value that means a great deal,"

  • "We brought a group of adventurous and non-adventurous eaters for dinner on a Saturday night. The server was very accommodating of the many questions and had great insight and information about the larger and diverse menu of Asian and other cuisines. She added to the experience such that the non-adventuresome were happy with their choices."

  • "Food and service was great as always. Only complaint is the bar area can get very loud and it carries into the dining area. The last thing you want to do is have to talk over the bar noise when your trying to have a nice quiet dinner."

  • "My salmon was amazing and the service was excellent. If our table had been anywhere besides right next to the kitchen entrance then it would have been a perfect dining experience."

  • "I took my wife here for Valentine's day and it could not have been a better choice. It was right down the street from where I live in a cozy area of Old Dublin. The service was great and attentive and the food was well prepared. They also made sure the flowers that I got for my wife were on the reserved table."

  • "Maybe bc of how busy it was for Valentine's day, but for the first time ever I was not at all impressed with the food. The medallion fillets were tasty, but the potatoes tasted like instant potatoes and the asparagus was undercooked. Not sure I will be returning for dinners."

  • "My wife and I went to J Lui for Valentine's Day dinner. We enjoyed the evening very much. The food and service was really outstanding."

  • "We went there to have Chinese Food, but because it was Valentine's Day they only had three such choices. Since they were all spicey, we elected to go with the American Specials they had for the occasion, and we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic and so was our server. The prices were a little costly, but overall, we were very satisfied with the evening."

  • "Love coming in to a clean and inviting restaurant where the food is already prepared. Wonderful menu of lunch and breakfast items Loved the great service too.."

  • "The parking is very cramped and if you have a larger vehicle, good luck trying to get a parking spot close to the restaurant. My wife and I wnet around 6 pm so we were one of the lucky ones, however the walkway to the entrance had about 6 inches of snow and ice to trek through. We were seated promptly and ordered soups and drinks. My wifes martini from the drink list was mediocre at best. My two drinks were okay as well. I got the hamburger but the flavors didn't go well together. My wife ordered the pasta diavolo and was way too spicy for her liking. The creme brulee for desert was good and it was on the house because my wife didn't like the pasta. Overall great service but the food and drinks weren't something to come back for."

  • "I love this restaurant! I have been here for date nights, girl's night out, family dinners, dinner with kiddos, celebrations and brunches. I have never been disappointed. I love how the restaurant is not geared toward just one type of dining occasion. The food is outstanding and there is a huge variety. I never feel like I cannot find something I want. If you love scallops, you need to try these. They are consistently delicious."

  • "I feel that I can not give an outstanding review for my visit. I feel that we were rushed through our meal. Appetizers were ordered and delivered within ten minutes. Meals were ordered and arrived before we were done with appetizers . It would not have been so bad if the servers had not kept trying to take out appetizers before we were done with them. Also one of our meals were served cold. Food was good but as I said everything was rushed."

  • "My wife and I dined at 7pm on new year's eve. salad and bisque was excellent. Entrees were very good. Going back soon to try some other entrees. Friendly staff. Building did feel a little crowded but i is a smaller space. Not a quiet dining place but well worth the visit. Great for dining with friends."

  • "The food was very good. The font on the menu was very small and the water tasted like it came from a garden hose. The service was very good and our entrees were fabulous."

  • "The Sunday Brunch is definitely the right way to start your day! From the moment we walked in and were greeted by a sweet hostess that told us what a treat we were in for, to a server who was so extremely attentive, to the make your own Bloody Mary bar, and the food that was fresh and wonderful, we decided we had hit on a Sunday brunch that we needed to do on a regular basis!"

  • "My friend and I enjoy J Liu's and think of it as a special occasion place. We were surprised that our favorite dishes were no longer on the menu although the Chef was able to accommodate us by making them anyway. We are willing to explore the new menu and hope to find new favorites. It looks as though they are leaning towards more Asian dishes. At this point the jury is out."

  • "I LOVE J LIU'S!!!! The staff are SO WONDERFUL! The Sunday Brunch is THE BEST in Columbus! The steamed Mussels appetizer is to die for! Their Pad Thai is PHENOMINAL! And don't even get me started on the mimosas!!! :-) GREAT ATMOSPHERE! FANTASTIC STAFF! INCREDIBLE FOOD! GREAT VALUE!"

  • "The food and quantity for the price left a bit to be desired. Also, the tables are tightly put together and fellow patrons were not very nice about moving in order to allow you to move through the dining area."

  • "My adult niece and I (not-too-old auntie) enjoyed a wonderful gals Saturday evening here. We got a terrific booth as requested, during dinner rush hour. Our server Michelle was superior to most (well-timed, intuitive, and tended to our needs), and the food was delicious. My dining partner and I spent considerable time enjoying our dinner and talking, but never felt like anyone was waiting to grab our table. Made this night out great for us!"

  • "Thanksgiving brunch very tasty and no dishes. Second year we went to J Liu's enjoyed both experiences . Worthington location has more space so carving stations an added bonus to prime rib and turkey in serving trays. Service was great and mix of foods wonderful."

  • "We went to J. Liu's Thanksgiving buffet and were very pleasantly surprised. Our first time at the restaurant. When we asked for a booth, the hostess said she would check, shuffled tables a bit, and gave us one that had just cleared. She was very pleasant. Our waitress made a special point to let us know about the big crockpot of pumpkin soup ... set off in a corner. The soup was delicious. The buffet was combination of some Chinese dishes, e.g., green beans, crab Rangoon, and a traditional Turkey dinner -- sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn bread stuffing, turkey, prime rib, etc. There were lots of dessert pieces ... cut small, so you could sample different kinds. The staff were welcoming, cheery, and attentive on a busy day!"

  • "We were there for the Thanksgiving Buffet. Everything was good except for the most important part of the dinner THE TURKEY It was dry and cut up into too small of pieces and all dark meat. But the rest of the buffet was good. The deserts were only 2 stars also We went to the location in Worthington the last time. Maybe that was our mistake"

  • "Unfortunately, I write this with mixed feelings. I have been a fan of J. Liu's for years. However, my dinner last Friday was just terrible. Under my recommendation, my son ordered the spicy chicken and myself the szechuan combo with fried rice. Both dinners had taste, texture, and temperature as if they were prepared hours ahead. I have been a customer for years and I will not be spending my hard earned money on a less than high quality product that I would be ashamed to feed my dog. J., what happened? Your product was always as if fresh from the Wok - now, it appears you have fallen in the mass produced model. Keep me honest, what am I missing? Mushy fried rice - "come on man!""
