We took some friends to dinner for Mother's Day. The steaks were incredible. Probably the best I have had in some time. The bisque was delicious as well. The wines are a bit over priced in my opinion and the lobster was a bit tough. Despite the rather hefty bill, we all enjoyed our time. The idea of a wood fired steak was the first reason we were most interested. When we walked in, the aroma alone was worth the visit. We had a wonderful waitress. I'm sorry I don't remember her name. The drinks were perfect. The salad was perfect. The bread and the smoked butter, perfect. Then my filet came and it was oh my goodness perfect! All though we didn't get our favorite waiter Ben, we know that we can always count on that no matter who are server is they know the menu items well and are always at the ready to serve. It's quiet, the tables are not jammed together, and dark, but no so much that you cannot read the menu. The food and service are first rate. Portions are good. My wife had crab cake/filet combo. It's nice that you can get a 4oz. filet and it was cooked perfectly. The crab cake is all crab. I had salmon which was excellent as were all the sides. Angela was extremely knowledgeable and was able to recommend anything from drinks to food. From cocktails and appetizers to wine and dinner, everything was perfect. I got the filet combo with scallops and both were cooked perfect! The scallops were cleaned correctly before cooking, which is sadly a rare situation. My wife got the crab cakes and was very pleased with the amount of crab used, not a lot of filler! The portions were very impressive for the price! We arrived at the specified time, and were seated right away. Our server took very good care of us, and was helpful when we had questions.

I don't know their chef..but they are really culinary experts. I had the scallops and my husband had the crab cakes...we noticed the crab cakes were just that "CRAB" nothing like a salmon pattie, that you usually find in the midwest...I was trained as a chef on the east coast by Todd English, how to make a good crab cake. This chef nailed it, the scallops were great perfectly cooked, and the lobster rissoto (I don't know why I can't spell today ) but it was so good I could not believe it. Even still I am going to order the crab cakes, which I would say are the best in St.Louis...bravo to the chef. The entire staff was wonderful, from the front door on.
