J. Gilbert's is an "upscale casual" steakhouse serving prime-aged beef cooked over a mesquite wood-fired grill. Guests enjoy various cuts of steak, fresh seafood (including award-winning crab cakes) & other house made favorites like the Maytag Blue potato chips & chocolate velvet cake. The cozy atmosphere includes fire side dining, rich wood, brick & soft lighting where you can enjoy dinner for two or host a large party.   • "This is our third time to J Gilbert's, and it still lived up to it's name. The meal's started with very fresh salads and a cup of chicken soup. I ordered the special of the evening, crusted Salmon. It was a very generous 8oz portion and was cooked to perfection. My wife and neighbor ordered the steak and fish. The only complaint of the evening was that my wife's steak was cooked rare instead of medium rare, and so she had to sent it back and enjoy the scallops while waiting for the steak to return. We topped the evening off with a price of their Chocolate Cake. All in all it was a very relaxing and enjoyable evening. Thank's J.Gilbert's"

  • "Everything about J. Gilberts is fabulous! Every morsel of food was outstanding!!! Have been to many restaurants and have had outstanding meals but there would always be something that was just "okay" . Not at J. Gilberts. From the appetizers to dessert every bite was unbelievable. You didn't want to finish because you were sad that it was gone! It is expensive but worth every dollar!"

We were sat about 20 minutes after our reservation time and the manager offered us an appetizer on the house to apologize for the short wait. The food was delicious and we had a wonderful evening out. I will be back for sure!"

  • "Love eating here- big fan of the chips, wedge salad. This was my first time having the risotto, and the mushrooms on it were phenomenal. The only thing keeping the food rating from 5 stars was the steak tasted too salty- I've never noticed this eating here before. The waiter was attentive with the water so it helped out. The ambience was good just the large parties have a tendency to stand and start conversing with people down the table from them and it's almost as if you are in a banquet hall when I'm reality you are simply to trying to enjoy a dinner for two. Waitstaff as always, highly professional. Excellent food, just kind of put off by the steaks this time around. Girlfriends Alaskan halibut was delicious."

No choice is a wrong choice everything is simply delicious. Steak cuts like butter and melts in your mouth. Portions are of decent size, and if you get the Seafood Starter you will be taking food home with you! The ice cream is a knock out to finish with, creamy and flavorful! Cannot wait to return always a hit with first timers as company."

  • "Our visit was dinner after the theater. The fresh brewed ice tea is a personal favorite. I love that it finishes brewing at the table, and is a generous pitcher, not a little glass that needs to be constantly refilled. The twin medallions and the veal chop we both so perfect, with a choice of sides. We had chosen the mushroom risotto, the potato au gratin, the brussels sprouts and the asparagus. Such wonderful compliments to the meat. The risotto was creamy perfection, the brussels sprouts and the asparagus were roasted crunchiness, and the potatoes had just the right amount of bite to keep it interesting. We hadn't planned on dessert but couldn't resist the carrot cake. Well worth the extra calories A restaurant must for any foodie."

Loved the atmosphere - a nice big stone fireplace in the dining room which added great ambiance, though was a bit warm for me because our table was close to it - and the cocktails- if you're a bourbon fan, try their Makers Mark barrel aged Manhattan. They serve it with a huge ice block so it doesn't get too watered down. Perfection! The steaks were so flavorful and juicy. We did not need to add any salt/pepper [which they don't have out on the table anyway - now I know why - seasoned perfectly!] All in all, this place is worth the $$$. I highly recommend it."

The main course (a steak and grilled salmon) and an appetizer (prosciutto-like beef with cheese) were outstanding and served beautifully. The server took his time to explain everything and was knowledgeable and helpful. The table was located in a quiet alley which was fairly empty. We were able to enjoy each other's company and left in excellent spirits."

This has almost shrunk to half the size it used to be. Prices have gone up and portion sizes have gone down.
