Diner Reviews
  • "Hi, I always find the the J and G grill reliable as a sophisticated chic place to dine! Chic crowd from around the world as it is in the glamourous St. Regis. One note my date commented that there were so many children dining . Just keep in mind it is in a hotel so families dine together often with kids . I don't mind but if you may I suggest to book a later dinner."

  • "We had a nice dinner. The food was good. The service was slow at first, but another waiter stepped in to help ours temporarily and that sped things up. I notified them that we were celebrating my wife's birthday, but there was no mention of it throughout the evening. Kinda bummed about that. The restaurant is pricey, so I thought they'd do a better job with that."

  • "This was a last minute booking for us and by availability assumed it was going to be busy. Not the case but service was excellent, our server polite and attentive. Got a little noisy later in the evening but did not spoil our enjoyment. Would visit here again when next in Miami"

  • "I found the food at J&G Grill to be good and I mean just that. I had the bone in filet medium rare and the meat was very, very dry. My $58 of Malbec wine had to be sent back and was still below average after a second bottle was opened and allowed to breath. Because this is a resort the atmosphere in the dining room happen to get a bit out of control with no less then 1 screaming and 2 crying babies. I fully understand people are on vacation with children and have a right to eat but when your paying close to $400. for a dinner for 4 and trying to enjoy a special evening the last thing you expect to encounter are screaming babies."

  • "Chef Brad and his entire staff killed it. I recommend the tasting menu and wine pairing if you're into having your mind blown. Also, BRAD KILGORE MAKES THE BEST BACON on the planet."

  • "Breathtaking views, 5 star service, and a creative menu that reflects careful constructive talent on the part of the Chef and kitchen stff, this restaurant manages to feel elegant and special without pretention. They just got it right. Perfect for special occasions and comfortable for couples as well as groups."

  • "We expect around 2 hours for our meal when arrived our food were wrong without appetizers, then wait more than 2 hrs for the appetizers then arrived the captain of the waiters saying that the soup is ended 2 hours after they realized it. Bad experience ever"

  • "In order to dine here, my wife and I had to drive 65 miles each way to join up with some family on vacation from the mid west. The trip of 1.25 hours (to and from) was very worthwhile. Everything the restaurant provided was first rate especially the service. Would gladly make the trip again."

  • "FWe were staying at the hotel and did not feel like going outside the St Regis for dinner. Food was fabulous and service top notch. Waiter suggested the best choices on the menu which was much appreciated. We would definitely go back if we were in the area!"

  • "We tale all our guests and visitors to this restaurant. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable. The other day we came earlier than usual and we were pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful view. Overall, it is a very nice and classy place."

  • "The service was top notch and the food was great. My fiance and I were even given gazpacho and macaroons to sample which were amazing. And they brought out a dessert with happy birthday written in chocolate which ended the night just perfect. "

  • "My family and I had an outstanding dinner at J & G and we recommend it highly. The food was perfectly prepared and we cannot wait to return."

  • "The dynamic duo of chef de cuisine Brad Kilgore and pastry chef Antonio Bachour area force to be reckoned with. Each are individually exceptionally talented chefs and a meal comprised of both their skills is a palate blowing experience. Go enjoy Miami's best overall doing experience. Service & wine program top notch too"

  • "The food has remained consistently excellent since the grill opened, although it seems the menu becomes more limited in choice. Everyone has always loved the food. Portions are perfect and desert is always excellent with again, a perfect portion. The service is also consistent - consistently fair. Seating normally has to be changed by request, but is available. Staff is efficient but, lacks in the level of service. "

  • "The waiters and head waiter were very friendly and most attentive. The views are great and the food excellent ( as it should be at this price). We were clebrating my wife's 50th birthday and the Head Waiter looked after us above and beyond the call of duty. My only gripe is the $15 charge to have your car parked by a valet and then another expected tip for the car parking valet. Park on street or take a taxi. The service charge is included in your bill - I tried to tip extra because I was so pleased with our service from the restaurant staff but they refused to accept anything. So, 0/10 for parking,10/10 for the restaurant staff and food. Paul and family"

  • "The feeling of the place was very relaxed. Even at 8pm there were quite a few families with kids. Food was generous and delicious. Service was excellent. I would go again."

  • "I used to go to St Regis Hotel since the inauguration and last manager working now at Lippi was excellent in customer service, excellent in treating clients with respect, I don't know where the new "manager" got training but is unacceptable and disrespectful"

  • "A friend recommended J and G Grill. It is located inside the magnificent St. Regis in Bal Harbor! The host Pedro seated us in a beautiful table by the window overlooking the ocean. The food was excellent! I ordered a bone-in filet and ordered a half lobster to accompany it. The desserts that followed were outstanding! They also have an extensive wine list! The service was axing! We will go back again the next time we are in Miami!"

  • "I have to say, the place exceeded my expectations. Food was better than I thought, service fabulous and not snooty at all, and the view to die for. Very cool place. Black truffle pizza, tuna tartare, grouper, fries, and salted caramel sundae all big hits. Will definitely go again. A wonderful evening in South Florida."

  • "Expensive but one of the best in south east Florida."

  • "Overall great experience. Parking was 25 dollars there should be no fee to eat here. Food was great must have the truffle pizza. Great wine list and room was beautiful."

  • "Overall, very disappointing for a restaurant of this cost. In particular, Parmesan crusted chicken ordered by my wife was severely undercooked, not crisp at all and frankly was not edible.Service was efficient and good. Would not come back."

  • "While expensive, this is the best restaurant in Bal Harbour."

  • "The fish was mushy, and the room was really, really cold and dark. A miserable, expensive meal. On the plus side, a really super waiter and bartender, great drinks and good wine. Go if you must, but wear a fur coat or parka, and don't eat - just drink."

  • "J&G Grill is one of the best finds in Bal Harbour. It offers great food if price is not an issue for you. This is not your neighborhood grill so don't expect to pay those prices. However, the price you do pay for the food is well worth it. The food is wonderful and the service is 2nd to none."

  • "The food was outstanding and the service was amazing, but there were barely any other people in have restaurant. Maybe it was a quiet night? Overall it was a delicious meal and a beautiful restaurants. But I prefer to be dining with other people around."

  • "This was an excellent restaurant with great food. We use to go there every week when in Florida. Unfortunately, since they changed the chef and the menu, the food is definitely not good ! The lobster was fried, in pieces, over a tasteless and dull bed of cabbage ! My rack of lamb supposedly "medium rare", was burnt on the outside and raw inside...It was so bad except for the service which was excellent, that the maitre d' refused that we pay. Not sure that we will go back for some time, unless that change the menu or the chef !"

  • "The service was great but the food was average, considering the prices, I expected more."

  • "We ate at the J and G for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. The variety of offerings could not have been better. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable about the wine, and even the origin of my yellowfin tuna. We had a selection of heirloom tomatoes which was remarkably varied in taste...the best we have ever had, anywhere. My only issues were that the tuna was a bit overdone (my fault, I should have ordered it rare), and that the salted caramel ice cream for dessert was way too salty. We will be back."

  • "Totally ignored an anniversary dinner. Blew surprise champagne by announcing to table they were out of bottle we wanted. After great hors d 'oeuvres, waited an hour for the dinner. When we asked waiter about delay, he said chef had other tables to take care of and had to do in order. Weird, particularly since place was half empty. Medium well steak arrived raw and grouper was cold. Sautéed spinach was creamed. Then after asking if it was special occasion and we told them it was our guests' 46th wedding anniversary, they did nothing. St. Regis is worth seeing and table was great but it is not NY if you are looking for food and service at these prices. Appears to have fallen off since first opened when we were there."

  • "Lunch Prix Fixe not comparable to NY Nougatine with same price. Swordfish sandwich should be not cooked well done! Perhaps they should ask the diner how they would like the fish cooked. It is more likely that the swordfish is precooked and then dries out. The only reason I gave 3 stars was because it is a nice ambience with a great view."

  • "This restaurant ranks #1 on my list. I took my husband here for his birthday and it wowed us, not just with the ambiance, but with the food. Everything we ate (and drank) was delicious!"
