Diner Reviews
  • "The feeling of the place was very relaxed. Even at 8pm there were quite a few families with kids. Food was generous and delicious. Service was excellent. I would go again."

  • "I used to go to St Regis Hotel since the inauguration and last manager working now at Lippi was excellent in customer service, excellent in treating clients with respect, I don't know where the new "manager" got training but is unacceptable and disrespectful"

  • "A friend recommended J and G Grill. It is located inside the magnificent St. Regis in Bal Harbor! The host Pedro seated us in a beautiful table by the window overlooking the ocean. The food was excellent! I ordered a bone-in filet and ordered a half lobster to accompany it. The desserts that followed were outstanding! They also have an extensive wine list! The service was axing! We will go back again the next time we are in Miami!"

  • "I have to say, the place exceeded my expectations. Food was better than I thought, service fabulous and not snooty at all, and the view to die for. Very cool place. Black truffle pizza, tuna tartare, grouper, fries, and salted caramel sundae all big hits. Will definitely go again. A wonderful evening in South Florida."

  • "Expensive but one of the best in south east Florida."

  • "Overall great experience. Parking was 25 dollars there should be no fee to eat here. Food was great must have the truffle pizza. Great wine list and room was beautiful."

  • "Oustanging experience. The sommelier. He knew what he was talking about and talking with him was a real pleasure."

  • "Overall, very disappointing for a restaurant of this cost. In particular, Parmesan crusted chicken ordered by my wife was severely undercooked, not crisp at all and frankly was not edible.Service was efficient and good. Would not come back."

  • "While expensive, this is the best restaurant in Bal Harbour."

  • "The fish was mushy, and the room was really, really cold and dark. A miserable, expensive meal. On the plus side, a really super waiter and bartender, great drinks and good wine. Go if you must, but wear a fur coat or parka, and don't eat - just drink."

  • "J&G Grill is one of the best finds in Bal Harbour. It offers great food if price is not an issue for you. This is not your neighborhood grill so don't expect to pay those prices. However, the price you do pay for the food is well worth it. The food is wonderful and the service is 2nd to none."

  • "The food was outstanding and the service was amazing, but there were barely any other people in have restaurant. Maybe it was a quiet night? Overall it was a delicious meal and a beautiful restaurants. But I prefer to be dining with other people around."

  • "This was an excellent restaurant with great food. We use to go there every week when in Florida. Unfortunately, since they changed the chef and the menu, the food is definitely not good ! The lobster was fried, in pieces, over a tasteless and dull bed of cabbage ! My rack of lamb supposedly "medium rare", was burnt on the outside and raw inside...It was so bad except for the service which was excellent, that the maitre d' refused that we pay. Not sure that we will go back for some time, unless that change the menu or the chef !"

  • "The service was great but the food was average, considering the prices, I expected more."

  • "We ate at the J and G for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. The variety of offerings could not have been better. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable about the wine, and even the origin of my yellowfin tuna. We had a selection of heirloom tomatoes which was remarkably varied in taste...the best we have ever had, anywhere. My only issues were that the tuna was a bit overdone (my fault, I should have ordered it rare), and that the salted caramel ice cream for dessert was way too salty. We will be back."

  • "Totally ignored an anniversary dinner. Blew surprise champagne by announcing to table they were out of bottle we wanted. After great hors d 'oeuvres, waited an hour for the dinner. When we asked waiter about delay, he said chef had other tables to take care of and had to do in order. Weird, particularly since place was half empty. Medium well steak arrived raw and grouper was cold. Sautéed spinach was creamed. Then after asking if it was special occasion and we told them it was our guests' 46th wedding anniversary, they did nothing. St. Regis is worth seeing and table was great but it is not NY if you are looking for food and service at these prices. Appears to have fallen off since first opened when we were there."

  • "Lunch Prix Fixe not comparable to NY Nougatine with same price. Swordfish sandwich should be not cooked well done! Perhaps they should ask the diner how they would like the fish cooked. It is more likely that the swordfish is precooked and then dries out. The only reason I gave 3 stars was because it is a nice ambience with a great view."

  • "This restaurant ranks #1 on my list. I took my husband here for his birthday and it wowed us, not just with the ambiance, but with the food. Everything we ate (and drank) was delicious!"

  • "Food was very good but service was strange at best with the waiter trying to rush us and deciding to reach across diners while they were eating to place silverware for the next course."

  • "Not knowing what to expect, we were directed down this long decorative hallway to a very upbeat and refreshing restaurant décor. The menu had some very interesting items along with a very exciting wine list. The service was excellent and overall we had a wonderful time enjoying the entire evening. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Bad experience. We declined the first table because it appeared oddly squeezed into the middle. We were told the many other empty tables were Reserved. We, of course, replied that we had had reservations also. We were then shown to a table so extremely to the edge of the restaurant that we were almost in a hall way and had a view of the exit sign. We sat at the table but asked to speak to the manager. The manager did come and speak with us and argued that our table was the BEST table in the restaurant. He made quite a vehement case for the privacy that particular table offered.....good to know if your hiding. We declined to pay $500 for a meal when we were already unhappy. Then had to wait 30 minutes & pay the valet. Won't return"

  • "My 1st time was great ! Black truffle pizza was gr8. Tuna tartar & sashimi also gr8 ! We ordered the Tomahawke rib steak which was gr8 , we also had a few sides & they were all perfect! They should look at their desserts to match the main meal caliber. It feel short of our expectations. Looking forward to return..."

  • "We enjoy the experience every time. Service is polished and food is usually great. Had the beef short ribs, but unfortunately not up to par for the price. Everything else was excellent."

  • "The restaurant entryway is hidden and at the end of a confusing mirror lined hallway of the St. Regis Hotel. The restaurant is too dark and had loud techno (?) music playing. The food was pretty good and our waiter was excellent. The big problem was the valet service. All cars must enter an elevated congested circular driveway. When we went to retrieve our car, several guests were loudly complaining to the valet staff that they had been waiting for 30-40 min. The issue was that the 5 valets were stuck in cars on the entry ramp and all traffic was stopped because a hotel guest had checked in and left the car for a valet to park. I had to growl at the valet captain to move the car because he was too clueless to solve the obvious issue."

  • "Everything was excellent and we had a wonderful experience. The service was outstanding, knowledgable, nice and courteous but not intrusive, right on point. The food was delicious. The unexpected combinations of flavors worked very well and surprised us nicely. The desserts -many thanks, Chef Bachour- were, literally, the best we ever had. We plan to return on our next trip to Miami."

  • "Another exceptional meal at J&G, had the opportunity to meet the chef and discuss the meal, it was truly memorable. Way to go any night for any reason or no reason at all. Don't miss it!"

  • "We found this place at the last minute on one of the busiest weekends of the year in Miami, and while we saw it was expensive, we hoped it would be worth it... And it was. Our waiter Antoine made the entire evening perfect, from his excellent wine knowledge (and mini wine tasting he prepared for us), to his attention to detail and care he gave us. The food was incredible. We had the heirloom and tomato salad, followed by grilled salmon and snapper with a side of Brussel sprouts that were out if this world. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly!"

  • "All of the greatest hits of Jean-George, plus a steakhouse? Are you kidding? This place is fantastic in absolutely every way - excellent service, well-curated wine-list, and of course, absolutely fantastic food. Very, very highly recommended."

  • "Went to J & G at the end of my vacation week with my wife. I expected very good things from the restaurant and it did not disappoint. Starting with the very welcoming staff and ending with the food it was a great experience. Dishes very innovative and delicious, staff very knowledgeable about the menu, and very accommodating as far as personal preferences go. Would definitely go back!"

  • "While the service was excellent, I did not enjoy my meal. Especially for the pricing they have, the food just does not warrant this. The restaurant is very pretty, and our server was terrific and very knowledgable. The food just was not great."

  • "Nothing was really wrong with dinner, but little was inspired. We started off wit two good appetizers: truffle pizza and octopus. The remainder of the meal was just plain boring! I had the lamb and my husband had the fillet...Best choices on a very limited and unexciting menu. Both were prepared well. However, if we wanted steaks and chops, we would have gone to a steak house. We wanted gourmet food...but did not get it."
