My husband had the Filet and shrimp and said it was fabulous as well. Both of our entrees were spectacular. The banana crusted halibut with sweet potatoes and spinach was outstanding. It was the special that night, and if it were on the menu again I would go specifically to have it. My husband had the crab topped tilapia - also outstanding. The food was so good we had to try dessert - a decadent chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream. very chocolaty, so we couldn't eat a lot of it, but the combination was delicious. Our server was great. Very attentive and had great recommendations. They had a nice selection of dishes and the ambiance was relaxing. The service was prompt, courteous and friendly but not intrusive. The bill was just under $90 for two with one drink and one app. I had the diver scallops which were excellent and my partner was very happy with his ribs and fries. I would definitely consider them the next time we're seeing a show or want to go out for a nice meal.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMthe Ivy experienceThe building has a history, and I had heard good things about the restaurant, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived a bit early for our reservation, but since our table was ready, we were seated right away. Our server was friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The service was very good. We did however find the noise level to be a bit much for our tastes. We started with an order of calamari. It came out light crisp and pipping hot. They have a nice wine list, and are helpful in aiding your selection. Their lamb chops, were every bit as good as I'd been told, and were presented nicely. We were there to celebrate birthdays, and I am happy with our choice to dine at Ivy. I chose Ivy for some of its reviews on Trip Advisor and end up loving it! The food was fantastic. I had the twin filet tournedos and my wife had the specialty peach chicken. She would NEVER order chicken out as we have this at home frequently, but the preparation with the blackened chicken, polenta cakes and peach chutney were out of this world. My dinner was good and we shared the turtle brownie dessert, which was big enough for at least four folks to share. The hostess was friendly and sat us almost right away (we had a reservation but were early). The waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The bruschetta was delicious, the butternut squash ravioli was to-die-for and the shrimp and lobster papardelle was equally scrumptious. The chef's desert flight was equal parts beauty and flavor. I had the Ahi Tuna salad and it was EXCELLENT with slices of ginger and not too much dressing. I had lunch with 6 ladies, all of our food was great, great service and the outside dining was perfect. The selections on the menu vary from season to season, but always include something special along with traditional items. The food is always well-prepared and delicious. The building is beautiful inside and includes spaces for private events. The outside patio is lovely and relaxing, and often features musicians. Dick and Carol are friendly and welcoming - we are always treated like a special guest, and the service is excellent. You can feel free to recommend the Ivy in Wheaton, IL as a wonderful dining experience. For a party of 4, and with liberal cocktails and an appetizer for the table, our bill was very reasonable, per diner. AND, my request for a comfortable corner booth to accommodate my 90-year old dad's frail (formerly broken) back was honored AND they set the table so beautifully for his wedding anniversary, right down to the "happy anniversary" table cloth. It was a wonderful experience.
