Diner Reviews
  • "The food was a bit inconsistent. We had a appetizer that came with two skewers of chicken, two of beef and two of shrimp and most of it was good but one of the steak ones was perfect and the other dry. Same with the chicken. My wife ordered a steak and it was just ok. The building is beautiful and the outdoor seating looked fun! At the end I felt like my bill was about $20-30 more than the quality of food and service I received. That said, we had a nice time. We probably won't be frequent customers but may visit Ivy again. I just took a look at the receipt and found that the appetizer we ordered was $35 dollars. That explains my surprise at the price. We went with the special but were not informed of the price... Oops."

  • "Our server was TERRIBLE! She didn't smile, didn't tell us her name, didn't mention specials. We were there for 20min before we got drinks, the entrees came very late, couldn't find her during the meal, but after getting our bill-she hovered around our table-watching us until we left (which was only 3min after we got our receipt)! Frankly, we couldn't wait to leave. I've waited on tables myself & know what's realistic to expect from a server & how to be a good customer too. We were 2ppl, knew our order & there over 1.5 hrs?!! The service was incredibly poor for where we were. Maybe at Denny's or Applebee's it would pass, but not at IVY. Its unfortunate because we love the food & atmosphere. I honestly don't know what she was doing there."

  • "We came here for our anniversary, it was exceptional. The building was originally a church and it has a beautiful stained glass window. Everything we had tasted great, the crab cakes for the appetizer, the filet mignon, the crème brulé and the dark chocolate mousse. We are already looking forward to the next time."

  • "Dinner on Saturday evening with family for a special birthday. Our waiter told the chef that it was a special occasion, so the chef sent out an appetizer for the table and a dessert for the birthday guest. Very nice gesture. The service was attentive but not intrusive, letting us dine at our leisure and not trying to turn the table in a hurry. Our waiter carefully explained several menu selections to a guest with dietary restrictions, which was most appreciated. Definitely will go back again."

  • "I love this place. Servers are so friendly and food is always delicious. This time I had a salmon special on some type of light puff pastry (delicious) and my friend had what she usually has -- beef tournados on a Parmesan crusted tomato, with garlic mashed potatoes. She says it excellent. I remembered at the last minute I had to order something to go for my son, and they had it ready in 5 minutes, even though they were fairly crowded. It's just a nice place all around."

  • "We had a reservation for 7pm and where running a few minutes late, so we called to notify the restaurant, we were assured it was not a problem. Unfortunately upon our arrival we were lead past a few nice open 4 place tables to a tall 2 place (bar type) table right next to the kitchen. I couldn't help but feel as if we were being punished for being late, foot traffic was ridiculous. All that aside, the service and food was good as it usually is. The chef at this restaurant is an absolute "class act" and frankly the only reason may be returning."

  • "We celebrated our annivesary at the Ivy. Wonderful service - a very professional wait staff. This old church is lovely!!!"

  • "Ambiance is cute but very noisy given that it looks like a church - high curved ceilings with nothing to dampen the sound. Staff is very nice and mean well. We ordered a very nice bottle of wine and the server poured the ENTIRE bottle ensuring that each person had an equal share, instead of just pouring a first glass for each of us and leaving the bottle. The food was entirely average. I had the most bland ribeye I've probably ever had (though it was cooked perfectly), but another at our party ordered medium well Tournados and they were very rare and had to be sent back. The host coming around to check how we were doing clearly wasn't listening, just smiled vapidly and went off to the next table. We won't be back. No space to write more."

  • "For us, it is about the food and we were not disappointed. It was our first time at Ivy with friends. The service was great , everyone liked their dinner and we found room to sample the small-portion desserts . We will definitely return to sample more of the great food in a very comfortable atmosphere."

  • "Had an updated menu since we last ate at the Ivy; the items we selected were quite excellent, and the suggested wine pairings were spot on. The ambiance was lovely and unique, and the service was good as expected and incredibly quick. Though we were there for a date-night (married 24 years) on a Saturday evening, I would hesitate to recommend it as a romantic restaurant due to the high noise level (the restaurant was packed). Hard to have a conversation without raising our voices. In all other regards, it was excellent."

  • "The IVY has en elegant selection of both specials and standard fare...presented in a re-designed church with the sun setting behind lovely stained-glass and a choir loft overlooking the scene. The wine-list is so tempting that I almost had to spend most of my enjoyable time looking it over and trying to decide among several selections. Alas not very full glasses were presented on a per-glass basis but that's my only real complaint. The food was luscious and did a great deal to satisfy both myself and my wife. The lemon-butter roasted potatoes I got with my fish were delicious and service was prompt as needed. I'd enjoy a bit of background music to go with the church decor (Classical chamber music would really set this environment off.)"

  • "I have been to the Ivy twice. My husband and I went for Valentine's Day. It is a beautiful setting and the sound level is just right - energetic but we could still easily talk to each other across the table. We greatly enjoyed the food and the service was outstanding. I believe the Owner came to each table to ensure the experience was going well with everyone. I enjoyed it so much I brought my neighborhood dining buddies there for girls' night and it was another winning experience. We all enjoyed our dishes, the service was great and we had a nice booth in the corner - quiet enough to hear our conversations. I will definitely return!"

  • "We have dined at Ivy on several other occasions too, and have never been disappointed. This time we went during Wheaton restaurant week for their special Prix Fix menu. The wine list is very nice, and our server was very knowledgeable about the wines offered and the menu. Our food was delivered promptly and was very well prepared. We will definitely return!"

  • "The food and service at Ivy are excellent. The building used to be a church, so it is very pretty and has stained glass windows. They have a large outdoor patio in the summer. They serve delicious, warm bread. My favorite entree is the butternut squash ravioli - rich and delicious. They serve small-portion, reasonably-priced desserts if you just want a few bites. Parking is available on the street or in the free city parking lot just steps away."

  • "A friend recommended this restaurant it was a halfway point with my friends, we all came from different areas. The food and service were outstanding. The atmosphere was unique and we were not rushed. Me and my friends had a lot of catching up to do and we felt very comfortable. I will certainly recommend this wonderful restaurant to my friends and family."

  • "We had dinner at Ivy for the first time Saturday night. The experience was outstanding! The crab cake appetizer was excellent. The pork chops were delicious and enormous. I took 3/4 of my meal home. My husband enjoyed the lobster and shrimp pasta immensely. The ambiance and service were amazing. We will be back!"

  • "Horrible service. Almost 3 hours for 4 people. Had to ask for the specials, got our salad order wrong 3 times, was not offered any dessert menus and had to ask for our check. Food very good, it just took forever. We were there for almost an hour before they took our order and we waited almost 45 minutes to get our food. Great ambiance, when you make resrevations, ask for the main floor. We were upstairs and wish I would have been on the main level. Looks like a nice outdoor eating area in the summer."

  • "We got the tournedos, ribs, chicken cordon bleu, and petite filet with shrimp. Everything was good, but the steak. Had I made it at home, I would have been embarrassed. It was a cheap cut that was cooked poorly. It was the same price as the tournedos, which were more food, cooked better and just plain better. We all felt bad for my husband who was left starting at his empty plate while we continued to eat our delicious meals. He would have ordered a drink, but our waiter didn't come back until we had all finished. It really put a damper on our special night out."

  • "Came here for an anniversary dinner. Each course was magnificent. By the time my wife and I left, we felt that no matter what we ordered (and from looking at what was delivered to other tables), everything would taste delicious!"

  • "We went to this restaurant for the first time to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday. When I made the reservation through Open Table, there was an option to have flowers delivered to the restaurant and on the table when we arrived and yes, they were there and lovely. The place is beautiful...candles on the tables, stained glass windows and the great fireplace. We were seated in front of the fireplace which was very nice. The food is fabulous! Our steaks were done perfectly and everything was delicious. Our server (Catherine) was knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. The only negative to this place is that the noise level was pretty intense but that can be overlooked. A wonderful night. Thank you, Ivy!"

  • "We hadn't been to Ivy in a long time, and it wasn't as good as it used to be. We were off to a bad start when the item I was looking forward to ordering based on the website menu was off the menu. The server said the website menu hadn't been updated since October. The server, while efficient, wasn't able to make anything sound very interesting, but I eventually settled on the duck. The flavor was ok, but the texture was mushy and mealy. My husband's Hoisin pork chop was overseasoned. The side dishes were ordinary. Our gelato and sorbet desserts were mediocre. The raspberry sorbet had no raspberry flavor--just tasted sweet."

  • "Ivy is my wife's favorite restaurant. We like the ambience. The owner and staff are friendly. They participate in Dine-Away Hunger and other events that support the local community. The food is very good. I had the petite filet and it was melt in your mouth delicious. My wife always gets the seafood papardelle (?) and loves it. Ivy has a good beer and wine selection. Overall, this is a great place to go for local fine dining. My only negative is that I wish they had salt and pepper on the tables (it is available by request)."

  • "The atmosphere was nice. But that's where it ends. We went on a Sunday might and almost took 2 hours for dinner. There were three of us. My ribeye steak was dry. There was a lot of fat on it as well. I know there should be some fat but it was pretty flimsy. There was no flavor with the garlic mash potatoes. They was no garlic flavor at all. There was no flavor with the garlic mash potatoes. They was no garlic flavor at all."

  • "Had an excellent Valentine's Day here. Food was very good, was serenaded with my date by a guitarist and violinist who took a request for a song (very nice, fun touch), the host asked how we were and they got us in and out in under an hour without feeling rushed (we had an event to make). The restaurant is a beautiful space."

  • "While the atmosphere is great, the meal was a big disappointment beginning with when the waiter failed to tell all the specials, just the appetizer. (realized that when we left and saw the specials posted in the lobby) Cesar salad was ok…nothing more than the salad in a bag variety purchased at the grocery store. Tilapli with lump crab was very dry and tasted bad. Will not go back."
