First time on a busy night. Place was packed. Food was not as good as previous times. Seafood pasta was luke-warm, soupy, and very skimpy on seafood. Beef medallions were okay. Still a great place for high quality live jazz and good food on less busy nights.

Great service, great atmosphere, great music, great drink list, good food. This was a nice place to start a date night with my wife. The owner plays the piano and keeps the music going, people are encouraged to get up and sing with him so that's kinda neat. My wife and I liked it enough that we look forward to going back some time in the future.

Food was very good. Service was good. Jim Templeton played the piano very well. The Randy Porter trio follwed him with a very nice set. Would definitely visit again. The only snafu was Open Table not relaying the reservation to the restaurant. they took care of us any way in a very professional manner.

They don't start their jazz events on time. On the night we went, the event was s'posed to start at 7 pm but started only closer to 8 with a few tedious instrumentals before the vocalist even came on stage. By then, we were done with dinner and ready to leave. A rip off considering it was s'posed to be a jazz night.

We went here for the music part of the evening, so the food was just a side track. It was ok, but the real fun was in the musicians there.

This was only my second time here, the first having been impart of a group where we were very well taken care of. This time was more of a romantic outing before First Thursday events. The menu isn't overly complicated. What's there covers a wide range of interests and there were a couple of specials. We chose the dinner for two at a special price and were not disappointed. Both the chick breast and the tenderloin risotto were wonderful. Not too much dressing on the ceasar salad, and the cheesecake...mmmm. Service was excellent, and soft Jazz was playing. As we were leaving, a small band was setting up to start live music. This is a great place and we'll be back.

Ivories is plainly average. You won't find incredible food, memorable music, outstanding service or surprisingly unique cocktails. Then again, nothing was downright disappointing either. If you're over 60, want to hear acceptibly covered jazz standards and eat a well proportioned and safe meal, you will love it. If you want excitement in your ears and refreshing flavors on your tastebuds, keep looking. Oh, and god help you if you talk or order food during the dinner show-from the disdainful glares you will think you just caused everyone to miss the next great underground jazz sensation discovery. Skip the show, save the cover cost, eat a slightly over-salted meal and listen to the owner/piano player before 8.

What a surprise find! The music made the entire evening feel like a party! The menu has a little something for everyone, from vegatarian choices to spicy, sausage filled jambalaya.

It would be nice if the music was just a slight bit lower to be able to carry at least casual conversation. I didn't feel the overall experience and package was worth the price.

A wonderful and fun combination of excellent food and music. This seems like a great neighborhood place and was certainly worth traveling into from LO. (we just were all wishing it was in our neighborhood). Service was excellent and we enjoyed being there on Blues night and hearing the music. The tables are set up so everyone can see the stage and they have a new dance floor. All of our dinners were perfectly cooked and delicious.

  • Nice music venue

It was the music that drew us there. It is a good venue for jazz with a decent-sized stage, good piano, good house sound system, and good lighting. I don't particularly like the table arrangement for viewing the stage, but that's a problem anywhere. It lacks intimacy if you want to sit near the stage. The high ceilings seem to exaggerate the sense of being overly open. If I wasn't watching a band, I wouldn't want to linger there. The booths are at the far end of the room, so you have to choose between a booth with a poor view or a table with a good view. The bar is nice, and you have a good view of the stage from there. We've always had a good time there, since they book really great groups.
