By booking our reservation online we had practically no waiting time even though it was a busy day. We can honestly say that this was one of our best dining experiences ever. My family member were more pleased by the food than I was, crab cakes in particular. Service was very respectable, despite rude folk at the table.

How can you argue with one of the most scenic settings with a classic northwest seafood menu. Service is warm, welcoming and informative. It can get busy so reservations are highly recommended. They saw our Open Table Reservation and seated us right away. (At this point, I was wondering why it had been a year, since our last visit - besides, this was my location for my previous birthday dinners and other special occasions for several years)
Our server came over to our table as soon as we were seated and asked to take our drink order, at which I told him that I needed time to look over the wine list. Within a minute, he was back again. I had to quickly make a selection. When he came back with the wine, he took our order. Wrong order arrived. We were not disappointed. Our table was ready on time, service attentive but not overbearing, portions generous, and food tasty and well-presented. We were not rushed, courses came at just the right pace. The only drawback was that our table was a bit too close to the bar showing the NCAA playoff games and open seating in the dining room, the noise level was a bit high. I wish restaurants had better substitutions for potatoes, like quinoa or brown rice or something more healthy. The waitstaff was very attentive, almost too much so, I felt like our waitress was constantly at our table...interupting our conversation many times...it just felt like it was too much attention. We were too late for brunch but the dinner menu made it a very special day. The sun was shining and the view was beautiful. Our waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. That was appreciated. We were allowed to visit and did not feel hurried to eat and leave. It had been awhile since I had been to Ivar's but I will definitely be back soon. And when my father turned 80 years young on the 8th of March, there was little doubt as to where we would break bread as a family once again. Eric was our server, he was incredibly considerate and attentive to our party of eight, but not over bearing. With little direction, he arranged to bring out the cake I dropped off earlier in the day, and on a nicely appointed display cart the cake was lit with voices raised to sing. It was a fabulous meal.
