  • "Because it was a celebration of our 46 years of marriage, we returned to our favorite restaurant Ivar's in Mukilteo. We had requested a window seat, knowing it is always first come first serve. The staff greeted us cheerfully, and we only waited a very short time to be seated. They put us at our favorite table..unknown to them, as we have sat there many times. It was great food, as always, great service with many smiles, and a night of great memories. Thanks you Ivar's for making it once again a very special time. We love everything about this restaurant and will be coming here for many years to come. My husband is still talking about the blackened salmon..and my lingcod was delicious. I have had it before,and I love it. Thanks again to all"

  • "We had reservations but had to wait 15 minutes for them to clean the table. The food was expensive for lunch and mediocre at best. The service was slow and unattentive. The waitress was oblivious to the fact that we had 2 kids (2 and 6) and when she had our check in her hand she stood in the doorway chatting to another wait person while we sat waiting for the bill. There are so many fantastic restaurants to frequent, I would not go to Ivars at Mukilteo Landing again."

  • "On a recent summer evening I was blown away to find a Templeton Rye Manhattan featured on the menu. Favorite whiskey, favorite drink, made perfectly. All the food was good, but the best was the grilled Copper River salmon on wilted spinach and fingerling potatoes, with a garlic and bacon aioli. This is what Ivar's does so well: takes local ingredients, and without going all gourmet, ups the concept of a dish, its preparation and presentation into something special. Our evening was enhanced by super-pro Janet, our server, who provided friendly, attentive service."

  • "I am a widow but have memories of my last Anniversary there. My husband had a big oxygen tank and was in a scooter. He was a nonsmoker but damaged his lungs in the military. I knew it would be our last Anniversary together after a long marriage. Your staff gave us a window seat by moving chairs. They even snapped a photo for us. On my recent visit I took my friend a recent widow and they made sure we had a table with a good view. Staff excellent."

Loved the cornbread pudding. A friendly place with a decent atmosphere and killer view if you happen to be seated at a window."

Steak was incredibly well made, the Copper River Salmon fresh and well prepared and the wine was great (we can never go wrong with Amavi Cabernet). Thank you again for the great time."

  • "Well June 8th was our 46th wedding anniversary! On our 1-night honeymoon(6-8-1968) we spent night at the Edgewater Inn and since our car was valet parked we walked down to Ivars seafood bar and had some red clam chowder and french fries & tarter sauce( i still use/buy Ivars tarter sauce) we use Ivars everywhere for our "go to" special occasion meal, snack,etc! I have a Ivars bobble head that has a prominent place in our home! Ivars food has been quality food!"

  • "I met a business associate from Denver for dinner. He arrived early and was seated in the lounge already; by the windows. There are excellent views from just about everywhere in the restaurant. I had taken him there before and it is always his choice of where to eat in the area. He will even drive up from Tacoma to meet me there. That says a lot about the quality of the food and service. To say nothing of the beautiful view. I had a dozen oysters on the half shell and He was overjoyed that Copper River Salmon was in and thoroughly enjoyed an excellently prepared piece of king salmon. Overall another impressive meal. The added bonus was that our server was very knowledgeable about all of the wines on offer. Great job Ivars."

  • "Most of Ivar's food is predictably good -- huge improvement over the early years, but it is very pricey. Their steamer clams are my favorite item on the menu and the seafood salads are fresh and well prepared. Much of the fresh fish looks like it could be very tasty, but again, it's very expensive even for foodies. Ivar's fish and chips often get rave reviews but I prefer thick moist pieces of fish whereas Ivars offers thin, dry, over crisp fish patties. You can't beat the location -- directly on Puget Sound, next to the ferry dock. "

  • "I was disappointed with the online reservation request. I had guests from Australia that wanted to eat at Ivar's and so requested a window side table at 7:30. When we arrived we were told that there were no window tables available but there were tables to seat us. I'm wondering why the restaurant could not reserve a window table and seated some other guest near the windows. As dinner progressed I noticed that everyone seated after us was given an available window table. I'm sure that they all didn't request a window table. My final thought, don't bother asking for a special table because these guys will just blow you off without making any special effort."

  • "Another couple, my wife, and I attended. We have eaten there a few times and have really enjoyed our meals. They have never visited your restaurant and they were impressed. The 75th year anniversary specials were great--should have been more items to select from on the special menu--of course that would have made the selection all the more harder. Ryan was a great server good personality and very accommodating. He even responded to our requests to add chocolate sauce on our chocolate ice cream that was dessert as part of the special. Hope that complement doesn't get him into trouble. Can't beat the view pf the water especially on a sunny, windy day."

  • "For anyone who doesn't live in the Pacific northwest, Ivar's is as necessary to visit as the Carnegie Deli is to New York City visitors. People want seafood done right when they visit coastal areas - and Ivar's delivers every time. Not to be missed is the clam chowder - it's a must. When the freshest deliveries of seasonal seafood is available, Ivar's has it first - and they know best how to prepare it. This location is particularly noteworthy for the view. Hovering over the sound, literally next to an active ferry landing, seabirds always present... it's the perfect ambiance. The only factor preventing me from giving five stars is the fact that it is a tad pricey. Portions are appropriately sized, not over sized. "

The food is consistently reliable, the ambience is clean and comfortable as well as attractive and the service is to die for. Our last waiter, Erik, was probably the best I have ever encountered. He was professional, courteous and there when we needed something, but not obtrusive. The menu is varied and reflects NW cuisine and offers a variety of choices that appeals to all price variants."

They need to spread out times more. Once we got seated, it was a pleasant experience. Food was as expected. Wait staff was efficient. We have been there before and will return again but will avoid peak holiday times."

You know about the view, the outside seating, the great seafood ... ah, let me say a word about what makes a wonderful restaurant! It's not the food, it's not the ambience, it's not even the view ... for Ivar's Mukilteo, it's the staff. The adjectives include (but are not limited to) sweet, kind, funny, playful, helpful, courteous, informative, cooperative, hard-working ... From the moment you walk in the door, there's a smile, a bit of fun and flirt if you're so inclined, and then it's watching them run their feet ragged. Ivar's Mukilteo's staff is the ultimate argument why restaurants should not make these fine folks depend on tips, but give them an excellent wage"

The food would have been worth the higher price if we had received larger portions. Felt that whiloe excellent quality, it was not the value we expected."

  • "It was Mother's Day, and when we checked in we were told they were running just a "bit" behind. Although we had reservations, we waited a full hour to be seated. We were shoulder to shoulder with a large crowd of people (fire standards, anyone?) in the lobby, and our elderly mother was having difficulty standing for that long. Thank goodness someone gave up a seat on one of the few benches available. Once we were finally seated, the service and food was great. We would have appreciated, however, being told the true wait time so we could have spent that time outside and away from the crowds. "

  • "I ate here once before (no special occasion) and the food was very good, way better than the flagship Ivars on Lake Union (tourist trap with lousy food). It seemed obvious though that the head chefs must of had Mother's Day off, it just wasn't up to the standards of my previous dining experience. I even ordered one of the same things I had been hungering for since my first visit (crab bisque), but it was SO disappointing this time, after being so memorable the first time. "

For the most recent reservation I requested a high chair, and when we arrived the high chair was already set up and menus were set out for the kids. The view is great, food is high quality, and staff is always friendly. The environment coupled with the food always makes for a special dining experience. We always leave happy. "

  • "Even with a reservation we still had to wait 20 minutes for a table, the restaurant was over crowded & the hostess at first tried to squeeze us into a tiny 2 person booth with our 2 year old son, there was no way the 3 of us could have fit there. They took us back to the front & had us wait some more then finally found us a table. There was also no parking. My husband never wants to return to Ivar's, I liked the food though & the server was good. We agreed it might be ok to come back on a non-holiday for lunch but never again on a holiday since we had this same experience one year for Valentine's day."

This visit was to celebrate Mother's Day and even though they were busy, the staff was notably attentive and took great care of everything! Our server was also great with my children! If you go when it's busy, have patience... It's worth the wait!"
