We come here for special occasions and bring out of town guests whenever they visit so they can experience wonderful Seattle seafood. We've always had great food, all the way down to the kids menu. I was very pleased to see grilled salmon on the kids menu because my toddler loves salmon! She devoured the whole thing and even had room for chocolate cake. They don't usually have brunch here anymore (Salmon House in the U-District has one every Sunday) but they decided to have one for Mothers Day. The food was delicious, except I will have to say the crab legs were a little salty and not as sweet as usual. Our requested window table was ready, our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Our drinks arrived quickly. We ordered the prawn cocktail which I would suggest adding a 6th prawn to so its equal for sharing. We both had Boston clam chowder and the bacon wrapped fresh Alaskan halibut, which were out of this world! The baby yukon gold potatoes were ok
the asparagus was just perfect. Our group was a family occasion of a number of people who don't often see each other. There was plenty of room for each of us to move around, and talk with those who we were not sitting next to, originally! I have a picky 8-year-old and an adventurous 5-year old, and they both found something they would like to eat with no trouble. All the food was excellent, as was the wine I ordered. Our server was attentive and service was quick, and when the manager came by to check on us, he even chatted for a bit with my kids. I have moved out of the area, but I try to always stop back in. They have a very nice kids menu, with a wide variety of offerings. The regular menu is quintessential northwest seafood. I also celebrate Ivar's birthday each year and try to get a group together to enjoy in the festivities. The service we received was very good. All of the main dishes were very good. However, our calamari appetizer lacked flavor and was a bit too soggy for my liking.
I enjoyed the cake pop bites this year as the cupcakes from last year were a bit messy. The decorations were perfect and it was a good experience.
We were there for a friend's retirement lunch (it just happened to be on Ivar's birthday). I was disappointed that although I left a note in my reservation, it was not acknowledged.
