A word from Ivar's Acres of Clams
Ivar’s Original Acres of Clams has been a Seattle tradition since 1938. The city's colorful waterfront at Pier 54 provides a scenic backdrop for this attractive yet informal restaurant where, as ferryboats glide by the window, you'll dine on Ivar's traditional favorites and other delicious Northwest seafood from our daily fresh sheet. The main menu also features fresh steamed clams, salmon, Dungeness crab salad, halibut, Ivar's famous fish 'n chips, Puget Sound clam chowder and much more.

Diner Reviews
  • "The food is consistently amazing and the views are fabulous! I ordered the lobster tail and received a huge, cooked to perfection tail. The white clam chowder is superb and the bread tasted fresh and delicious! The kids menu was a good size and had a variety of fish and non-fish items to choose from. Our table overlooked the water and dock so our kids were entertained by the seagulls. Service was great! Overall, Ivar's is a must when in Seattle!"

  • "Hoping for a traditional relaxing seafood dinner on the water. Instead, was enclosed in a very noisy restaurant, that I felt like everyone was being herded in and out like cattle. The food was ok at best. Fine dining prices for cafeteria style food. I ordered a salmon special, the fish was cooked well, but the mashed potatoes that came on the plate were Instant potatoes!"

  • "Trio of locals who wanted a post-sunset sail dinner and Ivar's was a great choice. Appetizer Trio (crab cakes, orange glazed prawns & calamari) is excellent as is the seasonal salad with goat cheese & berries. Two of the entrees seemed a bit over complicated -king salmon with sautéed mushrooms over a risotto cakes and king salmon with sausage (yes, sausage) & portobello mushrooms over mashed potatoes. Would have preferred to let the salmon bask in its own savoriness so next time I'll stick with basics. (The crab cakes really were excellent!) Service was welcoming & attentive without hovering, even at the very end of the night. View out the windows is great, especially at night with passing ferries, etc."

  • "So I know service can vary by your server, but I was very disappointed in our experience at Ivars. The food is top notch, but the prices are high, and our service seemed extremely overwhelmed. It was still a very nice place and is worth checking out, but I would encourage the establishment to consider putting more emphasis on attending to the customers needs."

  • "This restaurant was a serendipity find we had just finished a whale watching trip and wanted something in the area we could walk to. Ivar's fit the bill perfectly"

  • "Been here several times, this last visit was mediocre. Food not up to par, server disinterested and an overall unsatisfying dining experience."

  • "I was so happy that I had made a reservation on line. I was on an overnight train trip getaway from Portland and did not have time to wait. We were offered a table or given the option to wait for a window table. We opted for the Window table and went to the bar where we found seats and prompt service. We were at the bar only about 10 minutes and our light went off with our table with water view. The oyster rockefallas were great. We enjoyed all our meals. Service and water provided was tasty and cold."

  • "We had the fried calamari that was tender as butter with a zingy rice flour batter. The clam appetizer was also delish, but the wild salmon on a goat cheese risotto cake was heavenly."

  • "What a gem! Ivar's had a great menu with fresh caught seafood, salads, appetizers and desserts! And their drink menu was fun and creative! All of the employees we encountered were extremely nice and helpful. Our waiter was attentive without being annoying (a difficult quality to find in most wait staff). When ordering, I was torn between to different menu items and asked my waiter for his opinion...his response: "I'm going to bring you a half-serving of both for the price of the cheapest entree." I was shocked! Bottom line, if you want great seafood with a great atmosphere in Seattle, I HIGHLY recommend Ivar's!!"

  • "We were a party of five, including a young man about 8 years. Our waitperson was very knowledgeable and willing to make sure that all diners' needs were met. (One on a post surgical soft diet, numerous allergies) The food was good but the entire experience was marred by the inattentiveness of our waitperson. I asked four times before lemon slices were brought for my water. Wait time between his visits to the table were painfully long. One would normally be asked about after dinner sweets at the time of table clearing. However, I finally went to the bus station after our table had been completely cleared for quite some time and asked another server to please send our waiter to our table."

  • "Good food, great service, and my nephews loved watching the ferries and fireboats."

  • "I've had Ivars before. The food was ok, it could have been better. It is a nice place to go on the water with a group from out of town."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "The seafood was fresh and they had the best clam chowder and sourdough bread. We were there on a Monday in which they had their bottles of wine half off which was a great deal!"
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "On the contrary, food was amazing. Touristy area yes. I enjoyed a halibut wrapped with bacon and it was awesome. Started with oysters. Could not do dessert ."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "The views and service were great! Food was good, and reasonably priced also. We were able to make (and later change) reservations online and didn't have to wait for log once we got there to sit. Decent draft beer menu as well!"

  • "I love salmon and feel there are other restaurants in Seattle that do a better job in preparation."

  • "This was very busy weekend in Seattle. Reservations were honored as well as window seating. Food was better than I remembered. Enjoyable Sat. evening with walk along pier."

  • "We were late due to street closures for R&R marathon. We called to let them know and they held our reservation until we could get there"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Used to go there from work with groups for after meetings, classes, or retirement. Seems menu was larger then--more choices. Food is not as good here as at other Ivars locations--maybe because it is now tourist season. Salmon was good. Fish and chips/clams and chips not as good. Server was good and a great help. Noise level was high, so hard to hear. View was OK, not great. I'd try somewhere else for a special get-together."

  • "My sister and bro in law came to visit from Nevada because my father recently passed. I took them to Ivar's because they wanted to go to a good seafood place. We came across the ferry because I live in Port Orchard. The experience was worth the trip. The food and service was excellent. My sister had a great time."

  • "Great spot for seafood dinner. Reasonable prices and well trained wait staff."

  • "Have been here several times on our visits up to Seattle and this place never disapoints. The location is beautiful with easy parking nearby. The clam chowder is the best I have ever had. I would not hesitate to recommend this place at all."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Great food and even the kids' meals were presented just like the adult meals. Everything was very fresh and the service was perfect."
    Dined on 6/10/2014
  • "I've been here many times, but this was not a good experience. We were a party of 6, 2 of the dishes were sent back to be cooked as ordered, many things were forgotten and getting refills of any drinks, except water was difficult. The food itself was pretty good. We needed to split the check 3 ways (3 couples) and had to ask 3 times to finally get it right. Sorry Ivar, this visit just wasn't up to the usual standards."

  • "Excellent location on the the pier near downtown with a view of Puget Sound. A fine selection of fresh local seafood. Service was prompt and effiecient.Reservations recommended, especially during cruise ship season."

  • "We were recommended to come here for great seafood and we showed up expecting to order dungeness crabs only to find out they ran out. Another thing is, I didnt understand why there was so many salmon dishes on the menu. I hope they will revamp this place to have more variety of seafoods on the menu."

  • "Big loud seafood type dining room (like when you go to the beach in the summer), well prepared food with good taste, somewhat overpriced. The server was excellent. I'd go back if everyone I was with wanted to. It is what it is."
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "I had a very enjoyable time. the food was great as usual, and I plan to do it again "

  • "Six adults, one 7 year old and one 16 month toddler had a great time celebrating my husband's 70th birthday. We go to Ivar's Acres of Clams several times a year and find it is a great place to take guests. Since the noise level is fairly high, we didn't worry about having a 16 month old with us."
    Dined on 5/20/2014
  • "Overpriced for the quality. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but not spectacular. Also, the view is better two doors down at Red Robin. Our waitress however, was fantastic."
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "AS ALWAYS Ivars never disappoints. Great northwest seafood and service that is outstanding."
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "This was a fantastic choice for our group of 9 celebrating a recent accomplishment. The food was delicious and the service was great. "
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "Dinner at Ivar's was exactly as I remembered from a few years ago. Food and service were very good. Only suggestion is possibly making a spot for a small group to dine near the window where everyone can look out at the view. The fish and chips were outstanding."
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "We seldom come into Seattle for any reason, but Mothers' Day Brunch was too tempting. The food and presentations were excellent, as always; service unobtrusive but efficient; noise level tolerable. Because of my husband's disabilities, we may not be able to return, but we'll try."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "My friends and I wanted a quality meal but had a tight time window as we needed to catch the Bainbridge Ferry. Our waiter was excellent in managing our meal and experience is such a way so as to make our Ferry with time to spare. Ivar's has always been a solid choice and totally lived up to the high quality experience we've come to expect. "

  • "Last time we visited (in the last 12/mo) they had options for non seafood eaters. Only steak or chicken on the dinner menus both of which are overpriced. We asked if there were other possible options-a hamburger with cheese and bacon for nearly $20. My mom ate bread only-considering it was Mother's Day this was a fail. My husband had the burger. I had NW chowder which is my favorite and always good. The only positive thing I can say about this meal this trip. I made reservations, we came 30 mins early and they seated us early which was nice. We had poor table service, mom ordered coffee it was luke warm. Ivars sit down is no longer on the top of my Seattle restaurant list. Unfortunety. "
