A word from Ivar's Acres of Clams
Ivar’s Original Acres of Clams has been a Seattle tradition since 1938. The city's colorful waterfront at Pier 54 provides a scenic backdrop for this attractive yet informal restaurant where, as ferryboats glide by the window, you'll dine on Ivar's traditional favorites and other delicious Northwest seafood from our daily fresh sheet. The main menu also features fresh steamed clams, salmon, Dungeness crab salad, halibut, Ivar's famous fish 'n chips, Puget Sound clam chowder and much more.

  • "Enjoyed the fish and chips. The sourdough bread was yummy."

  • "I love going here for lunch. The food is always good, nice views of the water, and the server we had this time was phenomenal!"

  • "The restaurant takes great pride in its local and fresh ingredients, however they should take more care in cooking them. In all cases where fish was requested medium to medium rare it was served well done. This is a big flaw for a restaurant that specializes in seafood. That said the chowders were all awesome."

  • "Ivars is, well, Ivars ~ Fish and Chips are always good. Oysters on the half shell are delicious even if a bit overpriced, especially since most are locally harvested. Ivars is always a must stop for us."

  • "I have been going to Ivar's since a little boy in 1950----still a all time favorite---The waitress was awesome and very efficient. The cook came to our table to explain a special sauce he made and gave my wife the recipe and took time to chat and explain. Always a thrill for me but a first time visitor for my wife---she was shocked at the service as well as the great food."

  • "We stopped first just for a mid day snack after Pike Place and had a beer and their seafood cocktail. Outstanding! Booked our anniversary dinner there online and it couldn't have been easier. We had checked the menu online and had our hearts set on fresh Dungeness crab but they said right up front that it's first come first served as it was in limited quantities. Always good to have a plan "B" so we then would have the Red King Crab. When we ordered they were out of Dungeness so we went to plan "B" which was divine!!! They felt bad and there was no charge for the oyster appetizer ! Being Canadian we said it was not necessary but they insisted. Our waitress was full of energy and very intuitive with her service. Very positive and enjoyable!"

  • "We enjoyed the Tuesday IVARS Birthday special. We were happy to obtain a reservation for our time selection. It was a very wonderful treat and the chowder was better than ever. The salmon was moist and tasty and the assorted fried fish, shrimp and clam strips entrée was delicious. We enjoyed the white wine as well. The view was very lovely and the booth very cozy. We looked around and everyone seemed to be smiling and having a fun time. Our friendly waitress was very caring and we wish we had given a larger tip after we left. My husband and I will be definitely return for a special occasion or just for a bite of fish and chips. We were lucky and found a good parking space near the restaurant too."

  • "My family really like the fish & chips b/c the batter is light and not too greasy. Generous quantity as well. Fun to see the ferry traffic next door. Only negative point was that we had a reservation but still had to wait 15 min."

  • "This trip was great. We had awesome food and an on top of it waiter. He made sure that we got all of our food and were satisfied with it. Even took our coupon!! Awesome iconic place to visit while in Seattle!"

  • "Had our Anniversary Dinner there. Service was great and food excellent. They even created a drink for me that they never had made before. Highly recommend"

  • "Clam Chowder one of the best we have ever had! Crab cakes were very good but not quite as good as Baltimore's! Will defintitely come back on a future visit since by son is moving out here."

  • "Fantastic seafood. Ivar's is a Seattle icon. I took my boss and coworkers here for Ivar's birthday special and we had a great time and a great lunch. The food was delicious and the staff was great. Well done!"

  • "My parents first came to eat in your dining room in 1941 on their Honeymoon. We live inland 300 miles and come to Seattle 4 or 5 times a year for medical services.and we always eat at Ivars on pier 54. My Mother, who is 3 months short of 98, demands we go there when we come to Seattle and my wife, our family and I enjoy dining there as much as my Mother does and my Dad did until he passed away. A trip to Seattle would be incomplete without a. Meal at Ivars!"

  • "Amazing place and great food. We eat here every time we go to Seattle."

  • "This used to be a favorite stop for us on our trips to Seattle. After this visit we will no longer be back. The service was awful. Saw our waitress 2 times. Once to take our order and the other to try and take my plate while I was still eating. I had the clam dish the rest a rant was named for and there was more sand then clams. After our meal we stopped outside at the to go counter and found we could have had the same food for $4 less each plate. Since the service was so bad this would have been an improvement."

  • "So NOT one of the hip and trendy places you would find on Queene Anne, Capitol Hill, South Lake Union, Ivar's is an old-school nostalgic family restaurant that hasn't changed since I was a kid (in the 1980's) except for necessary remodels and updates. The large open expanse of the restaurant has been maintained, and diners look out south to Coleman Dock and watch the Bremerton and Winslow ferries come and go. The last time we had dinner there we had a party of 11 and our food arrived quickly and all at once. I also noticed that my iced tea class was refilled before it got below half full. In short, the service was amazing and friendly without pretension."

  • "We started with the crab & goat cheese dip that was served with toast points and it was delicious! I ordered Grilled Salmon and it was fantastic. Decorated with something called watermelon radishes, I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderfully fresh taste of salmon, radish, onion, and peaches in each bite. And I don't even like radishes! I had a glass of Reisling with dinner which was terrific, too. This was a private dinner with my oldest son and we were seated at the window. Some of the other tables had young children, so I would guess they have a kid's menu, although we did not see one. Service was attentive and helpful. This was the first time eating here; I would absolutely recommend it to my friends when they're in Seattle."

  • "Very nicely done seared ahi and fabulous rice cake dish! Portions were very generous too. Loved it!"

  • "We made a reservation even after reading numerous reviews saying the food was not at a quality level that justified its price. Wanted to go for the view and the vibrant waterfront location. So it was not a surprise, and we were forewarned, that the food would be of average or lower quality and the pricing would be at a level that should have brought a fine quality meal. Was tempted to have the waiter take my dinner back for reheating so it would seem to have been freshly prepared, but decided it wouldn't get improved that much. It was the $32 "Trio" special....supposedly the top of the menu. The bill for our party of five was $250 and nobody was drinking."

  • "We went to this restaurant 7 years ago before i proposed to my wife. We celebrated our 7th anniversary at Ivars as well. The restaurant is nice inside and staff are very friendly."

  • "This is a good spot for an inexpensive northwest dinner. The food great, drinks we're great and service was great. There was a fair amount of activity and noise so if you want an intimate dinner this isn't the place. Other than that - was a great dinner."

  • "I was an out-of-towner and I made an online reservation based on a referral from a life-long seattle resident. When I saw an Ivar's in the SeaTac airport I was a little nervous about what the experience was going to be like at Ivar's Acres of Clams. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of service and food. Best salmon ever!"

  • "Our guests from Denver, Co wanted to eat here when they flew in to pay off the Super Bowl bet. They had eaten here several years ago and wanted a repeat experience. They weren't disappointed. Your servers were wonderful to us and your floor manager very accommodating. We really appreciated his efforts to re-seat us after we were first seated under the vent blowing cold air right on us. What else can I say, we had a great evening."

  • "My family has been going to Ivars since before I was born but since going gluten free eating out has been difficult. I was confident that the restaurant would be able to accommodate my diet with some modifications. When we arrived not only did the menu already have options that noted they were gluten free but when I told the waiter that I needed it to stay that way he made sure of it. He placed the bread on the other end of the table so as to avoid contamination for me, and then also brought my plate separately to insure that it stay safe for me to eat. I was very impressed. Everyone in our party raved about the food and had a wonderful experience. Thank you so much for a fantastic stress free dining experience!"

  • "We had a lovely time at Ivar's. We were seated right by the water, had an awesome view, a friendly server, and enjoyed some of the best clam chowder we've ever had. We'll be back for happy hour!"

  • "Ivars is a little pricey, but for a special occasion like a date, you can't beat it. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the views of Puget sound are spectacular. The clam chowder is to die for, and their drinks menu is well populated."

  • "Delicious food and drinks, good ambiance, and very good service. Great choice for local eats."

  • "Our waitress was all right, but the hostesses barely acknowledged us as we walked in and didn't say goodbye as we were leaving - all three of them. The fish was fresh, but nothing you can't get in San Francisco. This was a good place since most everything at the Market was closed at night. It did not give us a good impression of Seattle hospitality."

  • "We visited Ivars to celebrate our friends birthday. When I made the reservation we had 10 people-but only 6 showed up. Everyone was very kind and flexible. Great waiter! Our experience was very good."

  • "we ordered dungeness crab, being one of Ivar's specialty, and it tasted great. meet our expectation. would definitely come back for more on our next visit to Seattle."

  • "Friends from out of state came to visit. Between both families we had 5 kids and 3 adults—not an easy group to service on New Year's Eve! Our out of state friends had heard of Ivars Acres of Clams and were excited we were able to get reservations on short notice (thanks, OpenTable!); I was concerned how we'd be received with the make up of our group. Turns out we were treated very well and our server really took care of all of us. The food itself was a treat–our adult guest had the seafood soup (I forget the name) and it was huge and delicious. Of course we shared a clam appetizer and the clams were excellent. Seating was great - back room facing the waterfront. The auto gratuity was reasonable for a party of 8: 17%."

  • "I always bring our out of town guests here to get their seafood fix. Never disappointed. Clam chowder is the best, but my dad loves the seafood chowder. We made a last minute reservation for 10 without any problem, too."

  • "Ivars is great for fried fish dishes. All our fresh fish was so so. The salmon had a weird, almost chemical taste. The halibut was not very special either. The room and service are great."

  • "Our party had a nice table overlooking the water and harbor. Interesting. Our meals were served relatively quickly, which was not a problem for us. The seafood items were, cooked to perfection. Ivars knows how to cook seafood. I would return in the future."
