  • "There were five people in our part on Saturday night and everyone really enjoyed their meal. My brother is a chef and usually finds at least one thing to criticize. He was pleased with everything he ate from the corn muffins and gumbo to the BBQ chicken. Someone else had the short ribs and raved about them."

  • "Mouth watering Pork Chop - very Southern! My favorite. Every appetizer was outstanding and a shinning star in itself.. Must be because the Chef, Chris Starr, prepared them. WELL DONE!!! This dining experience will not disappoint. New menu was presented for the first time.the night we went. . We had our hearts set for the spareribs, but found they had been retired for a awhile to give the menu a new pop. Popcorn shrimp was a great substitute as well as the homemade sausage for an appetizer. Portions are abundant. Hearty eaters should not leave feeling hungry..We were too full for dessert. The bread pudding looked amazing as well as Chocolate cake. Thanks Iva Lee"s for a fantastic dining experience."

  • "Fantastic food!! Warm, attentive service! Loved it all! We ordered Filet Minign & BBQ shrimp. Both better than perfect! Meat cooked right & the best shrimp I've ever eaten! Even the sides were heaven. It's a bit too loud & warm temperature wise for me, but worth the food & service!"

  • "Went for dinner for my husband, daughter and son-in-law's March birthdays at the suggestion of my daughter. My husband and I had been there for brunch once and at that time thought the food a little rich for our taste ( maybe it was just because it was brunch). We actually looked at the menu before making reservations. Three of us had the gumbo which was excellent. The service was great, the server, I wish I could remember his name was very charming and not too intrusive. The wine was not overpriced."

  • "The place was jumping when we arrived and typical for Mardi Gras. While hard to hold a conversation at the dinner table, it was to be expected. Limited menu was a bit of a disappointment because we all had our favorites off the regular menu and they weren't offered. Oh well, great food anyway and excellent drinks. Fun to watch the crowds having fun."

  • "I have eaten there many times and the quality of food is always great! I wish they had salmon on menu as a regular and not just As a seasonal item!"

  • "We love the VIP table close to the bar and the stage. Bob Friars is amazing singer. The menu is simple and the food are delicious, especially the pork chop."

  • "There's just no way around the fact that the every recipe here is long on starch, sugar and carbs. You can try to work your way around it, you can pick your way through the menu but at every turn you are confronted with some sort of candied sugar sauce. It just makes things worse that the zeitgeist of the place is GO WITH IT -- i.e., "well everything is fried so it's gonna be great!" The reality is that frying everything and coating it with sugar sauce is a blast from the past and the essence of this restaurant is sadly outdated."

  • "We were offered a mediocre table on a slow night. The food was okay but bland. On the whole, an okay experience, but far from the best option in SC."

  • "Valentine's Day 2014 Such a disappointing evening:(. We made our reservations a weeks ago. Hostess could not find our name (they even called us the night before to confirm). Luckily, I had the info on my phone. Embarrassing to stand there awkwardly while they search unsuccessfully for your name. We were there early and very few other patrons were seated. Attempted to seat us at the worst table in the place. We said no. After two more attempts, we finally said 'fine' and just sat down. Two other couples were seated after us and given choice tables. We asked them if they had requested specific tables and they said that they had not. Spoke with the manager, and he said specific tables had been requested. Bonified fib."

  • "The ambience is amazing here. The food was amazing although it would have been nice to have been able to order from the regular menu."

  • "Okay, I usually love this place. The bar is great ... good drinks. But we must have hit an off night or something. The usual cute little heart shaped corn muffins seemed old and left over, even a little burned on the bottom. The jambalaya was way too spicy ... had to put the Red Rooster hot sauce on it to cool it down ... Don't know if I'll be back for a while, have to wait until I forget about my bad experience."

  • "Food was scrumptious as usual, live music was AMAZING (Missy Andersen and band), and our server was not only friendly and knowledgeable she was extremely diligent at making sure everything was to our liking. Disappointing - but they tried... Made Open Table reservation specifying "need a good table for 4 in the lounge where we could hear and see the band," I followed up with a phone call the next day to confirm same, then followed up again the day before our dinner and was assured all was okay. Upon arriving we were ushered to bar stools adjacent to the front door where we couldn't even see the band and the cold wind was blowing in. After complaining we were taken to a better spot but was not a dinner table so was awkward & uncomfortable."

  • "We are local residents who have not been to Iva Lee's in a few years. We were very happy with the bar staff (Dan) and our martini's. We relocated to the dining area and enjoyed a delicious dinner. Although we don't remember our servers name, he was very attentive and personable."

  • "My husband and I had dinner at Iva Lee's for the first time. It was wonderful! The food and ambiance definitely reflected the New Orleans heritage, and the live music (Bill Magee) was excellent! We will definitely go back the next time we're craving authentic NOLA cuisine."

  • "We came for the food, but stayed for the dancing. I hadn't been here for several years, and was pleasantly surprised by the additional room and new dance floor. After dinner, we stayed and danced for several more hours to a great Southern Blues Band. We will be back with friends."

  • "Everything I had was amazing, the service and ambiance, Everything was Superb. Officially my favorite spot in San Clemente. Im only sad they aren't open during the day for lunch. I absolutely love this place, im also sad I live in Oceanside, but its worth the drive."

  • "we had reservations for the second seating at 8:30. we arrived at 7:00 and were seated right away and we were able to hold our table for the whole evening. i had the scallop appetizer, sea bass main course, and pecan pie for dessert. everyone in our party loved the food. Red Lotus Review played with Billy Watson. Good blues music. next year if we go i will make sure to reserve early so we could be in the Lounge near the dance floor and band. We have been to Iva Lee's several times and have never been disappointed. love the food, the atmosphere, and now the live music and dancing."

  • "What can be better than great live music and absolutely delectable food? Answer: Iva Lee's, because there we found all that and more! The food was wonderful, their hand-crafted cocktails amazing, and the music was energetic and inspiring. Add to that the warm and attentive service given by our server Mia, and it spells out a very enjoyable and memorable evening."

  • "Always pleasant and gracious owner/host....great bar. Unfortunately, as the food prices have risen significantly, the quality has notrably slipped. It has become a place to sit at the bar, enjoy the music scene, but not venture further into the restaurant for reasons mentioned above. I think there must have been a big change in chefs...."

  • "Dinner was great, but there were a few service snafus, including leaving the bill at the wrong end of the table - a small thing, but it was a moment of frustration that I ident want to handle. Also - too few drink menus for a table of 6 - took forever o get thm around."

  • "This is a very nice restaurant and I will dine here again. The meat loaf is outstanding. Very different. The Southern fried chicken was a 10. The atmosphere is great if you like an authentic old-fashioned restaurant/bar. Top it off with a mint julep, live music and you have a really nice evening."

  • "The food was good. The one thing that really needs improving would be the service. A younger, confused server took away from our first time experience. The biggest downfall were the cocktails. The bartender serves a huge tumbler of ice and a minimal amount of alcohol. Interesting way of serving....a small amount of Black Label on the bottom and a huge amount of ice on top. We had to remove the entire glass of ice to be able to drink the drink. Poor way of serving an expensive liquor. Tried ordering 3 different times and each time it got worse."
    Dined on 11/15/2013
  • "Servers were MIA. The only way to get their attention was to flag them down as they ran by--multiple times for the same request. We never saw the manager helping out. Some friends had the same experience earlier but we thought we would try it again because we had good service on our previous visit. We will not be returning."

  • "We love Iva Lee's and our most recent visit was no exception. The shrimp and grits are fabulous. We took friends who are from the South, and they found the grits to be "spot on". Snapper was also excellent. It was busy, so the service was a little a slow, but with such great music (Missy Anderson) playing in the bar, we didn't mind."

  • "Love the comfortable, slightly New Orleans décor. Had a live band in Bar on a Sunday night! Fun Place to be on a cool Sunday. I went with some southern classics: Fried green tomatoes, pork sliders and sweet potato Fries!!. Topped with nice lager but also had full bar, some interesting martini, and Cajun influenced dishes. Just thought it was a fun restaurant with good food and an upbeat vibe."

  • "We always have a good evening here and the food is usually very good, but we just didn't enjoy our entrees as much as usual. First, the pear salad was wonderful and we hight recommend it! The pork chop unfortunately was very dry and although the jambalaya was good ... it was also too dry. I think next time we will stick with the filet and the shrimp & grits, our favorites. The service is great though and we always feel at home here."
