"Classic dishes make diners dance in the Greek aisles!"
4,5,6 subway stops at 86th street and Lexington Ave.
A word from Ithaka
Chef Harry Hatziparaskevas stokes the savory fires at Ithaka. All dishes are inspired by classic Greek Cuisine.
The pleasures of Ithaka's table are so delightful that you will sit there for a while. It isn't that the menu is full of surprises, but rather that every dish has remarkably consistent quality. Chef Hatziparaskevas always coaxes maximum flavor from each facet of a dish.

Food was delicious. Loved the
mezes and octopus. The fish ordered was cooked perfectly. We found this restaurant by accident and it was a terrific discovery. Will be back!"

The restaurant is the kind of
neighborhood spot that all locals love. Simple, delicious and moderately priced. The food was very good from the appetizer, Keftedakia, to the entrees, Kakavia & Pasari Tis Imeras, to the dessert, Loukoumades which was the best that I've had in a while! I should have know that the dining would be first rate because our friend, Nick Gregory from FOX5, recommended it. As we all know, his forecasts are always spot on!"

Ithaka is always the Best. Have
been a eatting there for years and never had a bad meal. The staff is great. The chef is outstanding."

We brought our good friends who
love Greek food. They loved it and will defiantly go back again."
Dined on 7/4/2014
The presentation was clean and
beautiful; The food was cooked to perfection; Interesting menu, I recommend the spreads - taramosalata, eggplant pure, skordalia, tzatziki; and their calamari. As a main course I had lamb chops which were delicious and my friend had bronzino fish which was also delicious. They have a variety of salads to pick from, we had the classic Greek salad which was very good and rich in feta cheese and pure olive oil. Our waiter Gus was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant."

It's not my first time at Ithaka
and I was never disappointed, everything that I've tried here is delicious. We loved the dips (taramosalata, fava and the smoked eggplant puree), the grilled octopus and the Ithaka salad are always a must try. Great grilled fish, always fresh and tasty and don't forget to mention that George said the Loukoumades are on the house. Staff very friendly and helpful. Enjoy!"

The delicious food and amazing
staff make this restaurant great"
Dined on 6/27/2014
Ithaka is everything we want in a
neighborhood restaurant: great, tasty food, a friendly (but not smothering staff), and good value for the money."
Dined on 6/13/2014
Wonderful Greek salad and
delicious Branzino. You can't go wrong when ordering everything is great. "
Dined on 6/5/2014
Ithaka looks the part, with white
walls and paintings of Greek landscapes, but a selection of classic spreads (taramasalata, tsadiki, and skordalia) was remarkable only in its blandness (the skordalia could have been tile grout) and my fish of the day (a whole red snapper) was fileted slowly my fellow dinners were half done before I had a chance to finish my lukewarm but dried out fish. A lamb special with leeks was tasty but very light on actual lamb for the price. A decent bottle of Santorini and a comped dessert partially reedeemed the night but we are unlikely to return. "
Dined on 6/5/2014
This restaurant is terrible. The
food was worse than a microwave meal. My wife and I suspected that our meals were prepared days before we ordered them and then re-heated for us. The octopus tasted like a Bridgeport tire and the moussaka tasted like a stale pancake. With so many options for Greek food in the area, go somewhere else. Even the local diner serves tastier options."
Dined on 6/5/2014
Very attentive wait staff. Modest
prices with huge portions and nice side portions (included). Ordered grilled calamari and the plate came with at least 6 or 7 very large calamari. I could barely touch the sides which were nice, simple veges with rice."

We brought our friends from New
Jersey and they loved it! They are going to tell all of their friends to go. "
Dined on 5/25/2014
This time we visited Ithaka we
were disappointed. While the spreads with the warm pita bread were delicious, my muscles were stringy and tasteless. My husband ordered a seafood dish with shrimp and scallops. What he got was all spaghetti with a few shrimps and scallops. "
Dined on 5/10/2014
We brought our friends with us who
had never been there. They love Greek food and said this is the best they have had in NYC. "
Dined on 5/8/2014
This is a consistently excellent
restaurant, pleasant atmosphere, nice for a get-together when you want to be able to talk to your friends."
Dined on 5/4/2014
Seems overpriced for a
neighborhood place. Food was "okay", certainly not worthy of the prices charged. Disappointing."
Dined on 5/3/2014
This was a return visit for a BDay
celebration. George, the manager, arranged for a bigger table as we had surprise guests arriving. The small plates were generous and, as before, the grilled fish are amazing. Each fish is ample to share. Thus is first rate Greek food!"
Dined on 5/2/2014
We love Greek food, especially our
daughter who is a vegetarian. Ithaka had delicious food for everyone, especially the whole fish (red snapper), saganaki, taramasalata, Greek salads, and unique vegetarian plate with peppers stuffed with cheese. Serving staff was most efficient and caring to our needs. One truly great restaurant in the upper east side."
Dined on 5/2/2014
The best Greek food on the Upper
East Side. Always fresh and delicious!"

Made the mistake of coming into
the city and trying to get uptown from Grand Central during a steady and cold rainfall, but was pleased once we got into the restaurant. It is a cozy and comfortable spot. The service was attentive, the fish was fresh and delicious (I had the bronzini and my husband had the prawns). A bit pricey, but well-prepared. The only disappointment was the Oregano Fries- limp, not crispy. Overall, it was a charming place with decent Greek food (comparable to the fare one can get in Astoria)."
Dined on 3/29/2014
This was my first dinner at
Ithaka. We shared a fish (which was good and reasonably priced) and a Greek salad, with Greek doughnuts for dessert (much like beignets). Portions were fair, though this restaurant is a bit more expensive than Ethos, our usual go-to Greek restaurant and a long-time favorite in Murray Hill. I wish there were a few cheaper wine options. But that's a minor quarrel, and certainly not something specific to this restaurant. I'm sure we will be back."
Dined on 3/22/2014
Fresh, fresh fish! Consistent and
delicious Greek food!"
Dined on 3/22/2014
We love Ithaka! the food is always
delicious and the service is excellent. We have eaten there many times and have never been disappointed. They make you feel like you are home, in Greece!"
Dined on 3/21/2014
Good Greek food at reasonable
prices. The grilled octopus & grilled sausage are 2 of our favorite outstanding appetizers!"
Dined on 3/17/2014
Ithaka proved to be a cozy place
with great food and a helpful staff. The Saganaki was recommended for an appetizer and we totally enjoyed it. We chose Red Snapper for our main course and were delighted when our waiter filleted it at the table. Dessert was Galaktoboureko. This dessert alone will keep us coming back to Ithaka. The recommended Greek wine was refreshing and affordable. By the end of our meal we were already planning our next visit to Ithaka. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends."
Dined on 3/15/2014
cddThis is my second time at this
restaurant and overall I would say that this time I am not running back. I found the service to be awkward (3 people waiting on one table, but yet not really doing anything), the whole schtick with sitting for 20 minutes before we give you menus is ridiculous and the food was bland. I could have made better greek food at home. Save your time and money, don't eat here."
Dined on 3/7/2014
It was our first time there and it
was pleasant experience all around, Very laid back yet professional service. Food was very good , fresh sea food and flavorful lamb. Simple and safe to say pretty authentic as far Greek cuisine goes. We tried one dessert the semolina almond cake it was less than okay but that didn't Affect the overall experience . Will go back and totally recommend this place."
Dined on 3/1/2014
Excellent service in an attractive
space with a relaxed ambience. Good Greek food."
Dined on 2/21/2014
We shared the fava spread. It was
so good. I had the special prawns. They were very large and the sauce of a simple lemon, organo and olive oil was delicious. My husband had the whole fish and he really enjoyed that, too. The decor needed a face lift, but I would return to this restaurant to try more meals."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Wow Wow Wow. Felt like I was in
Greece again. Food was fantastic. Each dish was as good as the last one brought out. Will re-visit!"
Dined on 2/11/2014
Best Greek restaurant in NYC! We
recommend to all of our friends."
Dined on 1/27/2014
The service is personal and
attentive without being intrusive. The food, especially the fresh fish, is outstanding. The price is reasonable. What more could you ask?"
Dined on 1/23/2014
First time at Ithaka. Food was
tasty. Appetizer portions could have been more generous. The grilled shrimp only offered 4 shrimp for $16. The mixed appetizer had smallish servings of 3 dips. The branzino lived up to expectations from other reviews. Highly recommend it. I would return."
Dined on 1/16/2014
dinner was pleasant, food was very
good, but servive THIS TIME was painfully slow"
Dined on 1/15/2014
We have eaten at Ithaka on almost
every trip to NYC in the last 10 years. We don't get great authentic Greek food in California and Ithaka is the true Greek experience, down to all the waiters and staff being Greek, as well. We started off with generous cocktails (Manhattans) that were quite good. We had the appetizer of a trio of dips - the tzaziki, roe, and fava bean dips. Since I am gluten free, they offered to bring cucumber spears for me which was great. They also served it with pita and bread which my husband enjoyed. We both had specials off the menu. I had a whole fish grilled branzino which was cooked perfectly and fileted right at the table. My husband had a delicious lamb and okra dish. Service was outstanding."
Dined on 12/30/2013
We simply chose this place because
it had an open reservation! It was Christmas Eve and it was AMAZING!!! We aren't from NYC, so we weren't even sure what we were in for but it was beyond expectations. The fish was filleted/served at the table....the oregano fries were out of this world. They were wonderful to help with items for my kids and made us feel so welcome. We've already told other people to go!"

It's a great place to eat, the
staff are really sweet, the atmosphere is great for family or romantic or simply just some friends."
