  • "Made the mistake of coming into the city and trying to get uptown from Grand Central during a steady and cold rainfall, but was pleased once we got into the restaurant. It is a cozy and comfortable spot. The service was attentive, the fish was fresh and delicious (I had the bronzini and my husband had the prawns). A bit pricey, but well-prepared. The only disappointment was the Oregano Fries- limp, not crispy. Overall, it was a charming place with decent Greek food (comparable to the fare one can get in Astoria)."

  • "This was my first dinner at Ithaka. We shared a fish (which was good and reasonably priced) and a Greek salad, with Greek doughnuts for dessert (much like beignets). Portions were fair, though this restaurant is a bit more expensive than Ethos, our usual go-to Greek restaurant and a long-time favorite in Murray Hill. I wish there were a few cheaper wine options. But that's a minor quarrel, and certainly not something specific to this restaurant. I'm sure we will be back."

  • "Ithaka proved to be a cozy place with great food and a helpful staff. The Saganaki was recommended for an appetizer and we totally enjoyed it. We chose Red Snapper for our main course and were delighted when our waiter filleted it at the table. Dessert was Galaktoboureko. This dessert alone will keep us coming back to Ithaka. The recommended Greek wine was refreshing and affordable. By the end of our meal we were already planning our next visit to Ithaka. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends."

I found the service to be awkward (3 people waiting on one table, but yet not really doing anything), the whole schtick with sitting for 20 minutes before we give you menus is ridiculous and the food was bland. I could have made better greek food at home. Save your time and money, don't eat here."

  • "It was our first time there and it was pleasant experience all around, Very laid back yet professional service. Food was very good , fresh sea food and flavorful lamb. Simple and safe to say pretty authentic as far Greek cuisine goes. We tried one dessert the semolina almond cake it was less than okay but that didn't Affect the overall experience . Will go back and totally recommend this place."

  • "We have eaten at Ithaka on almost every trip to NYC in the last 10 years. We don't get great authentic Greek food in California and Ithaka is the true Greek experience, down to all the waiters and staff being Greek, as well. We started off with generous cocktails (Manhattans) that were quite good. We had the appetizer of a trio of dips - the tzaziki, roe, and fava bean dips. Since I am gluten free, they offered to bring cucumber spears for me which was great. They also served it with pita and bread which my husband enjoyed. We both had specials off the menu. I had a whole fish grilled branzino which was cooked perfectly and fileted right at the table. My husband had a delicious lamb and okra dish. Service was outstanding."

  • "This was the best place I've been to in a while. George, the owner/manager, was extremely gracious from the moment we came in. The waiter, I believe his name is Tino, was very attentive and kind. The food was pretty excellent. I specifically enjoyed the grilled octopus. My girlfriend got the rabbit stew, which was excellent and tender, and I got the lamb souvlaki, which was also fantastic. Highly recommend."

We shared several appetizers and two main dishes and all were excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who loves Greek food.   • "The experience was great from the start. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. He also gave us great tips for dinner. Our waitress was very attentive and the food came out quickly. We had the 3 spreads with pita and meatballs for the appetizer. The eggplant and tzitiki spreads were my favorite. I had the octopodi for dinner and it was delicious. We will definitely be back!!"

  • "I've been here a few times and have always had great food. Last night I brought my husband and he LOVED it. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, but the food and service are really the highlight. We were well attended to while still being left alone. Highlights of the food we had would be the Calamari, Lamb & Orzo in a clay pot, and the fish of the day - which is always fresh and delicious. Another favorite of mine are the giant beans (appetizer) and their salads. Highly recommend, we will definitely be coming back!"

But there was some kind of mess-up in kitchen or service or communication, and it was an hour and 25 minutes (from time of seating) until we got our main course. They were apologetic and even comped us some of the meal, which was not necessary; better is for a smooth reliable system..."
