The bar is spacious, the view of the San Diego skyline and Coronado Island is hard to beat. The hostess, bar staff and servers were extremely friendly and accommodating. I appreciated that the servers were attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good and the menu broad enough for everyone happy . This is the perfect restaurant for out-of-town guests, business dinners or a romantic night out. I am a huge fan of 333 Pacific in North County and foe of the over-hyped and mediocre Ventana also part of Cohn Restaurants. The restaurant appearance looked great and the atmosphere was great with a amazing view of the harbor. The portions of the food were huge a lot larger then most restaurants in the area. Our waiter was courteous and attentive, but not always hovering over the table which was nice. There was also another gentleman in the restaurant who I believed to be the restaurant manager....he was SO friendly and came by to check on us a few times. Also, there is not a bad view in theis restuarant. It is right on the water and you can see the San Diego skyline perfectly. I had the crusted mahi mahi with pineapple salsa, which was tasty and perfectly light. My companion had the bone in steak, which is HUGE and perfectly cooked. We also split the loaded lobster baked potato for two....this thing was enough to feed 6! Our server went out of his way to cater to the kids as much as he did the adults. I've been in the restaurant business for a long time and am a little over critical sometimes. This is, by far, the best service I've ever received and I have eaten at dozens of other fine dining restaurants in San Diego. Great job Island Prime - we'll definitely be back.

Excellent lobster bisque and a wonderful Caesar salad. We had beef and fish entrees and they were all good. We weren't as impressed with the side dishes. They were ok but too expensive. They are huge (more than four of us needed) and would be a huge waste for one or two diners. For $45+ for an entree I would like to see at least a few simple grilled vegetables and/or a small portion of potatoes on my plate. I might pay extra for a special side but there's no chance I would pay $12-16 for a potato and a similar amount for some corn or spinach to dress my almost-naked plate of beef.

Always enjoy the bread they offer hear as you wait for your food. Prices are comparable to what you'd pay for any "finer dining" restaurant. Upside to Island Prime is the view.
